Shorthand Character Chart: The King the Eternal Monarch Character Chart
How we do this: This live recap will be in two parts and we segment each post around every 10 minutes. Sometimes sooner, sometimes later depending on the scene. There will be typos which we have fantasies of fixing once the episode finishes airing. Also, if there is a preview then we will try and translate it. Look for that at the bottom or on a separate post!

EUN SEOB AND JO YOUNG
Eun-seob thanks Jo Young for the use of his clothing. He hands it back and says he dry cleaned it. Young tells him he told him he can keep it.
They tell each other to have a nice life. Eun-seob says people meet and leave, goodbye, I wont go too far.
JY – When you get your drivers license, what is you 85th dream?
ES – Dream? I have nothing. *sniffs*
JY – I think you have one. Anyway, goodbye
ES – Already? I HAVE ONE. I have a dream. To see you again. *teary eyed*
He gives him a hug. Jo Young tells him they will see each other. Eun-seob starts crying and Jo Young tries not to cry as ES says, we have to see each other!
HOSPITAL
Tae-eul and Gon sit outside the hospital on a bench. She is cuddled on his arm.
Gon – You said it looks good, but it is uncomfortable
TE – Do you think I told you after trying it? I just said that. But it is really good after doing it. Later, we can do everything that we didn’t do. We can travel together and watch movies together and take pictures together.
Gon – Jung Tae-eul…
TE – Don’t say it.
She sits up.
TE – If you want to say that you have to go, then don’t say it.
TE – I am not going to let you go. Let’s not save the world. Why don’t we just travel between the two worlds and live today only.
TE – I know what your plan is. You want to go back to the past and catch Lee Rim before he comes. Then I won’t remember you. if the two worlds run differently than now. I will live my life without remembering you.
Gon – The two worlds are going too far in the wrong direction *thinks about Song Jung-hye*
Gon – There are too many reasons to turn it back, but that is the only way. So tell me to leave. For the first time in my life, I am asking for someone’s permission. If you stop me then I can’t go.
She holds onto his hand tightly.
TE – Tell me you will be back. it is the 10th time. Tell me you will be back. it is the 11th time, catch Lee Rim. When the door closes, close all the doors in the universe and come back. The 12th time *cries*.
Gon – I will. I will open every door in the universe. And I will come back to you.
They both hug as he says that last part.
CATACOMBS OR TUNNEL
Seo-ryung is called to a tunnel area by Lee Rim. He tells her that he was worried just in case she was depressed. But I should not have worried. The emperor thing is done and your job as Prime Minister is paused. You can’t go any further up.
SR – I am going somewhere wide, not high. I think yours is the umbrella. So what is Lee Gon’s? I want to take it. Isn’t this fun, you and me share one and one.
Rim – There is a better way, you can take this also.
SR – What do you want?
he chokes her and slams her against the wall.
SR – I am angry with you, what I wanted with you was simple. Just get Lee Gon or get the Kingdom of Korea but you lost both of them. There is only one way you can survive. Make a way for me to attend Lee Gon’s mom’s memorial mass. You, me, and the resurrected Empress. Over there I will announce that there is a Kingdom and a Republic of Korea.
Everything suddenly pauses. Lee Rim turns around and says to himself, my nephew finally came back.
he walks back and gets in the car with his cronies. Time starts again. Seo-ryung wonders what is going on. The picture of the Empress is in her hands.

PALACE
Nam finally sees Gon and hugs him. He thanks her for not grabbing him back then. She tells him she knows and pats him on the back.
He goes to his office and is met by his head secretary. He asks what about the Princes funeral? Everyone should suspect my absence.
The secretary says that they did it privately and she announced that he was home alone mourning. All the family members left and explains what they did to make sure that no one suspected his absence.
Gon asks if hyung-nim is limping? She says yes. He tells her to find out wher he is, I will go see him in person.
A car cuts off hyung-nim in the road. This is the King. the hyung-nim gets out of the car angrily and is then sarcastic when he sees the King. Gon asks if he remembers him the night of the coup? the guy that shot you in the leg?
He drops the bullet. Hyung-nim asks, how did you?
