Another script reading is out with a show that I know I am all on board toward and will most likely need an IV drip lined up when it airs. Though don’t get too attached to the name because it is a literal translation and we all know how much Dramaland names change and then change back and then change again only to change back later. Right now it is called Love’s Emergency Landing which has Hallmark movie turned tv show written all over it. Come to mama.
Honestly, all we really need to know is that we have two actors of the same age and of the same status starring in a romantic comedy together at the height of their careers. I mean, did my wish get granted? Because that dandelion seed must have floated right up to a drama gods garden and flourished.
In Love’s Emergency Landing, Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin star in a ridiculous set up that I actually cannot tell if it is a romantic comedy or an espionage thriller with a romantic comedy title. Though, honestly, that title has got to go, no matter the genre. For one, as mentioned, it screams Hallmark movie (though I do love those), and for two, it is a bit too on the nose with the plot which is of a very wealthy South Korean heiress (Son Ye-jin) who makes a surprise paragliding emergency landing in North Korea (yes, really) and has to be hidden by North Korean officer (Hyun Bin) who, of course, falls head over heals in love with her.
Yes, the concept is just – what? But the writer, Park Ji-Eun, is AMAZING. We are talking the same writer that gave us (count with me) My Love From Another Star, Legend of the Blue Sea, Queen of Housewives, The Producers, and My Husbands Got a Family. She is no novice to strange plots, y’all! So, I feel like we should be in excellent hands because, though I don’t know what goes on in that beautiful mind of hers, all I know is that the dramas that comes out are shining and brilliant. Throw two legitimate super stars in the mix and it is a love line straight to me heart. Though, no pressure, show.
Love’s Emergency Landing will air on tvN sometime this fall. It will air on Saturdays & Sundays at 21:00 KST.
