This is part 3 of our recap for The World of the Married!
Caution: Be wary of typos
Shorthand Character Chart: The World of the Married Character Chart
How we do this: This live recap will be in two parts and we segment each post around every 10 minutes. Sometimes sooner, sometimes later depending on the scene. There will be typos which we have fantasies of fixing once the episode finishes airing. Also, if there is a preview then we will try and translate it. Look for that at the bottom or on a separate post!
KOREAN DRAMA THE WORLD OF THE MARRIED RECAP EPISODE 16 – PART 3

/7/
They walk away and leave Tae-oh on the sidewalk alone. They cross the street to get in their car. Joon-yong looks back at Tae-oh who is looking at them. Sun-woo looks at him as well and then at her son.
Tae-oh looks down. Joon-young looks at his mom and tries not to cry. Then a bus passes and he looks over at Tae-oh who is running in front of the bus.
JY – APPA!
The bus screeches its breaks. A tear trickles down Joon-young’s cheek. Sun-woo starts to walk to the bus.
VO – The accuser who shredded my pure love. My enemy that I killed. I hated him with everything.
People are looking at the bus.
VO – You are my enemy and my comrade and my enemy and my comrade and my husband.
She gets to the front of the bus. He is fine, the bus’s breaks are AH-MAZING. They stopped with a couple feet to spare. She pulls him away to the sidewalk. He crumbles to the ground and cries and cries while holding her waist.
Joon-young runs up and sees them like this with his father crying and gripping Sun-woo’s waste and he mother bent over him and also crying. Joon-young shakes his head as if this is the worst sight in his life. He starts to back away and then takes off running.
Sun-woo lets go of Tae-oh and starts to run after him.
Joon-young takes out his cell phone and throws it on the ground and continues running away.
VO – What other choice should I have made? Did I have a choice? Did I have a chance to pull my mistake back?
She gets to the cell phone and picks it up. It is all broken.
Tae-oh comes running up behind her and sees the broken phone. Then he takes off running up the street, looking for Joon-young. He yells his name and runs up the middle of the street.
Sun-woo is frozen in place.
VO – Everything I was holding was actually nothing.
Tae-oh talks to the cops about this.
VO – After I realized it, it was too late.
Sun-woo watches and cries. She braces herself on the police car.
VO – I lost the most important thing to me.

ONE YEAR LATER
Tae-oh comes out of a room. It is a movie office room. He is going office to office dropping his script off. It gets put in a pile of other scripts.
He goes to a cafe andn looks at younger photos of Joon-young during happier times. He sends a text and asks, how is Joon-young? Nothing? Then he puts his phone away and starts to write.
HOSPITAL
Sun-woo is at work drinking a tea. The nurse comes in and tells her that her patient is here. She gets up and goes to greet them.
VO (YR) – No news of Joon-yuong?
Ye-rim is writing at a cafe that it looks like she owns. She says that she is getting settled and has regular customers.
Jae-hyuk is looking sadly at some cake. He is looking at the cake that Ye-rim liked the most.
VO (YR) – I have no regret on my choice.
Da-kyung is studying art in a library. A random guy gives her a drink. She looks at him and then packs up to leave.
VO (YR) – Honestly, I try not to regret.
Da-kyung walks out. She doesn’t look at that man.
VO (YR) – Life is your own choice. When you check this mail, I hope you are at peace and happy.
Sun-woo leaves her office and walks to the front to talk to the nurses. She checks on her schedule then asks for the next patient.
One of the patients stands up and walks to her. It is Ha Dong-shik who had the skin issue. But he looks very nice now. He is wearing a casual suit. She tells him that he looks great. He says what is on the surfae doesn’t always matter. Then he says that he was better. But, it wasn’t something that I tried hard to do. Life is something where someone hits the back of your head when you are relaxed. Living is continued unrest.
She says, yes, well, I hope your treatment goes well. I have my next patient. She turns to leave, but he tells her – momentarily, people take it as a comfort. But actually people don’t care about someone else’s misfortune. She turns ack to him.
VO (YR) – Regretting and blaming your self is enough.
Yoon-ki comes out and sees Sun-woo talking with this man. He is actually looking for him as his patient. He walks up to him.
VO (YR) – I hope you forgave, especially yourself.
She drives home. A new family has moved in to Ye-rim’s house. Sun-woo checks her mail. The new family comes to say hello. Sun-woo kind of smiles and goes inside quickly.
She checks her mail inside. One of the mails is about supporting missing kids.
VO – I tried so hard, I don’t think I can forgive.
It looks like she is supporting missing kids centers.
VO – Because now I know that forgiving someone is as cocky as judging someone.
She eats alone at night.
VO – I will just endure my own time and try to be here and wait for my son who will come back some day. Living with this uncertain hope and overcoming this insecurity and putting away my cockiness that says I can decide and control everything, that is the best thing I can do.
She goes to her room and types all of this on the computer.
VO – Between couples who shared most of their life, cutting out one person means I have to give away my entire self. The pain goes to both of them. Between couples, there is no 100% accuser or 100% victim.
/9/
MORNING
She eats breakfast alone.
VO – I am just chewing over this mess we made. And I am not consumed by this pain and live my day to day life.
She turns her head. The light turns on. She looks up. Expectation is all over her.
VO – Maybe it will come as a rescue.
Joon-young comes in through the door.
VO – The moment I can forgive myself.
She looks at him with wide loving eyes.
SW – You are back….
She doesn’t know what to do. She slowly walks up to him smiling.
THE END
COMMENTS
Wow, what an ending! They brought it right back to the family pain of this kind of situation and I kind of love it. It turns this story into a cautionary tale for sure which is definitely is. I love how she realized that what she thought mattered, didn’t actually matter and what did actually matter she lost in the end.
It is also nice to know that Joon-young came back after spending a year away from that nonsense. It is also a bit of a full circle because his father said he left home to get away from his own father and did not come back until his father died.
But in this case, Joon-young ran away from home and spent a good amount of time away, but he decided to go back home instead of staying away for good. At least, that is how I see the episode.
But of course, she could have gone crazy and sees a mirage of her son every morning when she eats breakfast. They definitely left that part open. But she does not look like she went crazy to me???? (for all those wondering my opinion on it).
This is definitely a better ending that Misty! I will recommend this show as a cautionary tale that is a fabulous revenge story. I loved it all the way to the end.
We loved recapping this show with everyone! It was definitely one of the hottest shows on our site of all time! it deserves it because this show was a family drama ride from the beginning to the end.