Gon – The best thing you did in your life was hiding that from your father. if he knew that you were part of the coup, he would have killed himself. You can never come back to the Kingdom of Korea, even if you are dead.
Hyung-nim tries to plead.
GOn – The son of Lee Jong-in is kicked out of Korea forever!
he leaves and the uncle trips and tries to drag himself up with his hurt leg but he can’t and it’s pitiful.
BRIDGE
Shin-jae stands on a bridge. His real mom walks up to him and asks if it is really him? I am your real mom. Shin-jae moves back a little. She tells him that was her only option back then. I am sorry.
SJ – Did you abandon me or lose me? Did you let my hand go, or was it an accident.
Umma – For your happy life.
SJ – I didn’t live well. *teary* Don’t have any hope. And don’t ask me for forgiveness. I just wanted to see you once. Because I want to wake up from this bad dream. Be well, this time I am abandoning you.
He walks away. She kneels on the ground and cries.
PALACE
Later on, he drinks with Gon in Gon’s favorite small courtyard in the palace. There is beer and fruit to eat.
SJ – I thought the emperor ate really fancy food.
Gon – It all depends on who I drink with
Gon – They prepared it, they looked at you and matched it.
SJ – Is there any more to drink?
Gon – Thank you for today, your mom will not get hurt. This is for when you bought me dinner.
SJ – Okay, thank you for that.
Gon – Where are you going now? Are you going to stay here or go back?
SJ – Where are you going? Are you really going to that room?
GOn – Yes. You go back again.
SJ – Do you really have any guarantee to catch Lee Rim?
Gon – If I only target Lee Rim, then it is possible. If I target him when he is strangling me. At that point, lee Rim is off guard because he is so angry.
SJ – Why didn’t you do that before then?
Gon – If you hear the answer then you will regret asking me. Before I broke the dome and got all the attention to me, I wanted to save my young self.
SJ – But now you are not saving yourself? Then you will disappear.
Gon – If I am successful then all your time in the republic of Korea will disappear. I am turning time back to before Kang Han-min meets Lee Rim. It is he last chance for you to kill me.
SJ – *exhales* I should mix this with something. Does Tae-eul know your plan?
Gon – She shouldn’t know.
GATE
Lee Rim enters the republic of Korea through the gate. He goes to his old style house and tests out some guns with his people. Song Jung-hye is there as well. She looks at him and smiles.
Then she spits up blood and starts laughing. Rim has blood splattered on his face. He looks at her and asks, you, how dare you!
She tells him, now you know, I always wished to die, finally I am dead. She falls to the ground. The doctor runs in to try and save her. She has an antidote. Time stops suddenly.
Lee Rim tries to pull out the antidote, but it won’t come out. So he grabs his gun and cocks it? (Wait, that shouldn’t be able to happen either, right?)
He walks up the frozen street and sees Gon walking up the street as well. They stop in front of each other.
Rim – I even swayed death, but I can’t sway you, how come you are in front of me?
Gon – It is good if I am the only one. But it is not only me. Some people set the date, some people follows you, someone wishes you were caught, someone is against you, how dare you use my mothers memorial mass.
Rim – You should have come there, we should meet each other over there. It shouldn’t end like this.
Rim cocks the shotgun to shoot it.
Gon – There should still be more time left for time to flow again.
Rim – First it was 22 steps. You ruined my world that I would own.
Gon – Because you delayed your death for 25 years, that is why we have this death in the world. That is why we have to finish our fight.
TIme starts again, Rim cocks the gun and aims it at Gon. But then someone shoots Lee Rim in the leg. he falls and looks to this side. Then we see Jo Young and Shin-jae walk up.
Gon checks Rim’s jacket and takes his half of the pipe.
Yong has that half of the pipe and goes to the bamboo forest.
Gon takes his half and goes to the bamboo forest as well. Shin-jae has his gun pointed at Lee Rim who is sitting on the ground.
The gate is not opening, so Gon puts the pipe in Lee Rim’s hand and the gate opens.
Rim – You cannot open my door, you should have guessed. It is because that pipe has my blood.
Jo Young comes running up and gives Gon’s pipe back to him. He tells them to stay there.
