KOREAN DRAMA ITAEWON CLASS RECAP 14 – PART 2

DANBAM COMPANY

At the company, Yi-seo is laying on the couch. SK and Hyun-yi tell SRY that she has a fever. But Yi-seo says that she is okay, today is the board meeting. This fever is okay. SRY asks if she is really okay.

She stands up and looks perfectly fine so he says okay and they all walk out together.

But as they walk in the lobby, Yi-seo passes out. SK angrily says that he knew she was pushing herself too hard. SRY cradles Yi-seo in his arms. Hyun-yi tells someone to call 911.

Ho-joon and Min-jung are on their way to the meeting. SRY tells them that Yi-seo passed out, they are on their way to the hospital. Min-jung is alarmed and asks what they should do. Ho-joon tells her that Yi-seo does not have to be there, but SRY is a big share holder so he should be there.

It is one hour before the board meeting. Dae-hee sis getting intravenous fluids in his office to prepare. Then he tells them, let’s go. He sees Min-jung in the meeting. She tells him it is n ice to see him again. He looks at her closely and says that she is part of it. You were never a quiet girl.

She tells him that she heard that he was sick. he says that is a good card, but you did not use it. She reminds him that the most important thing is JangGa. He does not doubt that she believes that, but tells her that she always makes the wrong choices. Know when to use your cards.

Geun-soo asks where Royi hyung is? SRY runs up right then. So Geun-soo asks if she is not with him? he says not today. Geun-soo then tells Min-jung that the executive was right, she always makes wrong choices. He bows and leaves.

Min-jung asks if Yi-seo is okay.

Cut to Yi-seo in her hospital room (what? She isn’t in a VIP room?). Hyun-yi and Sk are there with her.

BOARD MEETING

Saeroyi sits in the board meeting, but his mind is on Yi-seo. 

In the hospital room, Sk and Hyun-yi talk about what might happen. They think that she worked so hard so she should win. SK says that he just wants it to happen a little slower.

Yi-seo wakes up and quickly asks what happened in the board meeting.

Cut back to the board meeting. Yi-seo is not the new executive. Dae-hee smiles and walks to Saeroyi. he tells him that he told him that he could not wait too long. Then he smiles as much as he can smile and walks off.

Min-jung tells Ho-joon and SRY that they need to comfort their share holders today. Cheer up Saeroyi.

SRY tells them that he needs to go to the hospital. Min-jung tells him to go, don’t worry.

HOSPITAL

SRY hurries all the way to the hospital. he finds out that she is fine, she was just overworked. She asks what happened. Het ells her that it did not work out and sits on her bed to ask if she is really okay.

Yi-seo thinks that Geun-soo is behind this. I heard that he went overseas, maybe he convinced the share holders to vote with them. Don’t worry, I have a plan B. SRY asks what she is doing right now? She says that a lot of people complained even though they did not openly say anything. If I complain about it…

But SRy tells her to stop and rest. She asks how she can rest. He tells her, if you move then you are fired. Then he turns to SK and Hyun-yi and tells them to watch Yi-seo. If she does anything then I will fire her. He looks at Yi-seo againn and tells her, please rest, I beg you.

He leaves. SK follows him out. SRY asks why he is following him. You should watch Yi-seo.

SK tells him that he wants to look around stores. So they walk together. SK asks him why he is so depressed. Is it about the board meeting or is it about Yi-seo? We can try next time with that and you should follow your heart with Yi-seo.

SRY asks him what he wants to say? SK asks him if he is confused? SRY starts to talk about their age difference. But then he remembers Yi-seo telling him that work and age difference is a cowardly excuse. 

SK also tells SRY that age is an excuse. Do you think people will call you a robber? SRY asks why he is telling him so much. SK tells him it is just that he does not seem like himself recently. Work hard. He pats him on the shoulder and heads out.

A black van drives up.

SRY keeps walking up the street and sees the necklace that Yi-seo liked, in the window of a store.

HOSPITAL

SRY goes back to the hospital and overhears a conversation with Hyun-yi and Yi-seo. They are talking about SRY. Yi-seo says that he will not fire her. There is timing with this. Just let me work. But Hyun-yi says that she will not. I don’t want to get fired. I am on your side. We can take care of China and stores. Don’t you trust us?

Yi-seo says she does. So Hyun-yi asks why she works so hard? Yi-seo tells her that she told their CEo that she loves him. Hyun-yi says that is not surprising. Yi-seo says, I told him to fire me. HY tells her that the company will not function without her.

YS – I can tell him how much I love him because I work well and because he needs me. Whatever I say, he should still keep me around. I have to be someone he needs.

SRY rets his head agains the wall.

HY – You fool, Royi Oppa won’t fire you if you don’t work well. We worked many years together. 

YS – I know. I am just justifying myself. That I have to have a right to tell him that I love him.

Saeroyi looks at his gift for Yi-seo and sighs.

JANGGA COMPANY

Geun-soo tells Soo-ah to handle market street because she is the only one he can trust. She says that her boss asked her to do it so she will do it. But then she tells him that the company is a bit turbulent.

Geun-soo tells her that they are going to vote on the new heir soon. He also tells her that the chairman has a terminal diagnosis.