*cries* yes I believe it’s him too. That’s how I’m going to keep it in my heart.
Thank you so much for all your recaps – it’s what’s got me through the last few months, taking the edge off the drama before watching it myself.
You’re a superstar! Thank you!

This is exactly how I feel! I am looking at my lief thinking, wow, I have it made in the shade 😂
It’s not the ending I thought would happen but it was horrible. I think JY need time away from everyone just to get his own head on stray. I’m glad he came back to his mother and maybe not he can have a relationship with his mother and his father. I know everything is TO fault. But he is still his dad and I hope they can have some type of relationship.

Defiitely, Abby. I feel this so much.
Wtf. The ending was just so wide open and i don’t think it compensates all the emotion that this show had made me feel. ugh. I watched Misty and just ughhhhhh
Author
Yes, it definitely does not give a big outlet of all the build up of emotions which suuuuuucks. Though all my emotions basically exploded about two episode ago.
Thank you for all your recaps!! From soneone who can’t wait for subtitles hehe. THANK YOU!!

You’re welcome, Mimi!
Thank you so much for sharing all this with us all! Your effort means a lot!
Literally watched the raw video while going back and forth with your recap lol
I don’t know.. The ending seems too nice. It was definitely better than Dr. Foster, how it all came down to it after the meal.. But I feel like JY left too easily and without much of a crazy impact like with a VO and serious narration on his end, and he ‘came back’ just as easily.. It never really focused on him and even then, it seemed like he had a whole new ‘darker’ look with his comeback but I actually feel more inclined to agree with your idea about the ‘crazy’ bit. She doesn’t look like it but her reaction.. She didn’t even reach out to him or make a move to speak and it was like she can’t believe it’s really him.. Heck, it even felt like the JY even looked like he kinda colour-coordinated with her outfit lol
But I’m glad LTO is working for real this time. I feel bad for saying this, but seeing the actor’s face, he can really make the character look super pathetic, but I am sincerely glad he is where he is. And I am actually really happy with how YR ended up being where she is at the end. When they started focusing too much on her and JH, I was honestly a bit upset, thinking that they were trying to make it so they can get back together and give this show at least one happy ending couple.
Anyway.. I love your recaps~ Thanks so much for this. And for all the effort with all the recaps, the character chart and all the commentaries. Really appreciate it and will definitely continue checking out recaps on here because you guys make it so much fun. Thanks again~ ^^
Thank you so much for your great effort. In the end, it was a mother&son-bond that matters. I’m glad that Dr Ji went back to work at the hospital.
Dr Ji was an admirable character and Kim Hae Ee was great in her portrayal.
thank you very much for your recaps, i didn’t have to spend an hour and a half to watch every episode of the series because of you 🙂 thanks for your efforts and for saving my time! <3
Thank you for your effort. Your recap absolutely helped me to understand the whole story of TWOTM. Sometimes, subtitles cannot explain better than written story