Then he walks to the gate and a red gate shows up. It was turquoise before. Rim turns to it in amazement.
Rim – now I finally see this moment, the moment that I was wishing for so much has come.
Gon – I don’t hear the pipe sound
Rim – You have the power and eternity, what are you talking about? Of course the pipe won’t play because it is finally one. Why don’t you forget about the night of the coup. We should both go in.
Gon – The pipe is not playing. If the pipe does not play then I cannot go back to the night of the coup. I have to make another crack.
SJ – Do we have to give him the other piece again.
Rim – You don’t need it anymore. It became one again. Inside the gate you have eternity and eternal power. You only want to use it to go back to the night of the coup?
Gon – I don’t need eternity or unlimited power. You will never see or have that space at all.
Rim – You idiot. Okay, do it. Ask for death. You opened your door but you need someone to go into my door. Who is that? Who will you order to not come back and die inside?
Gon – You did not sway death, you are asking for Gods punishment. I will kill you miserably as possible.
JY – I wills tay there
SJ – i will do it.
JY – I will take care of the rebel
SJ – You go to your world, when should I go?
IN BETWEEN WORLD
Gon stands in he in-between world holding both pieces of the pipe. He asks, how far do you want me to go? How far?
—————–
/6/
POLICE STATION
Tae-eul comes to the station. Shin-jae has Lee Rim there. He asks her if she is discharged? She asks how he caught him?
SJ – I followed Song Jung-hye. Song Jung-hye is dead. I put her as Jane Doe.
TE – Lets go there for her funeral at least.
SJ – We should interrogate him. Follow me.
They go inside.
Elsewhere, Gon and Jo Young witness Song Jung-hye cremation.
COREA
In the Kingdom of Korea, Gon tells his head secretary that he will announce that Jong-in’s granddaughter is second in line to the throne. If anything happens to me then she will become the Emperor.
KOREA
Tae-eul lays on her desk at home, looking at her photo and his dollar bill from the Kingdom of Korea. Then we see the flower that Gon gave her, dropping its petals on her. She picks one up and it disappears.
She looks at the flower and the entire thing disappears. She steps up and runs out.
POLICE STATION
Tae-eul is interrogating Lee Rim.
TE – Where is he pipe? Who has it?
Rim – Do you want to die also?
TE – Who has it?
Rim – Aren’t you afraid? Why are you making these kinds of choices!
TE – I am afraid of him being left alone. I am also afraid of the two worlds staying like this. So you choose. It is better to go in with me, this is your only chance. Who has the pipe?
Rim – if that is what you are afraid of, then to my nephew and Prime Minister Koo, I sent hell to each other them.
Cut to the Kingdom of Corea. The news says that Prince Lee Jong-in’s granddaughter died by a car accident in America.
Everyone is shocked to hear this. We cut to the Prime Minister who drops her computer in shock.
It looks like the granddaughter is a grown pregnant woman that died. So perhaps she was the pregnancy lady we saw earlier. Th same one that Seo-ryung hated.
Seo-ryung is super worried and calls her mother. She asks her what she ate for dinner. her mother asks her if she did not eat dinner yet? Seo-ryung asks her to answer, what did you eat for dinner. Her mother says jajangmyun, what? Do you want to eat something my daughter?
Seo-ryung screams and drops the phone.
—————–
/7/
In Korea, Tae-eul meets with Luna and asks her if she is letting her go because she is dying? Tae-eul tells her she is going far far away. You can be Jung Tae-eul and protect my abogi. And I also want you to steal one thing for me.
Luna walks through the police department. The CSI person asks if she is okay? Luna tells her that the things that should be there are there, goodbye.
Then we go to Tae-eul who is meeting with Shin-jae. He asks how she ran away. She says that she let her go. She also tells him that he has the pipe, give it to me. I hve lee Rim. I wondered why you took Lee Rim, with Korean law you cannot prosecute me. I know it takes 48 hours. You promised to take him to the bamboo forest after 48 hours. Give me the pipe.
Shin-jae tells her if she goes then she cannot go back. Tae-eul says that she cannot be left alone. Please give it to me.
SJ – You really don’t understand, I am not letting you go.
