OPENING
We are back on the rooftop. OG’s eyes are red and he is telling the thugs to die as he uses his powers to push them off the ledge. But SJ comes up and yells at OG to stop. STOP! The GGG turns black and the ropes binding OG’s heart tighten. He coughs and grips his heart and feels the trickle of blood from his mouth. He turns and sees SJ standing behind him, he is confused and pained.
SJ – Son Oh-gong…
He cripples in pain again. SJ comes closer to him and asks why he is hurting. But he stops her from coming to him with one arm out and he disappears. SJ is left confused.
SJ – Is he hurting because of me?
Cut to the thugs running down the steps. What was that, what was that! They get to where the body was, but she has disappeared again.
Cut to SJ walking down a hallway. She is thinking that of what OG said, she is the only one that can kill him. She goes to MW’s office and tells MW that OG is hurt. MW tells her that she made him like that…finally. SJ is distraught.
ZOMBIE
Z is at OG’s home, broken and sitting in his chair. She apologizes but OG tells her to just be quiet. She doesn’t deserve to soothe him while looking in the state she is in. He sits and tells her to just be quiet. She asks him if it hurts? He says no, he was just surprised, he will rest and when he feels better, he will look at her. He closes his eyes and thinks back to the rooftop. Then he holds his heart and says, “Maybe she will really kill me,” and has a sly smile.
MW AND SJ
SJ wants to know why OG was like that and MW tells her it is because she told him to stop and he had to. MW tells OG that he can be hurt and SJ made him like that because of GGG. The love that he has to SJ made this stone heart of the monkey king mellow. He has gotten weak because of GGG so he has a weakness now and he can be killed. SJ is the only one that can kill him. SJ wonders, is she really the only one that can kill him?
Z AND OG
OG pours alcohol on Z’s hand and it heals all her wounds. He tells her to drink it and fix herself on the inside as well. He also tells her that this is his super precious alcohol so she should be thankful. Z starts guzzling it. Z wonders if this is OG’s house and he says that it is. She then wonders where Eunnie is. Z says that eunnie is very very sad now, she knows because she is connected to her. But OG just tells her that if she talks more then her wounds will break open again. But Z says that she isn’t a zombie, she has a name, it is Jong Sera. She wants to tell PK her name. OG agrees, PK is her brother. Z says that she will see PK and OG should see SJ.
OG lightens the mood and says that Z was bothering him and Sera is bothering him a lot now too. Z says let’s go out and OG says okay, let’s go out Miss Jong Sera. But then Z holds OG’s arm. She asks him to please burn her in his house. She thinks this is a good place. OG says that he is doing a lot, so he can do this much as well. Z tells him, “Thank you,” and smiles.
PK
PK is thinking about Z while at the god’s bar. He is worried about her and thinks that she was acting strangely earlier. Z runs off to find her leaving Alice annoyed. She thinks that PK likes Z too much. But WG’s sister just wonders why an Octopus is hitting on a pig.
Cut to PK in his car thinking about what Z told him yesterday. Then he sees Z standing in front of him and gets out of his car and gives her a very big hug. He says that he was about to go to Oh-gong Oh-gong to look for her. Z smiles and tells PK that she has her name back.
CANDIDATE
The thugs tell the candidate that the girl died again and disappeared again. the candidate said to call the mom’s phone again. If she is not dead then she will come back to them.
MANSION
SJ comes to the home and OJ tells her that OG is not there, he is in Soo yang dom. OJ tells her that no one can go to Soo young dom unless OG invites them. Cut to SJ in the elevator. She knows that she can get there from the sign, but she doesn’t know how to get there. She looks at the sign in the elevator and asks to open for her. The door opens, but she is just in the hallway. She falls to her knees and wonders what she can do. But then the elevator opens and OG is standing there.
OG – Oy.
SJ tries to stand, but her leg hurts so she falls again.
OG – Does it hurt? I was super hurt because of you, so we are equal now.
He puts out his hand to help her up and then pulls her into an embrace.
OG – You tell me that I shouldn’t hit on you but you always hit on me first.
He starts to pat her on the back and they stay in that hug.
