KOREAN DRAMA THE KING: ETERNAL MONARCH RECAP EPISODE 12 – PART 2
——-dramamilk.com——-
#4
Three men in the Kingdom of Korea talk about how the King is a trouble maker. He went out to suppress the troublemakers himself and now he is announcing the Empress?
The camera pulls away so see that there are actually a lot of men talking about this all around a meeting table. One of the men says that announcing the new Empress among a blood zone is symbolic. We have to find out which family she is from.
They wonder how long the Prime Minister will be in bed. They have the empress being announced and the Prime Ministers ratings went down so she should be sick.
The man at the head of the table says that when the in-laws are in power then that is big trouble for the country. Even the fish market mom created a lot of trouble. We need to find out everything we can about her.
They all get started looking up information on Tae-eul.
KOREA
Luna looks at the phone list in her phone. She goes to eat something at a chicken place and looks through her cell phone at whatever is in it. It looks like she is looking through Tae-euls cell phone.
She sees that Tae-eul searched how to keep a flower alive.
Then their group talk starts. The cops talk back and forth about what they should eat for dinner. This is real time. Rose says that he saw that they are checking the message so what do you think we should eat?
POLICE STATION
All the officers show up at the police station and wonder where Tae-eul is. One of the cops tells Shin-jae that Tae-eul went on vacation. The boss wonders why his employees are doing this to him and taking turns with their vacations?
Shin-jae looks at his phone and sees a message from Tae-eul that says she is getting some fresh air, don’t worry.
COREA, PALACE
Tae-eul wakes with a start. The doctor tells her not to worry, he is just exchanging some of her things. The head nurse is there as well and tells her not to worry, the Emperor wants me to bring you out.
Tae-eul goes downstairs, all the maids are outside so Tae-eul asks what is going on. They tell her that the emperor is washing rice in his uniform. She asks, what? Then peeks inside.
he is indeed washing rice in his pristine white uniform. He tells her that she is wake now? You should have woken up earlier. She closes the door. He asks, where are you going? I am washing this for you!
Tae-eul is a bit embarrassed outside so she puts on a smile and goes back inside the kitchen and tells him to make it! Okay!
Nam is not happy about this at all, but she does not say anything about it.
He makes her a nice spread of a meal. She says that she could not leave because she was hungry. You do not have a middle ground.
Gon – That is why I am a natural born minister. When you search, I am the King.
TE – I told you I am sensitive before I eat.
Gon – Enjoy this slowly.
TE – It might not have been me, what if it is a me lookalike?
Gon – I am dating someone who is crossing the universe. But that person ties her hair in an important moment. And she couldn’t tie it properly so some hair sticks out. And she does not know it because she does not see it. And before talking, you want beer, not tea. You mix beer and soju.
TE – *chuckles*
Gon – But, when she needs courage then she becomes a warrior, she is that kind of person.
TE – Eat and we can go see Eun-seob.
Gon – if I feed you, you say what you want to say?
TE – But where are my clothes? I did not see them, did you wash them?
#5
Cut to them standing and racks of clothing are rolled in for them. She asks, no dresses? He tells her that the dresses are on that side and even more dresses are rolled in. She mutters that she was joking. Then she picks out something.
He tells her that he knew it, he was just bragging that he had this many pretty dresses.
She notices his emperor clothing. She ask when he wears that outfit? He says it is the most important moment. Like the moment I held flowers. What flowers do you like?
She remembers him giving her flowers in that outfit. He said he never gave her flowers and crossed the universe to give it to her.
In the present, she tells him that she doesn’t like flowers (okay, this scene makes it seem like the flower scene did not happen yet to Gon? Like perhaps he came from the future and gave her flowers?).
She goes to change. Inside the jacket pocket is a pink box with a necklace inside. She puts it on. But then she takes it off and puts it back inside the box.
Later, he asks her if she found something inside the pocket? She starts to talk about a plum tree blossom. She says it was pretty and has symbolism for Korea. It was so pretty so she wanted to wear it in an honorable moment when she doesn’t have any wound.
She also asks, how did you know that I would pick these clothes? He doesn’t answer and says that they should go.
But we see a flashback of his employees taking the pink box out of all the pockets.
