JANGGA

Soo-ah holds her resignation letter while sitting at her desk. Geun-soo asks her what happened, she hides the resignation letter. He asks if this is about the investments? Abogi is great as I get to know him more.

She asks, what about it? Geun-soo says that he put a lead investor and made the followers turn away.

Soo-ah asks, do you think that is great? Screwing up another person’s life? geun-soo sees the image of her and Saeroyi on her desk. He tells her that Saeroyi will do the same thing if he has the chance. He will not be swayed by outside emotions. I thought you were the same.

DANBAM

SRY tells his team that Danbam is closed for a little bit so they can focus on the TV show and finding an investor. Hyun-yi will work on the TV show and SK will support her. Yi-seo will help SRY with the investors. SK curses the investors. Yi-seo tells them it is all her fault but she knows that they are not giving up with this. Lets get over this together.

Later on, Yi-seo and SRY talk on the rooftop. He thanks her for everything. Then he asks her if she is better now? I just wonder if you are clear? She asks, what? Me liking you? Of course I still like you, very very much. I like you this much that I did not go to college. 

The reason I work here is all because of you. Even though i am not getting a return on it, it is okay. You told me the heart is not give and take. But I am still good. So dont’ tell me to stop liking you or whatever. My heart is mine, you don’t have any right to say it. Fire me if you don’t like my heart. I accept yours. Are you going to fire me?

He quickly says no. I can’t. Danbam without you….I can’t imagine it.

She tells him that he is selfish. He says, hey. 

She says she will be satisfied with this. They keep looking at the city.

MORNING

SRY is with Ho-joon working. YS calls and tells him to come to the store right away. YS is happy to see Min-jung in her car in front of the store. the rich halmae is in her backseat. they both walk inside. The halmae asks where SRY is. YS says that he will be here soon.

Jung-min asks how YS knows about the relationship between her and the halmae. YS says that Ho-joon told her about the halmoni investing in start ups. SRY comes in soon after. Min-jung introduces her. She has known her for a long time, she helped her when she was younger. SRy says that he knows this halmoni is a big hand in realestate.

They get right to business. The halmae says that she heard everything about what happened with the investor. the halmoni sys that it is strange that they know she is rich. And I owe you. You could have just mentioned it to me. Why is your boss so stubborn?

SRY doesn’t really know what to say. SRY says he did not want to have a deal with Tony’s family situaton. YS apologizes for SRY and says he is always like this. Min-jung does as well and says that SRy’s personality is not round, it’s angular.

The halmoni calls YS a bobcat and says that she had a hard time telling her. YS says that she just thought that she was a cute halmoni. SRY says that he does not need her investment. Min-jung kicks him. 

Halmoni asks if he already drank kimchi gulmul (like celebrating an event too early). She tells him that he has no money, no ability, only your pride. If you were confident, then that was it. No one will invest in this stupid place. I will lose money. She gets up and leaves. Min-jung looks at SRY and then says that she agrees with her.

You told me that you and your people will never have to suffer for no good reason. Your freedom without paying for your principle, that is just play words. freedom is not free. There is no freedom without paying the price. She leaves.

GEUN SOO

Geun-soo thinks long and hard as he overlooks the city. Then on another day, he tells Soo that the TV show is focusing on Hyun-yi instead of an old man. It is not a competition on taste, it is a competition on who is more popular. I want to use a card that I really don’t want to use. Soo-ah asks him what he is talking about?

After work, SRY waits for Soo-ah. But she ignores him and walks off. He stops her and asks if she is going home now? She says yes, why are you here in front of JangGa.

SRY – It is about the investing thing.

SA – Okay, I see

SRY – Did you avoid me?

SA – Of course

SRY – I am sorry about that day. You said it for me.

SA – See this guy, you really don’t know. You dumped me.

SRY – Me?

SA – Did you eat?

SRY – What? Um?

Cut to them eating. She asks why he looks like that, did something happen? He says that he does not remember the last time we ate barbecue together, I make them work so hard. they met a bad boss.She tells him that he should not say that. Your place is the only place they can work. Eat.

He says okay and asks what she was talking about earlier, I dumped you? She thinks back to what SRY said on the phone to Yi-seo. “I can stand on my feet again because I want to take my revenge, there is no rest of me until then”. 