TEA
Cut to the two of them having some red tea at SJ’s place. SJ wants him to drink and she also wants him to eat. Does he want fruit? But SJ avoids saying OG’s name and keeps saying Jogi, jogi (“excuse me” or “hey”). But he thinks if she wants to avoid saying his name then she should call him Jahgi (“honey”). OG also wants to know if they are breaking their contract and taking off the GGG? SJ wants to know if he wants her to take it off, really? He holds his bracelet to her and SJ puts her hands on it like she is about to undo it. But she can’t.
SJ – I can’t, I need you and I need to call you.
OG – You told me you like me a lot, but not enough to take it off. Hey, SJ, it’s alright. I am warning you, don’t be persuaded by me….
He puts his hand on her cheek.
OG – …because I love you.
He grabs his tea and starts to drink it again. Then he coughs. He gives the tea to SJ to drink, it is salty. SJ says that she is sorry, she put salt instead of sugar because she was preoccupied. She hurries to the kitchen to make a new tea and while she is gone OG pulls out the death bell and looks at SJ
MW AND SM
MW and Sm are talking about OG and SJ. SM thinks that MW is on PG’s side. But MW says no, he just thinks that he can use this (or something like that, this part was confusing).
PK AND Z
They are having a cute conversation about Z’s name and being a little sister and getting some energy balls and having a dislocated arm. PK says that he will go get the energy balls and for Z to wait. While PK is gone Z gets a phone call, she answers it and it is the candidate.
C – You picked up the phone, of course, you are still alive.
Z – Who are you?
C – I have your mom, I want to meet you quietly, can you come?
PK comes back out and sees that Z has left.
Meanwhile, MW has come back home from the hospital and is all giddy to see his statue and thinks that everyone is hiding to give him a big surprise. Come out! But no one comes out, no one is at home so MW’s face falls into annoyance. He goes to the fridge and sees that it is empty. He grimaces and says that he likes juk but OJ never makes it for him. Then he goes to the bathroom and sees all the flowers everywhere. He wonders what is all this….ah, Buja never cleans up. But what if she dies….He then starts to wonder where everyone is. No Buja, No PK, no Alice/Octopus….so MW starts to clean everything by himself.
OG comes home just in time to see MW cleaning all the flowers and putting them in huge trash bags. He tells OG that he should have cleaned. MW wants OG to do some work for the house, but OG just ignores all that and pulls out some juk for MW. He tells him congratulations. The juk is mushroom juk and OG tells MW that he will take care of the trash. MW thinks that OG must have put something in there, but then he sees that OG added some mushroom and smiles.
MW sits at the table to eat and OG walks up on him. He tells OG to sit and eat together, he was almost killed, right? OG wonders if MW is thinking about him and MW says that he thinks OG must have put something suspicious in the juk. OG says he didn’t put anything in there and sits down to eat. The conversations changes to the death bell, did he tell SJ about it? But they change the conversation again to the tree ghost. OG doesn’t think that SJ should have been at that tree.
They eat and OG takes a big bite, but his facial expression is strange, like he doesn’t like something about this situation.
CANDIDATE AND Z
The truth is out. The candidate asks Z how she dies and comes back all the time, but Z just wants to know where her mom is. They are in a warehouse and the candidate tells Z that her mom is in this container box. He points to a big metal storage container box. Z slowly walks up to it, she goes to the door of it and looks back, then she goes inside. The tomb is inside. Z goes all the way to the tomb and tries to open it, but it doesn’t move.
Someone closes the door and locks Z in. Z runs to the door and says to open it. But it is of no use. The candidate tells the thugs to dump it in the sea so she won’t come back anymore. All the while Z is yelling at them to open it. But then a bright red mark appears on her chest. It gives Z a jolt and she stops yelling. She slowly turns around and looks at the tomb. The tomb is glowing and bright. Z kneels in front of the coffin, she is scared, but she tries to open it. Cut to a memory of a shaman or chief or something like that. Z hops back and looks around. On the outside of the container, there is an earthquake. The thugs wonder what is going on.
But then the earthquake stops! The thugs think that they should go inside the container. They slowly walk to it and open the door. A is standing there, but we don’t see her full face. Then we see her from behind. She is wearing all the shaman’s clothes and she looks completely different. The thugs want to know who she is and Z tells them that they should be a sacrifice for her. She smiles, the door closes, and we hear the thugs screaming.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
CANDIDATE AT THE STORAGE CONTAINER
The candidate is back at the warehouse and opens the storage container. It is all bloody with two definite human-sized blood stains. He wonders what in the world happened.
