Our couple has finally spent a good amount of time together! Not as much as I wanted them to, but at least there were some revelations that brought the love story forward.
So, in episode 12 of Chocolate, our couple headed out to the island for Kang’s hometown friends funeral. This is the friend who was kind of a pseudo father and could have possibly been his father because he loved Kang’s mother. But the mother moved with Kang to the city so that was that.
Cha-young dropped him off at the funeral and left to take a bus, but she realized that she accidentally kept Kang’s car keys and left her cell phone and purse back on the mainland. So she is stranded without a pot to pee in as they say.
So, she calls her cell phone, which her brother picks up fortuitously, and tells him to call Kang to let him know that she is stranded on the island without any money or a cell phone and is waiting for him at a local park. She gives the park name and then goes about waiting.
Kang goes to the burial ground to lay his friend to rest and then gets the message about Cha-young. The brother basically spills all the beans about Cha-young not being able to smell or taste in addition to being stranded and waiting for him at the park.
So Kang goes to the park and sees Cha-young sleeping while sitting up at a bench. He goes to possible wake her up, but then he sees how absolutely out she is and ends up letting her sleep. Though it is a bit awkward because she basically crashes into his chest while he is kneeling in front of her, so, yeah, uncomfortable for him, but nice.
They stay that way for hours until she wakes up as the sun is setting, completely embarrassed that she was sleeping on his chest. He shakes it off and tells her that they should eat before heading back.
he ends up buying a lot of sea life from the fish market and heads to his mothers old restaurant to cook it. The restaurant is still in very good shape because the fisherman took it over after they left. So Kang goes inside and starts to cook. Cha-young watches him from just outside.
When he is done, he lays out the lovely spread for Cha-young to eat and tells her that he knows that she can’t eat or smell so he wanted her to eat comfortably here instead of at a restaurant. She is overcome with emotion and tells him that the food is very good.
But the phrase she uses is the exact same phrase that she used when they were kids. So this clues Kang in that she is the kid from his childhood. He asks her if she ever has been to the island which she says yes and then he asks her if she ever ate there before and she says yes and then he asks her if she knows him and she says yes one last time.
His eyes grow so wide they may as well pop out of his head.
In a side story, Joon has finally realized that his family has been childishly squabbling over power for all these years to the point where his mother tried to kill his grandmother and forced his grandmother to give all control of the company over to her.
They also kind of clean up that side story of Seon-ae leaving the girl at her scary grandfathers restaurant on accident. But, not really. I kind of think the advice she gave was pretty horrible. She should have just told her, listen, you have two people that love you a lot. Give them all your love and I will give the invitation to your grandfather. Or something like that.
I don’t know, I don’t like any of he side stories. Oh, another side story is that Michael finally got the proper Kimchi chigae made by his mother. She forgot to use an expensive mushroom that she had to dig out of a mountain. So she found one and brought it back to make the kimchi chigae for him.
Honestly, I would probably be more accepting of the side stories if the main love story was on and popping. But the main love story is barely getting there, so every time they cut away for a side story it makes my eyes roll.

A disaster!!! I had so many expectations with this drama and it is boring me, it also has something that makes me come back every week to watch the next chapter. Will they ever give us romance ?????
