Park Min-young and Seo Kang-joon are confirmed for Kdrama I’ll Go to You if the Weather is Nice

Park Min Young and Seo Kang Joon cast in drama I'll GO to you if the weather is nice.
Casting confirmed for Park Min-young and Seo Kang-joon in JTBC drama I’ll Go To You If The Weather Is Nice (long title alert!)

Now this is a drama that I can get behind. Park Min-young and Seo Kang-joon have been confirmed for the JTBC drama I’ll Go to you if the Weather is Nice (also known as If the Weather is Nice, I’ll Find You) based on a novel by Lee Do-woo. I’m not sure if this is a romantic comedy or melo, but Park Min-young is in it so I’m going with romantic comedy for now. Plus, the title is kind of funny. Um, you will go to me if the weather is nice??? Can I buy you an umbrella or something to change your mind? A raincoat?

I love me a novel based drama because you know there will be a backbone to the story. It provides a nice way for the screenwriter to add funny situational elements without having to worry about hitting key plot points. Of course, there is also that added element of not living up to the novels expectations, but for international viewers, that doesn’t really matter.

In I’ll Go to you if the Weather is Nice, Park Min-young will play a cellist who moves back to her small sea side hometown after getting tired of city life. Seo Kang-joon owns a bookstore in this small town. Um, you had me at bookstore, because who doesn’t love a well read man? Plus, Park Seo-joon naturally has the look of a man who pensively stares at literature (or out windows, or at the rain, or at the sea, he is just good at staring, y’all).

Seo Kang-joon is coming off Watcher, which was a highly acclaimed thriller, so it is prime time to switch things up a bit and sink into a much different role. But what I want to know about is, whatever happened to that college age friends to lovers drama? Because I think he might be aging out of that one. He looked so mature in Watcher!

Park Min-young is the new queen of romantic comedies right now. Her last two dramas (What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim and Her Private Life) were both fun steamy romps that I enjoyed sinking into. One caveat is that both dramas were very similar in storyline, so hopefully this one ventures away from the lost-memories-of-childhood-best-friend-that-I-never-new-about-and-fell-in-love-with-as-an-adult-because-fate storyline that the other two had.

I’ll Go To You if The Weather is Nice is set to air in the first half of 2020 on JTBC.
