MORNING

Sol-ah works on her webtoon and turns to the cat Hong-zo and tells him to talk to her. Let’s go eat something and go for a walk together. But he does not turn into a human. So she tries to mesmerize him and tells human Hong-zo to come out, but he does not.

There is a ding on the door, Doo-sik, Ji-eun, and Jae-sun are there with lots of things to eat in bags. They think she looks too pale because she is always inside. We have to come all the way here to see your face.

They ask where Hong-zo is? Sh says in the room. He comes out but is a cat so she tells them that he is mostly a cat now.

They all settle in to a meal at home. Hong-zo watches them. Doo-sik thinks it is so strange. Ji-eun thanks him and says that it was all because of Hong-zo that I could confess. He was in the box so he must have put the eraser in my bag. You did it right?

The friends then start to talk about her webtoon and how it will end. She says she does not know how it will end. Jae-sun tells her that if she goes back to the beginning then she might think of an answer. She might know what it means to her to meet the cat.

LATER ON

Sol-ah sleeps after crumpling up lots of pages of paper. Hong-zo wakes her up as a human. She asks, is it really you? He tells her that she should go with him, hurry, we do not have much time.

So they go to the river park. He wraps her scarf around her and says that he was warm because of her. She tells him not to thin back. You do that when we are really done.

He says this was the first place that he thought he should be with her. She asks why he is thinking about that? Lets talk about what we should do tomorrow. She starts listing some things to do.

He tells her that this will be his last day to be human, I can feel it. I am barely surviving. She tells him no, lets drink coffee.

She hopes up to get one, but he stops her and shakes his head. He tells her that his time to stay as human is limited and I have used it all. She reminds him that he said he would be human in front of her! She hugs him and kisses him. Then she asks, is this also not enough?

He lightly touches her cheek and thanks her for making him human. She asks, is this really the end? Already? YOU said you would leave first, but you didn’t say it would be this sudden.

He says he did not know, if he knew it would end like this then he would have held on to her the first time he saw her.

She says all her regrets about how she should have spent more time with him. Hong-zo is about to pass out. He tells her that time is up. She tells him not to go, you said you would be with me. He says he is not going anywhere, I just won’t be human. I will be with you as a cat.

She asks, you are leaving like this but you are not leaving? I can’t touch you or hear your voice. He apologizes and says he won’t be able to hug her anymore. She asks, if you don’t become human anymore, then you will not be sick? he nods and apologizes for not being human.

She says it is okay, he does not have to be human, just don’t be sick. Just be with me. They touch each others cheek. He says he will wait for her. Waiting for her is a cats job. She tells him, they can go to the ocean tomorrow and they can draw on the rooftop he says okay.

He kisses her again.

2 YEARS LATER

Sol-ah runs around her house. She gives Hong-zo water and frantically looks for something else as she usually does. her hair is a lot loner. She happily waves at Hong-zo and says she has everything, I am fine! Don’t worry! Goodbye!

She heads out and sees Jae-sun. He asks if today is the day? You should be nervous. She says yes! Then she hurries off.

But we cut to Ji-eun who might have a presentation today. She is practicing for it. Doo-sik comes over to stand and look at her. He starts yawning. She asks if he did not sleep because he is nervous. He says he slept well. He just does not want her to be nervous. I heard that with cats, if the owner yawns then they calm down.

She asks, isn’t that dogs? He tells her cat or dog, whichever. He asks if she becomes an animal when she sleeps? You were so cute when you slept. She smiles.

Ji-eun gives her presentation, she does a good job. It also looks like the company has grown a bit. She gets a little flustered for a moment so he yawns for her which makes her happy. the boss says that she is not bad.

BOOK SIGNING

Sol-ah’s big meeting was a signing day for her book that is just published. A lot of people have shown up to have it signed. All her work people show up as well, even the VP. 

The VP asys her kid likes her webtoon so she has to have her signature, it is perfect for primary school kids. They all joke that she is the same. Then they take a photo together.

Afterwards, Jae-sun and Sol-ah talk in the bookstore after her signing. He says he came late on purpose. Let’s get something to eat. She says hse can’t, you know that Hong-zo is waiting for me. he tells her that she does not give good fan service. He also produces flowers for her and says that Hong-zo is not the only one waiting for her. So pick on or the other, flowers or eating?

She takes the flowers and they walk off. She says that Hong-zo looks relaxed now, so maybe staying as a cat makes him happy. Jae-sun asks, what about you? She says yes, I am happy with him as a cat. Hong-zo can hug me without hands.

Cut to her hanging out with Hong-zo at home. He is on his own pillow next to her as she works. She pets him and asks if he likes her newest drawing. Then they sit on the rooftop together.

VO – As you waited for me, I wait for you.

On another day, she gets ready to head out and pets Hong-zo. She tells him that she will be back, then heads out. She goes outside, then counts to three and sneaks back inside. Hong-zo is gone so she looks around for him.

Then she sees him walking around as a cat.

VO – Just in case you turned back, I checked it every day.

She goes out to the river to draw.

VO – I want to see you again, at least once.

Then a person walks up to her, it is Jae-sun. he sits on the bench with her quietly. they look at each other for a long moment. Then he asks if she still waits for him? She doesn’t answer.

She walks home.

VO – Time passes. I am okay if you are a super old man. I will recognize out right away.

She gets home and goes to her bedroom. Hong-zo is there. She puts her shall up and walks back out.

But then magic happens on her drawing book? Its pages turn on their own.

Suddenly Hong-zo appears with her scarf wrapped around him. He is a young man again, not old at all after two years.  

She slowly walks to him and smiles.

Sol-ah – Welcome.

He smiles. Then the camera shows her drawing of them together.

We end with people talking about their cats.

COMMENTS

Wow, this show really just ended like that? I mean, okay???? I feel so bad for the webtoon because I heard they messed it all up.

It kind of makes me feel like I wasted my time watching this drama. But on the other hand it never made any sense to begin with and had a ton of inconsistencies throughout plus I really did not have any expectations that it would be good, there’s that. 

But that was seriously a really just wtf ending where they just made it work out because they didn’t know how to make it work out? So alrighty then, see you on the next drama?

This was an easy show to recap, but when they started to veer too far away from the webtoon it became all together bad so definitely not a recommend. Worth a watch if you like the actors though.