SJ – I wanted to keep this a secret to my death, but that jerk makes me say it. I like you Jung Tae-eul. For my entire life, you are the only person I ever loved. Including one second before. I loved you. So how can Iet you go. How can I watch you die. So shut up and go home.
She tries to grab his arm and he tries to brake free. But she gets ahold of it.
TE – Please, give it to me. I am sorry, I will not say that I did not know your heart. If I say it hurts my heart then that is hypocritical. Just like you like me, I like someone. I will repay you giving me a heartache. So just give it to me. Please. Let me live.
They both stand there with her sobbing and him thinking about what to do.
COREA
Gon looks at his pipe and thinks, God knew that I wont’ save myself. That I would instead try and catch Lee Rim.
He changes into his formal dress uniform for very special occasions. Then he meets with Nam who is praying.
VO – That is why I put that mark on my shoulder in advance. To follow destiny selfishly.
He holds his sword and talks to Nam.
Nam – Your highness?
Gon – I am telling you not to worry anymore.
Nam – For what?
Gon – It should have been lonely to keep my secret and your secret. The poem book was a present to you. he nursery rhyme you sang to me about the mother and sister was in that poetry book.
Nam – I just guessed. But why didn’t you say anything?
Gon – In case you want to go back to your world.
Nam – Emperor….
Gon – I saw a nice poem. This is my request, can you let me go one more time?
Nam – are you coming back?
Gon – You should stay healthy, that is my last order.
He leaves and she sobs.
In Korea, Tae-eul finally opens the necklace that Gon gave her and puts it on. She is sitting in her car.
In Corea, Gon rides to the gate area. Jo Young is there to meet him. He tells him wherever he is going, he cannot go alone. I will be with you wherever it is.
The gate opens, it is green. So it looks like he opened his gate.
They both are on their horses looking at the gate. Then they giddy-up and ride into the gate together.
Epilogue
They go to the palace together and walk into the room shooting everyone

Why did the prime minister asks her mum what she had for dinner then screamed?
Remember in epi 14 she said to her mom .
When anyone asked her mom “what you had in dinner?” She should ans she had maqurel otherwise there will be a big problem. I think they are gonna reveal it in 16 epi. About this thing.
I think it’s a secret hint to the prime minister to ensure that the current mother is her real mother in Corea. If her real mother killed and then is replaced by her doppelganger from Republic of Korea, at least she would know and it is dangerous and terrifying for the prime minister.
Yes you got it right.it is not her real
mother anymore.
It was a secret answer the mom said it jajangmyeon it probably means the real mom is dead.
It was a secret code between both of them. Since she gave the wrong answer, it explains that Lee Lim has made the switch with the parallel world and her real mom is probably dead now.
Because it’s not her Mom, that’s what Lee Rim said sending hell to PM Khoo. In ep 14, PM Khoo told her Mom that when she asked about what she had for dinner, the answer should be Mackerel. And on the phone, the fake Mom answered differently.
She realize her mom is not her mom (alternate version of mom)
Ep 14 koo told her mom “when i ask you what you had for dinner the answer is mackerel “ it’s her code to make sure it’s her real mother, that’s why in ep. 15 She freaked out when her “mom” did not answer mackerel, meaning it’s not her real mother.
She told her real mom to always answer Mackerel whenever she asks what she had for dinner. She screamed because she knows Lee Lim already killed her real mom and replaced her.
it means that is not her mother cause her answer is different than what she asked her in ep14.. maybe its the woman from the republic
😅 A little harsh, but I fully understand the sentiment. I’ve seen the vitriolic and mean-spirited comments in the other sites, and I’ve had enough. I understand that not everyone likes this drama but I don’t get why the detractors are trying so hard to convince others not to like it. I’ve turned to Dramamilk because the comments section isn’t that toxic (albeit some of the recapper’s comments seem to be echoing the other sites). I love this drama, precisely because it’s not your typical K-drama.
I guess people are so fed up. Since their life is complicated now they have to watch this complicated drama. They are just letting out their frustation I guess. But it is disheartening to see those comments. They are so used to watching the same drama story line up. I guess a change in it is bit too much to handle. They are just missing so much fun. Complex is beautiful.