HOSPITAL
Eun-seob gets word that the King is coming to visit him. But then he hears someone say, Seob! he turns his head and sees Tae-eul there.
He runs up and hugs her. Tae-eul happily hugs him as well. he explains how brave he was. he asks her why she looks like that , she says she just had something and tells him he did a good job.
Gon tells Eun-seob that he brought his favorite bread from that store so they sit to have some. They actually eat a cake bread that is rolled and stuffed. He says it is super good and thinks that his siblings would like it a lot.
Tae-eul asks if he thinks about Nari? He kind of says no. Tae-eul tells him that Nari and Young do not have a good relationship. He is not as handsome as before. Eun-seob says he told him that style was not good, I knew he would do that.
WAREHOUSE
Cut to Gon and Tae-eul at the warehouse where she was abducted. Dozens of people are there spraying something in a CSI kind of way. Tae-eul and Gon are wearing face masks.
They go outside and talk about Lee Rim and how he was the one that should have abducted her. he asks if she saw that umbrella in his hand? I told you that we both have half of what the other wants. I think he hid that in his umbrella. He should know where mine is.
She thinks that whoever takes that thing, the door closes to whoever took it. So there is a war of who gets it first? Gon says no, it is a war of not getting yours taken. This is an all or nothing fight.
She tells him that he is at a disadvantage in this situation. You should have it. He asks, what should I do? You shouldn’t yell at me about it. She starts to sniffle. He tells her not to worry. He will not take it from me. If you still worry then we can pray together for the gods blessing.
#6
Later on, they walk hand in hand to a temple. Gon tells her that it is the only place that is the same in the two different worlds. She asks, really? Why did you find it? He says that his parents got married here. My father fell in love with my mother after he gave a speech at a seminar. It was the world science forum. My mother was a scientist. My mother was catholic so my father studied Catholicism every week here. That is how they got married and had me. Mother died three years later, she was weak. I don’t remember it, I just heard it. I am happy that you are listening to it.
Tae-eul tells him that he grew up well. They also omitted a lot of things. When I was five, my dad and mom ran the gym together. She was a popular coach, but died from cancer. I still wear my mothers blackbelt.
He softly pats her head and says that she grew up well.
The catholic priest comes out to greet Gon. He says he did not hear that he was coming. Gon tells him it is not official, I just stopped by. Can you keep a secret well?
The Priest says yes. Gon asks if he can take a photo of them? I want to have her photo.
So the Priest takes a photo of them, but the time stops. It should be for a long time this time. Gon looks at her, frozen and Nam voices over.
VO – What is the reason that you are doing this? Just sitting at the creek alone.
Nam is reading the poetry book.
VO – When the green plants sprout. And the water is waving with the spring wind. Your promise of leaving but not leaving forever was there. Every day sitting by the creek. Thinking about something.
Gon starts to cry.
VO – Living, but not living forever. Is that the request not to forget?
He rubs the tears away from his eyes and steps away for a moment. Then he steps back and takes the photo. Time starts again right when he smiles.
PALACE
Tae-eul sits in bed. The doctor tells him no drinking and all those doctorly things. Gon stands next to the bed.
After the doctor leaves, he asks her, drinking? She tells him that it is just one drink for circulation. I am tired, just go.
He reminds her that this is his room. She says, oh, yeah. So where did you sleep? He says here, next to you when you were sleeping. It is a big bed.
She hits him and asks if he is crazy! But then the lighting and thunder strikes and he grips his shoulder. She sys she did not hit him that hard. So he tells her about the wound he has that Young told him about.
Actually, everyone gets this lighting scar all across them.
Tae-eul asks, what happened? Gon tells her that he thinks this is the side effect of crossing both worlds. Are you okay? She says she thinks she is okay and unbuttons her shirt to show him.
He turns his head and feigns surprise. She tells him that he sees way more than this in summer. But he takes a peek and tells her that it is fine. Then they talk about crossing the door. There must have been a rule that was broken.
She asks, is it that? She mentions luck about getting stuck by lighting. He mutters something about executing her. She leans her neck forward and says that he should execute her then.
He leans in and kisses her neck.
TE – Hey…
Gon – I told you about the execution.