Thank you so much 🥰
Thanks for your recap. After and before watching every episode I always visit here to read your recap. It makes me more attached to and makes me more excited reading your recap .♥️❤️♥️
Truly appreciated this recap because I ant believe the story ended so abrupt and open to speculation. This ending needs to be revamped. Where did JY stayed for a year!! He is under 18, who kept him away from his family without letting them know he was safe. I am here wondering now and unhappy with that ending.
Ya I wonder where or what he did for that year. Did she know where he was and let him ?
I’m just glad he came home! In the original British show called Dr. Foster, it ends with her waiting… the end. Horrible Ending!!
Excellent series, this is the first time I am viewing your recaps.
Truly appreciated this recap because I can’t believe the story ended so abrupt and open to speculation.
This ending needs to be revamped. Where did JY stayed for a year? He is under 18, who kept him away from his family without letting them know he was safe. I am here wondering now and unhappy with that ending. My heart is sincerely paining and it is only a series.
to the person who wrote the recap:
hi, im just wondering how u were able to recap all this while watching the show? seems very detailed and im impressed. i cant type that fast. do u do the recapping during the commercials? sorry i have no idea how long the jtbc commercials are. but must be around two mins only? how were u able to type all that in 2 mins? im curious
Thank you so much for your great recaps. You helped me during the lockdown. I am so relieved because of the “happy” ending but I am also so sad because I am leaving Sun Woo. I felt may emotions for 8 weeks. I hoped there would have been more happy moments for episode 16 but I think the ending is satisfying. This drama will stay in my heart, I will rewatch it for sure. But not now… I am currently so emotional. I was really attached to the characters. I do not know what to do/watch after this AWESOME drama….
Was it really TH who left home? or was it the other way around?
Thank you so much for the recap. I came here after I finished the last episode to get my heads together but I still don’t understand why JY ran away? Can someone please explain😭
I think he ran away, because he was angry at both of his parents and he saw no end to the heartache and confusion.
thank you for the recap when the episode ended i was so mad because i didnt except this ending i wanted a happy ending for seun woo i taught that she will start falling in love with the doctor and she will live a happy life with her son because she did all of this for him. but what i loved about the end that it was so realistic because we cant have a happy ending all the time yerim found her happiness and peace whene she left her husband and i think seun woo will after her son came back 😭😭😭 ( but some people say that her son didnt comeback whyyy )
Thanks for the recaps. I really enjoyed your recaps of the show without watching it.
Every episode kept us hooked…expecting to watch Tae Oh and Da Kyung suffer for their deeds and Karma get back to them. But the end was very sad….No one ended up happy …not even Sun Woo and JY.
It’s like Sun Woo was trapped in a barbed wire and the more she tried to free herself, the more she was hurt.
Ultimately, to watch Tea Oh suffer was also not what we had been hoping to feel, that’s to feel satisfied and justified. Because Tae Oh did not suffer alone….with him everyone else did.
Thank you for the translation. Don’t want to watch the episode….
Love your barbed wire analogy. That’s very true, but is often the case with revenge. You want to hurt someone else, but you end up hurting yourself instead.
Thank you for your recaps!!! it is so helpful to get the overall story without watching the movieee 😀
It was such a relieve that this movie finally come to an end, and it was a happy ending even though they didn’t back to a family again. Because no matter what, we can’t fix the broken glasss……
Though they still love each other, It won’t be the same again… like Ye Rim and her husband.
So many lessons learnt on this movie, I love it…
Thanks for your recap..I really appreciate it. I like your passion and your hardwork.

Hello i just want to ask does she know where he is? JY i mean?
Author
They didn’t know where he went for one year. But it looks like he finally came back at the end of the final episode.
Thankyou so much for your recap! Saved me time during busy exam period haha!

You’re welcome, Kim! Good luck on your exams!
I love Sandra & the feisty character that she is. Tony’s character was a leech & he was the main reason why the marriage between him & Sandra fell apart. He used Sandra for his own personal motives & Denise, a willing victim for his next agenda. Tony didn’t care about his original family. All he wanted was for his own advantage. But he made the wrong moves & heartbroken Sandra wanted to make him feel the pain of betrayal. Karma was the lesson here. Joshua was the World for both Sandra & Tony. I felt the pain of Sandra but i was happy she reunited with her son Joshua in the final episode. But i was just thinking as it was never explained fully well in this teledrama, where did Joshua spend his one year of absence? I didn’t care much about Tony as he deserved his sad fate of living on his own without a family now….I love this korean teledrama. Very subtle approach but had strong impact. Can i have a full run of this TWOAMC ? I want to watch it again without cuts…..
Thanks for the recap. Its much appreciated! The last episode didn’t have subtitles while streaming. I watched it anyway and read your recap. This is the best Korean TV drama I’ve seen thus far. I don’t really care for Korean TV dramas, I find most of the shows cheesy. However, this show is the exception! I haven’t enjoyed watching a TV drama this much since Secret Affair, which was the same lead actress. She’s amazing! Great acting, great character building, amazing plot, no happy endings and not cheesy at all. Loved it! I hope this drama inspires Korean TV writers and producers to follow suit. Absolutely amazing!
