If you are watching When the Camellia Blooms and want to visit the location where the Camellia bar is, then you need to visit the historic district of Guryongpo which is a town in Pohang (which is in the North Gyeongsang province). It is located on a historic street called the Guryongpo Modern Culture and History Street.
In 1923, during the time of Japanese occupation, Japan built the Guryongpo port which turned Guryongpo into the largest fishery base in the East Sea region. Japanese fishermen started to flock to Guryongpo which turned Guryongpo into a tiny Japan. There were a lot of restaurants, stores, hospitals, Inns, and residences there, which still fill the streets of the historic district.
After Japanese occupation ended, several of the Japanese buildings where demolished or fell into disrepair which sparked a preservation effort so occupational history would not be forgotten. So in 2011 an entire street in the area was preserved by the Korean government and turned into Guryongpo Modern Culture and History Street. This is the street that the Camellia Bar sits on as well as the street where the market ajummas work.
So, this street that we see in When the Camellia Blooms carries a lot of history with it, goodness! Of course, it looks different in the drama as they remove a lot of the tourist signs while filming in order to help us better sink into the world of Camellia, which does feel, to me, like it own little quiet place in Korea.

While watching the show I was dreaming of seeing the town someday, but I didn’t know where it was. Thank you for this wonderful guide!

You are very welcome, Cindy!
Hello, I’m a fan of this drama. I’d like to share this page in Camellia Blooms Soompi thread forum. Is it okay?

Hi, M! Yes, please feel free! I am also over in Soompi sometimes as V. I love Soompi ☺️.
Thank you V. Already shared and linked to this page.
Also, the games arcade seen in Episode 2 (3&4) where Pil-gu and Yong-shik went is Shinheung Market near Itaewon. Just started watching this so now I realise that I actually went there in October

Thank you for the tip, Thekors!
I live in Pohang so when I was watching this drama I felt that most of the places were familiar. I’ve been to the Guryongpo Modern Culture and History Street many times before and I believe that when I go back there and visit again it will be completely different feeling after I watched the drama. 🙂
