Love Alarm 2: Hye-young vs. Sun-oh (POLL + Discussion)

In 2020, Start-Up triggered one of the biggest fan debates I’ve seen in a while. It lit the internet on fire, and everyone was talking about whether Dal-mi (the female lead) should end up with Do-san (the first male lead) or Ji-pyeong (the second male lead). The debates have since died down, but even until this day the poll we did on it remains one of our most popular.

Now, season 2 of Love Alarm has stirred up the same passion in 2021. It dropped on Netflix a few days ago, and people have already binged all six episodes. Everyone’s pretty shocked about who Jojo (the female lead) ended up with, and there are a ton of spirited debates happening on social media. If you haven’t watched it and don’t want spoilers, avoid the comments. If you have, who do you think Jojo should’ve ended up with? Vote below, then tell us why in the comments. (Please stay civil)

I’m going to leave this poll open for two weeks to give everyone a chance to binge the drama and vote. It’ll close on Monday, March 29th, 2021 at 11:59 PM American Eastern Standard Time.

Happy voting!

For once the kinder gentler second lead got his due. I loved Hye Young in the first season and felt that Sun Oh went into it knowing his friend had feelings for JoJo. He asked, over and over, but he knew the answer didn’t match his friend’s true feelings. Interestingly JoJo said “Before you showed up Hye Young was all I could think about”. Sun Oh was the interloper. That knocks the fate argument out. Secondly JoJo needed a person – just one – who had the patience to see that her silence spoke volumes about her abiding sorrows. Sun Oh was caught up in his own drama where he was the selfish center of the universe and could only see his issues. JoJo needed no more drama in her life.

I enjoyed this so much better in the second half because the relationship was more about who fit. Imagine JoJo dealing with Sun Oh’s parents, the aggressive father and the passive aggressive mother. Nightmare. OTOH, Hye Young’s mother would be good to JoJo because she is gentle too. A happily ever after is possible.

And finally – I love the theme of over-dependance on technology in personal relationships. It got in JoJo’s way. The developer admits his limits – but the money man just wanted more power. Sounds all too familiar these days.

A good drama with a good ending. Everyone who watched Start Up disappointed in who won the girl will get their meaningful relationship with this one.

I really liked how you broke that down. Personally, I’m always biased toward the nice guy, so I agree 😉

    Exaclty! This!
After season 1, I definitley leaned more towards Hye Young. I just found that Sun Oh had quite a tantrum at some episodes, even until season 2. And even though JoJo had a lot of poor choices and it was a little annoying for her to not be honest at some parts, at least the last episode gave a good closure for everyone.
As for Sun Oh’s ending it was so-so, because it’s like they even rushed it for him at the end with Yuk Jo.
Anyway, that’s just my opinion. It just seems like a lot of fans are too biased based on looks smh