By the way, thanks for recommending Bitches Over Dramas – what a revelation! A site where viewers can share their theories and analyses in a respectful manner.

Please feel free to love or hate a drama. Ranting on a show should not take away another persons love of the show. These two things are not mutally exclusive. They can exist at the same time.
Drama Milk is a place for rants or raves. All are welcome here. Sometimes you really just have to get something off your chest. Just please do not attack another commenter for sharing a different opinion from you. This is literally why the world is burning right now.
Once again, everyone is welcome here. I respect everyones opions. I love all theories, I love all rants, and I love all raves.
That is extremely impolite thing to say that when there was nothing bad said here about this drama….what qualifications is necessary to understand this drama, do enlighten us since you seem the fitness of understanding drama police here.
I’m sorry if my comment has offended you. No person is perfect. Every one is born without knowledge. But they can gain knowledge with experience and reading.
So that’s why I have given you the guide. It is upto you if you want to give your precious time or not. There is absolutely no need for any qualifications but some brain exercise.
I guess people would laugh at me if I said they need qualifications to watch a drama.lol
We are just watching it for entertainment.
And just read the comments below and before episodes if you have time.

Honestly, people should have a space to rant as well as rave about a drama. Eveyrone is watching because they want to love it or because they love the actors or the characters or the writers or the directors or the scenery or the fantasy or because it is a group watch in quarantine or whatever. There are many reasons to watch.
Drama Milk is a space where people can rant or rave. If anyone is harrassed for doing either then their comments will be deleted.
I encourage everyone to engage with a comment from a person who see the drama as they see it. if it is a rant on the drama then get all your feelings out. If it is a rave on the drama then get all those feelings out. it is all love in the end over here for Kdramas.
Once again, do not harrass anyone for hating or loving a drama. Their opinion does not negate your opinion. This is honestly why so many protests are going on in the world right now. So lets all just get that straight and live happily with each other.
Once again, it is all love in the end over here, y’all.

Yes, I am unfit. Bitches Over Dramas is actually an amazing site with lots of insight and analysis. Definitely recommended. Because all you will get over here is confusion.
I agree with you. Show is too confusing. I think this is one of the worst k dramas I have watched. Such poor story telling.
Totally disagree. I love this drama precisely because it’s complex and intriguing.
Author
I love both your opinions and both are welcome.
I disagree. This show demands more attention than any other kdrama I’ve watched, but the rewards are immense. Such a cerebral fantasy. I’m going to need a good rom-com after this, to decompress!
Author
Try Drama Mate! I am enjoying that one so far.
Will do! Thanks.
such a logicless drama. wasted potential. the fault is with writer not the director.
I wonder if you’re still watching this drama, notwithstanding that you find it “logicless”? If yes, then that means you haven’t given up on it entirely and, if so, you might want to check out Bitches Over Dramas for some insights, if you’re minded to do so.
Author
It is okay for someone to see this show a logicless and it is okay for someone to see this show as the most perfect creaton on the planet.
Lord knows I have loved some shows that others have found to be the most stupid thing in existence.
Open your minds people! The complexity of this drama is what makes it unique. So nice to see love stories evolving instead of the usual. I have been confused at times especially with characters from both worlds but I got the gist and enjoyed it most of the time! The writers are really stretching our imagination and I love it!
Thanks for the recap drama milk. You are always my go to for better understanding of the dramas.

😘
This show is simply excellent and of course very different. Yes, it is complex and the pace was a bit slow in the beginning because of all the questions it was leading to and partially due to editing, but it remained interesting throughout. The lead couple’s relationship is quite adult and they are both so good together. It is a win for the actors and production team to make people care about the characters. I also don’t mind exploring a show with the help of reviews/analysis, the way I did with this one through bitchesoverdrama.
And I am glad dramamilk decided to stay with this show too even if they are at times confused by the story.

We try to stick till the end! Also, love your take, RMB! 😘

Hello Everyone,
I just want to reiterate that all opinions are welcome here. Rant as much as you want or rave as much as you want. In the end it is all love. ♥️
The world is literally burning because people are not being respected and treated as human beings. So no matter how you feel about a drama it is important to understand that someone else might not feel the same way and that is okay as well. The way someone else feels does not negate the way that you feel. Perhaps you might learn something from them if you were to listen to why they love the show or why they do not love the show.
