Okay, For everyone who is still around! Here is a big spoiler for the ending that someone posted on DC Inside. This has not been verified, it is just some sleuthing that a person has done (a person who most likely really likes Lee Min-ho).

So the person noticed that the mystery man who shot all the men at the palace and saved the little prince, just so happened to have ………. the exact same ear as the King! So dun dun duuun it seems like the prince saved his own life. Yes, mind exploded. Time travel makes everything so confusing.

So, what do you think? Does anyone think this could be a viable theory as to what we might expect from the ending? All theories are welcome here!

    Wow..daebak!!!
    Its most likely possible..
Until now we have only seen Lee Gon travelling through time.
HE IS AN ETERNAL MONARCH AFTER ALL.
He must have deliberately dropped Tae Eul’s ID so that he will go searching for her in future and the time loop will continue…

That must be his future self. Maybe he was trying to fix the time loop but it got messed up again.

Interesting twist. Kind of like Harry Potter in the Prisoner of Azkaban. I am still trying to figure out the scene in which he is watching videos of her and comes to one dated 2022 in which the magical boy looks at him and then and the repeat changes what “she was wearing that day”…not to mention that in 2020 he is remembering the future. Now too, the romantic flower scene. Do they really not remember it?

        Corrections:
…looks at him then the video repeats and he notices that “she wasn’t wearing” outfit on that day.

Methinks, they do. But they are both moving in different times. Not quite sequential/linear as the story has to be told (for it to make sense) . Tae Eul has come into possession of the other half of the flute and when Lee Gon rights the wrong on the night of the coup – she loses her memories of who she is and is stuck – that’s when the deity boy comes to her aid. My 2 cents worth anyway – 😉

The episode 16 preview (on YouTube) shows the LeeGon doppelgänger walking in uniform passing TaeEul. She looks at him as if recognizing him. The preview also shows a wounded Yeong. I have a sad feeling he may die. 😔

It will be interesting to find out! Now that I look at him, he does look like Lee Gon.

I tend to agree. After I saw that early episode, I was struck by the general similar height & build to Lee Gon. Also the man’s profile, despite it being an instant’s glimpse, bore a marked resemblance. The other male characters are all shorter.

Additionally, in the beginning of the first episode wherein the half brother, Lee Rim, is being interrogated by Lt. Jung Tae-ul, it introduced the ensuing episodes as ‘flashbacks’.

Yes. You can see his eyes. It’s Lee min ho who saved himself. It’s just like harry Potter!!!

Ohh! he saved himself! makes sense!
In the church scene, he cried because he knew time is running out and if they won’t stop crossing both worlds, time will eventually stop for them permanently. Fast forward, he’ll close the portal but will get hold of the other piece of the flute. He then travels through time to be with Tae Eul.

Wait, anyone noticed that there can be 2 people who saved the young Lee Gon? One man wearing leather/black shoes and the other one wearing a converse chuck taylor? I’m not sure though it can probably be the shadows but I was thinking the other person might be Shin Jae. We all know Lee Gon is not good with shooting! My mind feels like exploding !

I feel like there were two people too! But I would need to rewatch the first episode to know for sure.

      • May 26, 2020 / 10:54 am

Agreed that there are others involved!!

I am convinced that ShinJae has some role to play in the big Finale/ Open. They have spent too much time on his back story & really the only one they spent ANY TIME on other then our leads

I was thinking there were more than one people who saved young lee gon too. If you watch the scene, there was a big smash of the mirror (?) on top of lee im and lee gon first, meaning someone must have been on the top to do shift the traitors attention.

So. Apart from Guardian/Goblin, this may be my favourite k-drama of this genre. It’s an E=MC2 legendary romance with a touch of Taming of the Shrew. ❤️

So I don’t know how to begin a new thread unrelated to this theory. Last night I fell asleep wondering how others move between the parallel universe? I thought it was the flute that enabled both the King and the Prince to do so. But apparently this is not the case. Any thoughts? I rewatched all 12 episodes (fast forwarding sometimes) to find a clue. Also, I was wondering if maybe Luna turns out to be a ‘good guy’ in the end based on her relationship with the magical boy?