Soo-ah tells him that he said his revenge is before being happy with her. I understand that, I cannot stop you, I know everything. He says he is trouble for everyone. She tells him, but….after taking your revenge, then, will you be happy?

he looks at her but he does not answer.

Time jump to him walking into his restaurant. SK and Hyun-yi sleep there. He thinks back to what the halmoni said about how he wants to maintain his pride as a CEO but all his people are in trouble. SK wakes up and says that they are sleeping there today because they have to go to the market with Yi-seo in the morning to look for investors.

SRY goes to the rooftop and calls Tony. Cut to Tony’s fabulous room where he is playing the guitar. SRY asks if he can see his grandmother tomorrow. Tony tells him that halmoni went to Jeju island. Her vacation home is there. Didn’t you hear that? Yi-seo knows. SRY asks what that is.

Cut to Yi-seo answering the phone. SRY called her. She says that she is meeting an investor. He asks where she is. So Yi-seo says Jeju island. SRY asks, to see Tony’s grandmother? Yi-seo says that she couldnt’ sit around and do nothing, I wanted to tell you, are you angry? He says no, I am not angry. When do you meet her. Did you already meet her?

Halmoni takes the phone and asks, why are you calling Jeju island this late? SRY is a bit flustered but asks, please invest in us! I will do my best so that you will not lose your money! She tsks and says that no one suggests investing over the phone call.

Yi-seo sidles up to her with a smile and says, that is why I am here halmoni. Halmoni sighs and tells her that investments are not only about Tony. I am a business woman, I know you. It is not only food and not only one store, you look after the entire street, I like that. I told you I am a business woman. I do not like wasting money, so we should match. How much do you think?

SRY – How much?

Halmoni – What is your goal?

SRY – to be #1 in Korea

Halmoni – Yes, we match! *smiles* I told you I do not like wasting money. To be #1 in the country, anyone can say that, you need to prove it with action. The cooking TV show, win it! If you win it then I will invest. Do you not like that?

SRY – Thank you so much!

Halmoni – Thank me after you win.

SRY – Yes! We will win!

Halmoni tells YS that she will go to bed. Then she tells YS that she is a bobcat that should eat breakfast in the morning, then leave. YS gives her a big hug and sits on the couch, then she tells SRY that this was a good choice, you should win tomorrow. Fighting. I will make halmoni happy and be back tomorrow.

SRY – Yi-seo….I am really sorry.

YS – You always say sorry.

SRY – I am sorry and thankful.

YS – Okay, I love you.

SRY – *stunned*

YS – Goodnight, dream about me.

Yiseo smiles as she hangs up and giggles to herself. SRY looks at the city landscape.

FINALS

SK and SRY drive Hyun-yi to the finals and wish her luck as she heads inside. SRY goes inside with Hyun-yi. he stops in front of  their TV logo. Hyun-yi asks what’s up. SRY says that they might get the investment, from Tony’s grandmother.

Hyun-yi tells him that he resisted a lot. Good choice. SRY tells her that she has a condition. Yo have to win the event. Hyun-yi is all like, whaaaaaa? SRY pats her on the shoulder and says that Danbam’s future is on you. 

She yells, why are you telling me this right before the event!!!! You should do this!!!!

he smiles warmly and tells her, fighting, Hyun-yi. Then he walks off. She is all like YAAAA!

Sk sits in the car and checks his phone. there is an article about Hyun-yi. His eyes grow wide.

As SRY and Hyun-yi walk into the staged area, they hear the judges talking about transgender operations. SK runs in and shows them the article. Then they hear more people talking about Hyun-yi being transgender. SK gets angry and hits something, they all look at him. Hyun-yi runs away.

In JangGa, Soo-ah shows Geum-soo the article and asks if this is the card he was talking about? He says yes, I spread this to the news media yesterday. My Hyun-yi is transgender. If fame affects the results then we can make her unlikable. 

Soo-ah asks, what about her? So you hate her? Geum-soo says she is only one of few noonas to him. But he says he will do it to win. She asks why he wants to win so much. He says that she told him this is JangGa’s way. Soo-ah asks, what about Danbam people? What happens to them? Geun-soo tells her that he is done playing the friendship thing.