Soo-ah goes to see the chairman in his office. He tells her that he was going to break the news to her, why did Geun-soo say that useless thing. You worked for me the longest after secretary Kim. But how you think is different. I know very well what you thought of me. You hated me because of the thing with General manager Park. You hated me but where afraid of me at the same time.

She says that is true.

He tells her that the person that she hates is dying. That is a good thing right? Why are you crying?

I don’t know. *tears*

You foolish child, I know how hard of a time I gave you. Do you know that you are so smart but do you know why you couldn’t win over me, the person you hate?

I don’t know. *more tears*

It is because you have a slave mentality. You were trained to work as I wish. Everyone around me, I made them all like that. All those people were easy to use. I looked down in them. My last emotion in remembering you shouldn’t be despising you.

Why are you saying that to me? *tears*

I don’t know. *coughs* Well, I am dying. I am becoming strange.

DARK CORRIDOR

Geun-soo walks up a dar hallway. He meets with a gangster who leads him into the office of Gangster Hee-hoon. He tells Hee-hoon that he wants to process what they talk about before. Hee-hoon asks him when he wants him to start?

The next morning, Tony brings some work to Saeroyi since Yi-seo is sick. He tells him that he only got half of Yi-seo’s stuff because one of her drawers is locked and he does not know the password. SRY tells him that he knows the password, it is okay.

So he goes to Yi-seo’s office. SK is there resting on the couch. SRY goes to the drawer to put in the password. SK asks what it is, all the important documents are in there. The password is SRY’s birthday. SK is impressed with the depth of her one-sided love.

SRY asks SK about the proposal he is reading. It is about an ugly duckling bbq that will give away free side dishes if they bring someone they hate to Danbam. 

SK asks about the most thankful person is in their life. SRY starts to think about Yi-seo. She was the one who recorded Geun-won confessing his crime. he also remembers telling her not to like her. He remembers the scariest moment in his life was Yi-seo passing out and the luckiest thing in his life was when Yi-seo said that she wanted to work there and realize his dream. Sk asks about the person they love.

SRY sees the drawing Yi-seo made of him when she was in detention. He starts to think about comforting her through the years. Giving her hugs and letting her head rest on his shoulder. he also remembers the jealousy he felt when she walked in with Geun-soo to the lounge.

He thinks that all the important moments in his life had her in them. So he runs off and drives to see her. While driving there, he thinks about the conversation he overheard in the hospital.

Geun-soo pulls into the hospital and runs inside to see Yi-seo. But the nurse says that she refused meeting anyone except family. But you can call her as her friend.

Saeroyi comes up from behind him, Geun-soo looks at him.

In the hospital room, Yi-seo opens a drawer and sees the Tiffany bag. Inside is the necklace that she liked. She smiles. There is also a note that says, get well quickly.

But then a nurse comes in and says that he will give he a shot. However, he looks like a bad guy.

SRY and Geun-soo go to talk. SRY is not made at him, he says that he did his job. GS says that he knew he would say that. The conversation changes to Yi-seo. SRY asks if he still likes her. GS tells him that he thought about her all the time for 4 years. She is the reason I quit Danbam and the reason I want to have JangGa and the reason I want to destroy IC. It is all about Yi-seo.

SRY says that he understands. She is worth putting your life on. Geun-soo asks, what? 

SRY – The woman my dongsang likes. Even though I won’t, I should give up. That is betraying and trash like.

GS – Hyung…

SRY stands up and says, I will do it. I will betray and act like trash.

GS – What are you…

SRY – You can yell at me and curse me. You can hit me.

GS – What are you talking about now!

SRY – I like Yi-seo. I won’t say sorry.

Geun-soo is distraught.

Saeroyi goes inside Yi-seo’s room but she is not there. He sees her cell phone. Someone texts him a photo of her. He rushes out.

Geun-soo comes running up yelling about Yi-seo and how he never saw her as a woman before, what changed now! SRY ignores him and starts to head to the address that he was texted.

He hops in his car and swerves through traffic. geun-soo chases after him in his car, all the while wondering what is going on.

WOODS

SRY gets to the woods and sees the gangsters. Geun-soo parks behind him and finally asks where Yi-seo is, why is she not in the hospital!

Geun-won gets out of the car and mutters, my poor father. The gangsters all look at SRY and Geun-soo.

GW – Two of the people that I hate the most came here together.

SRY – Where is Yi-seo?

GW – You will die now so what do you even care?

A cars lights turn on and drive to hit Geun-soo. SRY pushes him out of the way and gets hit by the car. He falls in slow motion down the hill. Geun-soo yells his name. Royi hyuuuuuuung!

VO – As my heart says, just like myself, the life where I have no regrets regardless of the result. I wanted to have that life. Did I do my best?

He lays all bloody in the grass and thinks about Yi-seo crying when he said he does not love her.

VO – I regret that day so much. 

He thinks about Yi-seo telling him that she loves him over and over again. His eyes close.

VO – I will miss her like crazy.

Fade Out

COMMENTS

Okay, this episode felt like it was straight out of the early 90s or ‘00s. I mean, kidnapped from your hospital room? That trope was put to rest over a dozen years ago. Are they bringing it back? Throw back is all the rage.

Let’s see how next week is because this episode was a bit of a womp womp. But I still am dedicated to these characters and want to see how this ends! See you next week!