MANSION
Cut to the gods and monsters talking. They are talking about the tree shaman waking up. A thousand-year-old spirit is awake and that can give them some big points. BR tells them that she is not easy to kill; when she is hiding in a human body, you can’t figure out that it is her and she can seduce people easily. She can wake up a dragon and she can destroy the world. She is a kingmaker. They start to argue about this spirit and who should take care of her. MW says he can’t do it because of the side effect and he was stabbed…cough…he can’t do it….cough cough……
BR tells OG to take care of it. But OG says that he is dyyyyyiiiiiing…..his heart……..his heart is so mellow, he is having a heart attach…….uuughghhdhdh
BR tells them to straighten up and that it is okay if they don’t want to do it. He will have a discussion in the Sky world as to how to take care of this Asanyo spirit.
Cut to OG kicking MW’s bull. MW yells at him to stop and then spits on OG’s monkey. OG tells MW to stop involving SJ in dangerous things. MW says that Asanyo woke up with SJ’s blood so she will come to SJ and OG should take care of this tong (shit). MW spits at the monkey statue again and OG tells him to stop spitting! Are you crazy!
SEON MI AND SECRETARY
The secretary tells SJ that the price of the land near the tree they took down is increasing incredibly and the candidate wants to put a library or something like that there. The sec goes to the window and sees Z standing outside. Z looks up at him and blows a kiss of flowers. The flower petals go into a motorcyclists eyes and then the cyclist goes to SJ and gives her some flowers.
SJ wants to know who sent this, but the motorcycle person just nods and leaves. The sec thinks that Jonathan must have sent it and he goes to get a vase. Meanwhile, Z is outside smelling a flower and blows another petal off. She smiles as she watches it fly away.
Up in the office, SJ is putting the flowers in the vase. One of the flowers has a petal that comes off and falls on her, it cuts her. The cut produces blood that falls on the rose. SJ wonders when she got cut and goes to cover it up right away. But outside we see that Z’s eyes start glowing, she licks the rose petal and says that it tastes good. Inside, the flower petals start to move, they start to float. Perhaps they will slice SJ again…but something hits them and they are destroyed.
It is OG, he looks at SJ but he doesn’t go to her. SJ comes back into the room and all the roses are gone. She talks to the stuffed animal and wants to know if her brother took it, she smiles.
But outside, OG is much more serious. He thinks that this spirit is someone who likes flowers.
MAWANG AND HIS SEC
MW and SM talk about punishing people on his list. MW says that sky punishment is important and when he becomes a god he will punish people all the time from the sky. he says this with great pompous. Then we see someone come up to the elevator and MW asks him if he can see his cell phone.
MW hits the cell phone away and the man yells at him. MW tells this man that he took a lot of money from normal people and a lot of families are broken because of him. But this man is happy here avoiding the human laws. But he will receive punishment from the Heavens. The elevator opens and MW tells him that he will fall and his body will be all broken, but he won’t die. He will lay there suffering and will be rescued 5 days later and continue suffering in the hospital. The man says that he is sorry! Rescue me! But MW says that people like this man make people think that the sky world doesn’t care about people. GO! The man falls down the elevator.
Cut to MW and SM in their car. They are pretty happy with their punishment back there. MW is happy as the car pulls over. But then we see that Nachal is sitting on the side of the street crying and MW sees her! He thinks back to his painting.
MW – She…she was born in this world
COMMERCIAL BREAK
NACHAL
Nachal is crying on the side of the street. She is sitting on a bench waiting for the bus. MW thinks that Nachal was born again, into this world. He wants to go to her. But SM keeps him from going to her. She warns him that he can’t interfere in Nachal’s life, or she will suffer more in the next life. MW starts to cry and Nachal gets up and walks away.
She walks to MiniGold. It turns out that Nachal owns this MiniGold shop and goes behind the register and starts to prepare for work. MW watches her from the window with a longing look on his face.