Of course everyone loves something about this show, which is why everyone is still watching it. They either love the premise or the actors or the fantasy aspect or the setting or any number of things. And that is wonderful. Everyone is not cookie cutter, everyone is different. And shoot, sometimes you just want to rant about how you thought this show would be and it isn’t turning out that way. Other times you might want to rave about how you just absolutely love how complicated this show is and go into detail about that. Both are wonderful and welcome.
But attacking someone for their different opinion will not be tolerated here. I want this to be a comfortable space where whether you agree with a show or disagree with a show its all good. So if you love the show then engage with people who love it and have expressed a comment showing that. If you absolutely want to rip all your hair out about it then engage with people who feel that way.
Respect each other and everyone’s opinions and lets all rant or rave together because half the time that is exactly what kdramas are for, they are emotional beasts after all.
In the end, lets all just send a bit more tolerance for our fellow humans out into the world.
I love you all and I love that you are coming to this site.
Best wishes and drama watching,
V 😘
Agree!
Sometimes I watch dramas because they are well plotted and executed. Other times, I watch because it takes my minds off things, no matter how illogical it. It’s just fun to sit back.
My only problem is when people are recapping or commenting about actors and being snarky about it. I mean, think about how would you (in general) feel if someone was ripping about something or someone you love and you can across it on your way online?
“The way someone else feels does not negate the way that you feel.” It doesn’t but if you read some of the comments, it makes you feel bad about yourself liking something or someone.
Author
Emblem, continue shouting to the world that you love it! I love reading about how much people love a show even if I don’t. I let everyone in the world know that I loved The Third Charm even though it seemed like everyone else hated it or were (even worse) meh about it. lol. But they loved that I loved it and gave me a lot of condolences when that show ended up jumping the shark in the third act and tore my heart out. 😭😭😭😭
“Complex” is beautiful but “illogical” is not. There are lots of logical problems in this show, poor pacing, “Deus ex machina” moments( how did Yo-Yo boy suddenly appear and rescue Tae-ul? Why did Lee Gon and Tae-ul never have any kind of password? Why were so many peripheral characters introduced to no purpose? How did the book store manage to shelter about forty guys who all got killed at once? Why waste an entire episode on a conflict between Japan and Korea?)
The show was very badly written and edited BUT BUT BUT
We’ve enjoyed it anyway.
If you want a great show that ISNT badly done, go watch W:A Tale of Two Worlds, or Nine Times Time Travel, which handles the time paradoxes quite well.
This show has been MUCH less than it could have been, but was fun anyway.
V as usual thank you for getting this review up so quickly & I hear you about how confusing it has all of a sudden become. Your one line comment literally has me cracking up with laughter because it is so true (& in these times I definitely need laughter).
I love this drama, I have already started to rewatch the episodes and even seen some of them several times over but even I have lost track of how it works and why it works. The last 3 episodes have really thrown all the theories/logic out of the window. Its as if the team gave up trying and are just giving us an ending – any ending.
I will have to carefully rewatch the last 3 episodes to unpick the “logic” of how its all meant to work. Like I said last week, I believe that having only one episode has affected the momentum of the show and staggered the revelations in an unhelpful way.
Personally, I LOVE how new this drama is. I can definitely say that I have never seen anything like it.
As someone said, we have two adults in a relationship, two people who know who they are and what they want. I love their openess and candidness with one another, there is no angst & im here for that.
There are of course flaws in the story telling and pacing but those are not capital crimes. Its not the worst drama I have ever seen and it has GREAT rewatch-ability – this is an important factor because what’s a great drama if you cant rewatch it? – im looking at you Goblin – Has anyone tried to rewatch Goblin, its like torture how slowly the story moves.
Anyway – thanks again!
Author
Always welcome! 😘. This drama has me cracking up all the time with making sense of it. But I do love the premise and of course the actors are lovely! The dopplegangers really have me hooked, I can’t get enough of that storyline.