TE – I will kill you
He kisses her again. They look at each other and keep kissing.
LEE RIM, KOREA
Lee Rim bumps into Shin-jae but they do not notice each other. They apologize. Lee Rim walks away, his face does that lighting strike thing. But it looks like Shin-jae does not see it.
Lee Rim goes to his office and starts to look at CCTV footage of someone. It looks like it is footage of Luna. it might be live footage actually? Luna goes to a room and starts to take money out of the room. It looks Like Lee Rim is angry about it.
Luna even waves the money at the camera and then leaves.
Later on, Lee Rim eats dinner with Song Jung-hye. They eat quietly. She eats some of all the food and then he eats it. But she grabs a vase and hits him over the head with it and tries to escape. He throws her to the ground and holds his umbrella right to her eyeball. She yells for him to just kill her.
He drips blood all over her and says he did not leave her alone to kill her like this. You are the best bait. That is why you are alive. if your son is alive, then he will grow up like that because you have my nephews face.
The camera cuts to Gon’s calculations, it was 4489 seconds this time which is equivalent to 1.2469 hours.
#7
HOTEL
The pregnant woman asks if she can enter the room? The manager says that she can wait. The woman asks, what about the room? The manager says that the Prime Minister is using the room.
So the pregnant woman goes into the room and sits with the Prime Minister. They aren’t exactly happy to see each other. Seo-ryung says that she is letting her sit here for her baby, not her. Seo-ryung says that she is going to have a daughter not a son. The woman asks, what?
But then the woman says her husband will go with her when she tours the countries of Arabia. Seo-ryung tells her that her husband is a family man. He talks about work at home? he wastes a lot of time.
The pregnant woman says that Seo-ryung is the picture girl for wasting time. You had all this work but will not be the empress.
Seo-ryung asks what she is talking about? The woman asks, don’t you know? Have you been that sick? The emperor announced who the empress will be. The Prime Minister checks her phone and reads the news about it.
the woman says that she needs to be the Prime Minister again or she will go back to being a fish mongers daughter. Seo-ryung stands and tells the woman to happily give birth. I hope you do it in the Kingdom of Korea.
She walks away. The woman wonders what she is talking about.
PALACE
Gon walks with one of his guards. The guard says that Lee Sung-do complained about pain. It happens whenever it rains.
The head secretary comes up to him and says that the Prime Minister came in without notice. Gon asks where she is.
he goes to met her in his study and tells her that she had a long sick leave. How do you feel? She says that an unexpected news woke her up. He says they can talk about it after he says what he wants. You pulled the leash, why did you do that?
She says, if I did not do it then where were you about to go? To a marriage proposal?
He tells her, okay, let’s talk about it. Then the conversation can progress.
Gon – What was announced is all true. She is the one I love.
SR – You are always honest.
But then the lighting strikes and Seo-ryung has pain in her neck along with Gon. So Gon realizes that she went to Korea and she realizes that he did.
They both stare at each other.
In another part of the palace, Nam sits for tea with Tae-eul. She tells her that it rains a lot since we are on the sea, that is one of the disadvantages. Please, drink your tea. She starts to say that Tae-eul should be mad about how Nam behaved, but please understand that it is all about the Emperor.
Tae-eul says she understands. Nam tells her she will ask her some questions. Will you answer without saying anything back?
Nam – i trust that you will not speak to anyone about it since you work for the government.
TE – Please tell me.
Nam – My name is No Ok-nam. (talks about her father and mother and siblings). I was born in 1932 in the North. I left there at 17 and haven’t heard from my hometown for 67 years. That is why I am asking you, what happened to the war after that? In June of 1950, the war happened.
Tae-eul starts to breath deeply. Nam keeps looking at her.
Fade Out
COMMENTS
Okay, so a lot of revelations at the end of this episode. For one, I did not realize that everyone has that lighting strike thing. But it makes sense that they do. It is also a bit confusing because Tae-eul did not have it so do you need to cross over more than once? Or perhaps if the person is dead in the other world then you have that lighting strike?
I was sad to see that the Prime Minister is actually the one that was on the other side. I started to like her so I wanted her to remain good. So if the theory of only the people with dead doppelgängers have the lighting skin, then does that mean that the Prime Minister killed her doppelgänger?