At the finals, Hyun-yi runs into the bathroom to hide. The woman in there had heard and tell her that this place is for women. So she leaves. Ry finds her hiding somewhere in a quiet hallway in the building. He sits with her.

She apologizes and says that she didn’t run away. My limbs are losing strength. She says that she will get ready. I thought it could happen at anytime. We have to win this event so we will get the investment, I am okay, I can do it. SRY tells her it is okay. It is okay. A long time ago when we worked in the same factory, do you remember what I told you? You are the bravest person among all the people I know. Whatever people say, you are the bravest and prettiest woman.

She smiles at him and starts to tear up. He puts his arm around her shoulder ad tells her, when you calm down, would you like to go back to Danbam? She says that he does not have to worry about her. As you know, I am brave. I am here with Danbam’s name. I will not run away. I will convince them with taste. I can do it.

He tells her that she can run away. No, it is not running away. You didn’t do anything wrong. It is not as important as worrying about people looking about us. You do not need to convince others. Just be yourself.

She starts to cry a lot. he tells her that it is okay and gives her a hug. She cries into his shoulder.

In a flashback on the rooftop, SRY says that no one can touch him and his people. What I say has power. No one can sway us. I will become my own owner of my life. There is no price for keeping my principals. I want to live that life.

In the present, SRY still holds Hyun-yi and thinks that his heart burns with anger.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Soo walks up to the general manager and says that he is here to support him, not surveillance him. The general manager says that he is confident today, but I do not see Danbam. It is a big isse that the cook is transgender, she ran away.

Soo asks, did Danbam give up? The general manager says yes, I was about to crush them, it will end like this. I am sad.

But SRY tells them that they are not giving up. He walks up to them. 

Cut to Yi-seo in Jeju looking at her phone. There is abook to her side, the title is “I am the Diamond”.

Yi-seo calls Hyun-yi, she picks up and tries to have a smile on her face. Yi-seo tells her that she is sad right? Hyun-yi says she is just not happy. Yi-seo asks what the boss said. Hyun-yii tells her that he said I can run away. That I dont have to convince anyone to be myself.

Yi-seo asks her, are you going to run away eunnie? 

Behind the scenes. SRy tells the PD that he can cook. Is that violating the rules? The PD says there ae no rules like that, but the situation is….are you okay with it? SRY sys yes. Soo says that this is the top 4 in the country. You will not win.

SRY tells Soo that he is the one that told him his cooking was good. Running away? Did Hyun-yi do anything wrong? he stares at him for a long time then  says, if you do this, it makes me sad. he walks off.

Tony shows up to the Finals as well and says that he saw the article, he worries about Hyun-yi. Sk tells him to worry about it. Tony says that even though Sk hates Hyun-yi, you shuoldn’t do that. SK says, people who are born as men should live as men, people born as women should live as women, that is the natural law.

Tony asks, why do you say that? SK asks if he knows what kind of person she is? She just said F to the natural law and lives her own life. Don’t worry about her, dont’ look down on her. That woman is tronger than anyone else.

Cut to Hyun-yi walking into the competition with a stone cold face. Everyone turns to look at her. She is back lit by brilliant light.

HY – This morning I read a poem. It reminded me of you eunnie, in this situation. I am a bad person to read this poem to you.

Hyun-yi walks all the way to the competition and looks everyone in the eye.

YS – I am a stone, just bark at me with your passion. I am a stone that doesn’t move. Hit me hard. I am a hard rock.

Hyun-yi takes her spot. People continue looking at her.

YS – Put me in deep darkness, I am shiny by myself. A hard rock. I will refuse the natural law of breaking and turning into ash.

Everyone looks at her. Sk and SRY look at her with confidence.

HY – I am Danbam’s cook Hyun-yi and I am transgender!

Everyone gasps and looks at her.

YS – I survived

HY – And I will win today.

Saeroyi smiles, Soo-ah takes a deep warm breath, SK smiles and nods.

YS – I am – I am a diamond.

Fade Out

OOOOOH, I LOVED THIS ENDING!!!!! I GOT CHILLS!!!! Tears started to pool in my eyes y’all, this ending was so powerful. So great. Ah, if you only watch one episode this year then it should be this last ten minutes of this episode. So powerful. I love how everyone was on her side and I love how Yi-seo called to give her strength. This makes me feel like Yi-seo is really turning a corner in her relationships with other people.