This episode has me totally confused. Yet, I was bawling my eyes out when LG and JTE said good-bye. So while I don’t know what the hell is going on and I’m pretty sure there are major gaps in logic here, I still find this show does some magical things. Can’t wait until next week.
Author
Same, lol.
I think she told her mum to always answer Mackerel as what she had for dinner to act as a code for her to know if Lee rim would eventually change her mother. So when she asked her mother what she had for dinner and she didnt say mackerel she figured Lee rim has exchanged her mum with someone from Republic of Korea.
Can someone explain to me who the pregnant lady is? Isn’t she supposed to be pm koo’s sister or ex sister in law? And then the part about se jin being killed in the accident, who is it? Is her friend actually lee se jin? So is the one killed in the car accident the ROk or Corea version? I m so confused!
Author
This was confusing to me too. I thought the pregnant woman that they always show was a political rival’s wife. In this episode they said that the 2nd heir to the throne was a woman who was pregnant. Which of course made me think that they were the same woman. So these women could be different women or they could be the same women. I think we will find out in the next episode.
Right now I am leaning to them being different woman because I thought heirs to the throne could not reside in the Kingdom of Corea?
Maybe it’s a subtitles translation problem.
Se Jin (the heir to the throne) was killed in an accident in the US. She was not in Corea. The accident was caused by the pregnant woman, who is PM Koi’s relative.
Author
Gotcha!
Maybe it’s a subtitles translation problem.
Se Jin (the heir to the throne) was killed in an accident in the US. She was not in Corea. The accident was caused by the pregnant woman, who is PM Koi’s relative.
Exact! the pregnant woman who has already been changed by her double is used to cause the accident and kill the descendant … .. this is what PM Koo realizes … ..then she remembers her mother and calls her to see if she was also changed … confirming that it was so … but it could be that it was not changed only that the mother does not have the memory of what the daughter indicated to her due to the change of time

Oh thank you! Oh, that is sneaky of Lee Rim!
I wonder how the King and TE met and fell in love, can’t it be that the King fell in love at 9 years old for having the insignia, is there something that is not said yet and is how and when he fell in love with it ??? ??
I think the mystery in someone coming to save him at the point of his ‘almost’ death and him getting JTE’s ID Card inspired some sort of curiosity from 8 year old Lee Gon. That curiousity grew to some sort or longing, the need to identify someone he feels indebted to and which possibly led to love as he grew over the years. You know his young self never imagined that it was him who saved himself. Due to the mystery, anyone would think it’s JTE who saved him. I think the possibility of him loving her just because of that might not be usual, but for how Lee Gon’s character is, I’ll say it’s plausible. I mean, he’s an only orphan child who has to take up responsibilities at such a young age with very few people around him that he could trust. He’s also a geek who loves spending time alone solving math problems. Obviously, the possibility of falling in love with a mysterious woman from an ID CARD could grow from such a person. That’s just my suggestion though.

You know, when you bring up the geekiness of him locked away in a room solving problems and staring at the ID card, I can definitely see him falling absolutely head over heels with this woman, lol 😂
The confusing part of this drama reminds me of “W”. I LOVE that show but I was so confused at times I believe rewatched it multiple times (they also have a special to explain everything, which helps, :))
Going back to The King, it’s even more complicated due to the “two-axis” involve – time and dimension. It was not a big problem when they were only jumping between the two parallel worlds. But when time traveling is involved? That’s where I got lost. I start wondering in certain scenes if that’s TE or if that’s Luna.
Anyway, there is only one more episode remaining and I am sure I will probably rewatch the show multiple times. 🙂
I think they were hints to be able to differentiate Tae eul from Luna and one of it is that Luna always wear black (probably why tae eul always wore bright coloured cloth and never black). I think its like the doppelganger case in the American series (Vampire diaries )with Elena and Katherine because Katherine always wore black except when she wants to imitate Elena but in this case even as Luna is acting as tae eul her choice of clothes never changed because she still wore her black.
Good point!

Oh my gosh!!!! Did not notice that!
Honestly, I have to agree. I turned to this site over dramabeans because the re-cappers think they have superior knowledge of drama land and think they are singly handily fighting for justice through dramas.
And let’s not even talk about toxic comments.