Or perhaps the doppelgänger has already taken over for the Prime Minister and killed her? I don’t know, I am just so confused.
The Nam revelations was also pretty big! So she is originally from Korea and from North Korea? Or perhaps she has just read the poetry book and knows a bit about what happened in Korea and is testing Tae-eul with it to see if she is from that other world? They showed her reading the book, so I feel like that is the case. Perhaps her photo is also in the authors photo section at the end of the book. So she would be like, whaaaaaat?
There is one inconsistency that I have to force to make sense, which is when time stopped while they were taking the photo. It seemed as if time stopped for only 2-3 minutes. Enough for Gon to cry a bit and wipe his tears and then pose for the photo. But technically it should have stopped for almost an hour and a half. So he should have been sitting on the side crying and then left for a bite to eat or something and came back. But I will just assume that almost an hour and a half passed and it only seemed like a few minutes passed.
So I wish they would have shown more time passing and Gon crying the entire 80+ minutes and then wiping his tears and posing for the photo again. But that is a minor gripe.
One thing I do like is that things are happening now and the worlds are getting even more convolted. This is what I signed up for, so bring it on!

Gon – We shouldn’t do it only today.
Luna – If you see me then you are dead.

I totally did not see the reveal about Court Lady Nam coming! and I am as confused as you about the lightning scars. Also, Tae Eul recognized the uniform Lee Gon was wearing when he visited her from the future. And Luna is NOT partnering with Lee Lim, although I imagine she is still a “free agent” at this point. I am hoping she comes over to the good side, especially because she seemed remorseful when she was telling the child (fate) that she was going to do something bad.
All in all, I love that this drama looks like it has its act together. We shouldn’t understand it all at this point, and now I have faith that in the end it will be without any major story holes.
And, omg, after all the criticism of Lee Min Ho when he was in his “Joseon king” mode in the earlier episodes for his wooden acting, hand this man an Oscar (or the equivalent) for how he is knocking his portrayal of this complex character out of the park!
Author
It does seem like they have found their story and are sticking to it.
Omg the details of the drama!
Yes he did travel from the future in the last episode when he wore that special suits. She’s already mentioned that she knew he was from the future in that scene. And reading the recap tonight I realized that the reason those forget me nots look so fake was because they were frozen in time?!
It’s gotta be because their doppelgänger has been killed and it’s gods way of letting them know s/he is not happy about it. That the two worlds are not parallel anymore for those characters. Otherwise Jo and ES plus TE would all be feeling it.
Author
Yes, I think it has to have something to do with the dopplegangers. Also, it looks like the pregnant lady might have a bigger role than first imagined since a doppelganger is her secretary or something now?
If the pain from scars is because their dopplegangers died I guess that means court lady also passed away naturally…? But how come leegon pays price for Lee rim killer his doppelganger…:( I wonder if the prime minister was always referring to Lee rim when she said she was going to be queen. How much time has passed for her to jump on board with his plans and end up in republic of Korea so fast…?? Have ID and everything…??I also wonder way back when if things in the worlds are messed up because the flute was broken in half…And when it’s restored whether it would help to restore both worlds.
Rewatched it tonight and now wondering if where they’re having pain marks where their doppelgänger was killed. And since they’ve basically hinted is a curse, when the doppelgänger is killed the one left is cursed to suffer pain where/how they were killed.
For LR it was neck area so his face shines? For his sidekick was the other guy shot in the leg?
For Lee San Do it was stomach so the other guy died with wound there?
When he gave her the flowers I didn’t realize that he was from the future. But it makes sense that there is/will be time travel because LG saw that video of TE walking by Yo-yo boy/Fate that is time stamped 2022. Also someone travels back in time to help the young LG survive the traitors and leave him with the TE badge.
I have no idea what any of this means, but I really enjoyed these last two episodes. Can’t wait to see what happens next week.
About tbe scar, yeah even I think it’s like being punished for not keeping the balance(i.e when the person from the another world dies before time, and it’s taken over by the one from the different world, then world looses it’s balance, that’s what the child(fate) before letting tae eul out said, that he is trying to keep the balance) and crossing over the worlds, that could be the reason why tae eul not getting any pain or scar, even for that matter shin jae has also crossed over, but he is also not getting any scar, that could be because the real shin jae would have died naturally.
