REVIEW: Crash Landing on You episode 6 – and episode 7 Preview

In episode 6 of Crash Landing on You we are introduced to this official government hotel used for all photographs of any official document you need. Not only do they take your photo, they also have a place to rest your head and have about 5 or 6 wiretapping bugs around the room to keep you company as well.

After taking Seri’s photo, Jung-hyeok secretary gets an extra one to keep for himself. While doing that, Seri runs into SJ and is pulled into an elevator with him. Jung-hyeok follows and immediately removes SJ’s hand from Seri and puts him in an arm lock. SJ has to say that he knows Seri! Seriously! So Jung-hyeok checks his ID and let’s go.

Seri tells Sj that Jung-yeok is her bodyguard. JH is so annoyed by that. So, SJ tells Seri that they should meet for drinks later on that night, she agrees.

After parting, Jung-hyeok explained that he is not her bodyguard (while simultaneously saving her from a luggage roll, a crowd of people, and a ball) they go up to Seri’s hotel room where Jung-hyeok removes all the wiretapping bugs and tells her to rest.

But Seo Dan gets word that they are at the hotel and pulls family strings to find out his room in order to drop by. She catches Jung-hyeok in Seri’s room red handed.

They try to explain that it is not what it looks like, he actually has his own room. Seo Dan does not want to hear it and tells Jung-hyeok that they are meeting their parents at this hotel this evening for coffee to discuss their marriage.

That evening, seri meets with SJ and Jung-hyeok meets with Seo Dan, his parents, and her Aunt and Uncle. they set the marriage date for the last week of the the coming month.

After that, Jung-hyeok follows Seri and SJ as they walk outside. In a previous scene we find out that SJ has been found out by Seri’s 2nd brother. The deal for him to come back to Korea and not die is for him to prove that his sister is alive and then keep her in North Korea forever.

So they go for a walk so that the brother can listen to Seri talking over the phone in order to confirm that it is her. He is also sent a photo of her. Jung-hyeok grows worried about this walk, especially when he does not see her briefly, and frantically runs after her. he finds her in the park with SJ.

After they separate, Jung-hyeok takes Seri to have North Korean beer & chicken in a local place on the river. While there, it starts to snow so she tells him the story of how your love comes true on a first snow. She also tells him that she is actually very happy in North Korea and drunkenly falls asleep on his shoulder. He thinks about pushing her head off of him, but actually rather likes it so he leaves it there.

They end up going back to the Village in order to have another final goodbye to the soldiers, the village ladies, and to North Korea. The soldiers throw her a lovely beach picnic where they cook her crab, tell her a poem, and she sings a song, then the next day she is off.

She ends up driving to the airport with Guang-bum instead of Jung-hyeok because Jung-hyeok wants to protect her from outside. he does not tell this to Seri.

While driving there, the monster truck of doom tries to take them out. But there is a twist – another truck of doom shows up! Jung-hyeok is on a motorcycle and came prepared with lots of guns to blast at the monster truck like he is a gangster in a Quentin Tarantino movie.

He takes them all out, but gets shot at the very end and passes out in Seri’s arms.

In a related side story, we see that SJ ended up telling Lieutenant Jo that they need Seri to stay at his mansion as well in order to fulfill his obligation to the 2nd brother to keep Seri in North Korea. Jo was surprised that SJ knew this lady that stayed in the army village. Man-bok also found out that they would be leaving in the morning for the airport. So that is how the truck(s) of doom knew that Seri was on the way to the airport.

And that is the end of episode 6! This show is definitely wacky, though it is wacky with a purpose and a structure that makes it easy to digest and enjoy. I also love our two main stars in these roles and that it sticks to the 60 minute timeline for every single episode. Thank you!

EPISODE 7 PREVIEW

English Translation

SR – Ri Jung-hyeok!

Man – I think he is the one that was in the gun fight exchange

GB – Let’s go to the airport first, then we can take care of him

SR – But, what if he dies!

CG – He did not come back to the base, that means he is injured.

SJ – Did something really happen?

SD – She is not an 11th department spy. She just got into North Korea?

SJ – Your men will be hurt also.

SD – I do not care if he is injured or dies.

SJ – People feel soleda, when they do not know the end.