About the court lady though…. That was one hell of a twist , if she belonged to korean republic, her existence and the reason how she crossed ove , all are going to be a one hell of turn of events
It’s most likely, going to be the prime minister koo , who would have killed the other one , , but there was no reason for her to kill the other one, she was already a part of kingdom, may be Lee lim had made some kinda deal and it would be one of his henchmen who killed the other one, although can’t ignore the fact that she was a pure evil from the begining, who wants to take over the kingdom either by hook or crook.
Author
The court lady was a big twist. I did not expect that at all!
please can someone explain to me why Gon was crying when time stoped
Author
My guess is that one day time will stop eternally and he won’t be able to be with her at all because his time will keep going?
I think he was emotional about his feelings towards her…knowing he could have lost her caught up to him and has he’s stated before seeing her beauty…that’s why I think he didn’t hold back when he kissed her this time…
The way I saw it was that he realized how he didn’t have much time left with her because every time he or Lee Rim opened the door, the time-stop thing would continue until time stopped altogether. So he now has an even bigger issue than before. Now, it’s almost like the fate of both universes are in jeopardy, and even though he’s trying to have a nice moment with his girl, he is once again reminded how fleeting their moments are together. At least that’s how I saw it.
The boy who helped her is the same boy in episode 4 who made her lose her id. That’s why she said you are here too. His hair doesn’t look as thick and he appears cleaner. 🤷🏽♀️
Does anyone understand the prime minister’s political party and the King’s relationship? Why are they always worried about their ratings relative to the king. Isn’t it against other political parties..? I dont really understand the political landscape
I think that’s because whether they like it or not, the events that have to do with the King can affect their political aspirations as a party. The King definitely also has more authority than the politicians can wield. That’s why they want someone from a high standard in society because almost probably, that person will be on their side and do as they please since they’ll be the same. They always hated the fact that Prime Minister Koo came from a poor social standing and yet they couldn’t control her. So I guess they are trying to avoid that by having someone of high status as queen
Is the young boy Gon from the past? I have to say just when I thought I was intune with this series, I have become confused again. I probably need to rewatch some of the prior episodes to get in sync. i have to say many of you here at this site are really good at catching the fine points, thanks for doing that. I will keep watching.
Okay, my patience for this drama is finally worth it. This is so what I signed up for, like this episode has been the best so far for me.
I can sense that some sort of feisty conflict will happen between Lee Rim and Luna because he might not be able to control her. The way she came into that apartment, looked in the camera without fear, took money and even dropped her cigarette butt riled him so much! And also, did anyone else notice that he has many types of that umbrella in that apartment? I was confused like, whaaatttt??? Are they just fake ones to act as a cover up for the original or is there something we don’t know?
And also, I always knew Prime Minister Koo had bad vibes written all over her from Ep 1. I suspect that she’s been on this Lee Rim’s scheme for a long time and just feigned ignorance, Urrrrrgggh! And Court Lady Noh, it could be that the original tale of the Manpasijeok from the first Ep could be what possibly made her move between worlds or she’s just testing JTE by what she’s seen from that book
The fact that Nari had a dream seeing her doppleganger and Eun Seob’s, that’s something I’d like that they that build up on. And I can finally say I’m into the romance story line now. I didn’t feel it in the past but I felt connected and could feel the emotions without cringing in these last two episodes. I’m so happy everything is coming to place.
My reaction was the same about the umbrellas….. they have to be cover ups, right?…
I also wondered if the 2 police officers were legit because they spoke into the radio when Lee Gon was passing by in the motorcade…
I also hope the umbrellas are cover ups, unless it will be very complicated to understand.
I didn’t even think of the possibility that those cops might be working for Lee Rim. I think they are legit cops
I wonder if where in their bodies the burning scar appear has any meaning?
Gon has his on his upper back/ near shoulder, Lee Rim has his on his cheek (Is it always on his left cheek?), PM Koo has hers on her front neck (Unless it was for the convenient story plot for Gon to find out, coz imagine if she had hers on her chest, back or bum… Gon would never find out ^.^), 2 traitors in the dungeon – one has his on his stomach and another on his leg. I think definitely the scar appears on the surviving doppelgänger if the other one is dead. Initially I thought only when the surviving one killed the other one themselves! But not in the case of Gon. His doppelgänger was killed by Lee Rim. So, as long as the other one died being killed by someone from the other world, the surviving one will have the burning scar. If died naturally, then no scar. Shin Jae doesn’t have the burning scar, as his doppelgänger in Korea died naturally from illness (or didn’t he?). But looks like Shin Jae’s Corea Mom purposely left him there for Lee Rim to transport across. It can’t be that Lee Rim coincidently found a sick dying boy in Korea and made a swapping deal with the Mom in Corea, but for what? What’s in it for Corea’s Mom to lose a boy? So she can be “single” and serve in the Palace as Lee Rim’s spy? Willingly or being threatened? I would have thought the deal should have been with Korea’s Mom so she could have a healthy new boy, but she seems to not aware of all this.
Lady Noh… I had to google the place: Pyoksong – Hwanghae, to understand the significance. To be honest, when I first watched it, I thought she knew about the June 1950 Korean war because Gon told her about it or she was enquiring about her families in Korea (just like Tae-Eul being curious if her Mom was still alive in Corea). But seeing all comments here, I realised the theory is Lady Noh is from Korea?!!! Ommo….
I want more Eun-Seob and Yeong!!! Eun-Seob has to come out of hospital soon and gives us all the comedic blunders he makes as being himself, not being Yeong-self when guarding the King lol lol It’s amazing how he can switch on and off between cute chaotic Eun-Seob and cool serious Yeong!!
About the length of time freeze… Does it go up (longer) only when either Lee Rim or Gon crosses? Or it goes up regardless who crosses the door? The last time Gon crossed, it froze for 3,721 seconds, the next one is 4,489 secs which he circled on his board. But since then weren’t there 4 crossing happened? Luna to Korea, Tae-Eul to Corea, Prime Minister Koo to Korea and then Prime Minister Koo back to Corea. How was it still 4,489 secs? Should it be next 4 multiplies down…. 6,889 or 7,821.
Lee Rim’s umbrella… In the CCTV when Lee Rim watched Luna raided his cash, near the door there are many umbrellas identical to Lee Rim’s manpasikjeok umbrella!!! He keeps many as decoy… or he has travelled to many timeline (past and future) to collect them?
You know it’s still not really clear to us how Lee Rim transports them between worlds that frequently. I think he’s too busy to always be there to transport them so there has to be an explanation for that. It could be linked to the many umbrellas they showed in that apartment. And yes, you could be right about him going in time to collect many of the manpasijeok for the sake of aiding trqnspo6for his underlings. Maybe it’s only when those who are with one side of the Manpasijeok (Lee Rim and Lee Gon) that the freezing time thing affects them since they are the main people involved.
My reaction was the same about the umbrellas….. they have to be cover ups, right?…
I also wondered if the 2 police officers were legit because they spoke into the radio when Lee Gon was passing by in the motorcade…
4 more episodes. all our questions will be answered.
i need more scenes of en seob, jo young, sin je, luna. these actors are damn awesome. they deserve more screen space.
reg the scars… i guess it has something to do with how the doppelganger died. probably PM Koo could have stabbed her doppelganger on chest. Lee Rim killed his DP by strangling and that could be a reason why he has scars around neck.
one more theory I have is… the pregnant lady… i guess she is going to give birth in no man’s land between the two worlds and that baby is the boy living near the book store. Or is it Sin-Je?
One more possibility is…. Jo Young getting killed in the final fight and Sin-Je becoming the unbreakable sword, thus returning to where he was from.
If Jo young is not killed, Eun-seob will be killed. (God… I can’t accept it). And Jo Young pretending to be Eun-Seob for family sake. And Sin-Je becoming the UB Sword.
I wonder why Lee Gon fired the two bullets left in the pistol and threw away? Is that bcz he wanted to protect TE? I just wanna be clarified. Thanks
Some appreciations: Nam since she saw the book that the King brought from Republican Korea, she is very intrigued and that’s why she reads it because she has met someone, the name of the author of the book and that is why I read it with so much enthusiasm and also that’s why he asks the police girl what happened to the war …….
Does anyone remember the name of the author of the book Nam is reading?
I think it’s from a collection of poems by Kim So Wol
I believe it is a book of poetry by Kim Sowol. The beginning of his poem “Evocation” is read aloud at the end of Episode 3. It is from the collection “Azaleas” and the rest seem to be from there as well. Noh Ok-Nam reads part of his poem “My House” in episode 10 and then “By the Steam” in Episode 12. Kim Sowol lost his true love tragically – I think many of the poems refer to her. The full poems are very lovely.
“Evocation”
By Kim Sowol
O shattered name
O name parted from me in mid-air
O name without an owner
O name I’ll call until I die
The words left in my heart,
In the end, I wasn’t able to utter all.
O you whom I loved
O you whom I loved
The red sun is hanging from the western summit.
The herd of deer also cry sadly.
Atop the mountain that’s sitting, fallen off to the side,
I call your name.
I call your name till I can’t bear the grief of it.
I call your name till I can’t bear the grief of it.
The sound of my call sweeps forward but
sky and earth are too far apart.
Though I turn to stone standing here
O name I’ll call until I die
O you whom I loved
O you whom I loved
“My House”
By Kim Sowol
at the base of a distant hill, at the edge of a field, hard by the shore of the broad sea—
i’ll build it, my own house, and put a wide road in front—
those who go by, some might stop in, then go on alone—
the day will turn dark at the rise of the white rapids—
i’ll stand at the gate and i’ll wait, and shadows will grow lighter—
dawn birds will cry, and the day will turn bright and still—
the morning will come sparkling, and i’ll look at each one who passes, and wonder—
might it be you? might it be?
“By the Stream”
by Kim Sowol
What happened, what’s wrong?
You’re sitting alone by the stream
The green grass is sprouting up
And the water splashes with the spring wind
I’m sure there was a promise
That even if you go, you won’t be gone forever
But every day you come to the stream
What are you thinking about?
Even if you go, you won’t be gone forever
Is that asking me not to forget you?
I’m sure there was a promise
He lost his love? Oh no—this does not bode well for our couple.
Will 4 more episodes cover the story? I’m not sure. Will this series be like arthdal chronicels?
A lot of questions.
I hope we will have a happy ending, but it seems a tragic love story.
Lee Rim has many umbrellas. Does it manpasijoek? May be he always bring it on his coat pocket.
On the preview. How does Tae Ul calling Luna? Are they in Korea?

Oh no! Don’t scare me! I don’t want the Asdal Chronicles disaster repeating in The King. I loved watching Asdal Chronicles, but the climax. Uffff.. Don’t want to think about it. Hope The King will have proper conclusion. They can have a knot open for next season, but conclusion of the current season should be convincing.
A broken tail like Arthdal Chronicles? Please don’t! The fact that worries me is the King is on Netflix and they do impose some influence on extending a series when it gain popularity. However, most Korean dramas are so addictive because of their tight story line and pace. Forcing something that’s meant to be one season often a bad idea. The last thing I want to see is Kdrama becoming more US drama series lookalike. I basically stay away from US TV series these days.
I had a quick thought about next time when the time freezes…. Gon could have quickly whipped out his phone (Samsung? :)) and started taking photos of all the stillness! Droplets of water flying half way in the air, smiling but not moving Tae-Eul like a statue, and oh… he can record it as video too… for the whole duration of thousands of minutes it’s frozen for. It’ll be a good evidence to share with Yeong and Tar-Eul!

If the electronics still work then he can definitely do that!
I watched the scene when The King came back to see Tae-eul and gave her the flowers but I didn’t realize he actually traveled back in time. Therefore, the “present” King had no idea when Tae-eul asked about that jacket on the hanger.
As more is revealed, we get to understand what the rules are traveling between the two world and about time traveling back in time. What puzzled me is – how common is the traveling between the two world? While the King only discovered this recently, others have been going across for the past many, many years. If one can feel the time freeze after he/she goes across, wouldn’t the Prime Minister and others would feel the time freeze as well?
Maybe only whoever possesses manpasikjeok can feel the time freeze. The ones who are transported don’t?

That is a good idea!
That’s good theory.