Then we see him walking down his hidden hallway to his secret room. Z is waiting in his room and looking at the painting. MW says who are you and Z turns around. MW relaxes when he sees that it is Buja and asks why she is there. She says she is there for some energy balls. He tells her that he heard she fell from a high place and to take as many energy balls as she wants.
MW wants to confide in Z so he tells Z that he told her about Nachal before right, well he saw her again. She looked like she was in pain. Z tells him that MW said that he cannot matter in her life as a human. MW nods. But then Z says that she can help her for him. She is not a monster or a god, so maybe the sky world will not know. MW wants to know how Z can come up with an idea like this? Fooling the god world is not easy.
Z tells him MW that she stepped outside of her boundaries just now and tells MW to take a nice rest. She leaves. We then see Z walking out and she runs into SM. She tells SM that she came to get energy balls. SM tells Z that she smells different. Z pauses and says that she changed her perfume to hide her smell. It is a rose smell now. SM says that is good and lets Z leave.
Z runs into PK next who is super happy to see her. Alice is there too, annoying PK. PK tells Z that he will come home as soon as he finishes his schedule and leaves with Alice. Z thinks that this girl Buja was loved a lot. But she thinks that taking over SJ’s body will be better than Z’s body.
OG comes in next and starts talking to Z. He thinks that Z looks really good and he might have fixed her too well. He is playful and says that Z should give something back to him. Z turns to leave and OG presents her with a rose. Z’s eyes grow big…OG says that he picked this flower up from the street, she likes flowers right? He tells her that he will burn her when she is still pretty. But then he says that she is not Buja anymore…..(Z’s eyes get big)….she is Jong Sera now.
OG leaves and Z thinks that if she possessed SJ, then OG is hers.
MW AND OG
But OG was not fooled and tells MW that Z is not Z anymore, she is the evil spirit. They start arguing over who should take care of her. They each think that they are too weak and hold their hearts and complain about being so weak. Then they finally start to think about why this spirit came to see him first. They think about what they can do. But they still argue about it.
MW thinks that Z’s suggestion was actually really good. He thought she was Buja and ignored it. But he thinks that a shaman with big powers could do something, maybe MW could stab OG in the back now? MW says that they should find a way to persuade Z when she comes there again.
SJ AND JONATHAN
They are both sitting in her office and talking about the flowers that he gave her. But Jonathan says that he didn’t bring any flowers, he prepared a different gift. She is confused, he didn’t give it to her? She opens the gift and sees that it is a gift from Minigold. His movie is about a happy ending for this little girl and he hopes that SJ has a happy ending just like the movie. They shake hands.
SJ looks at the MiniGold necklace and thinks that it is similar to the God-given fate. She opens her box with the black bell, but it isn’t there. She thinks it disappeared and she is sad because she didn’t get a chance to show it to OG.
Cut to The bar god and OG talking about the death bell. OG doesn’t want to tell her about it because it will make her sad. Then he asks if Buja went there? SN says that she did come there and took some red lipstick. Then OG asks about Seon yo. Does she know about her? The bar god tells him what she knows. The evil shaman might be around SJ because SJ is also like a shaman
MANSION
Z and OJ are eating meat, but OJ says that Z never liked meat before. Then OJ notices that Z is left-handed now, but wasn’t she right-handed before? Z looks at him and says that she was always left handed. This kind of mesmerizes OJ and he says, of course, you were always left handed. Then Z asks for OJ to make SJ’s favorite food.
CANDIDATE WHAREHOUSE
They transferred the coffin somewhere else.
Cut to SM and MW showing up at the warehouse. They wonder why the candidate is all over this coffin. Perhaps he feels that this coffin can make him into a king? Cut to the candidate with the coffin in his house. He says that he feels like Z will come there to find the coffin.
SJ AND Z
Z goes to SJ’s home and delivers some flowers to her as well as the food that OJ made. Sj invites her in and starts opening up the container. Z smells her creepily from behind and tells SJ that she has a lotus flower smell. But SJ doesn’t notice any of this weird stuff going on. Z wants to know where OG is and SJ says that they don’t have the best relationship right now. Z tells her that she shouldn’t call him so much because he is hurting. She picks up some flowers and tells SJ, Don’t you think that you should be special….she blows her flowers into SJ’s face.
But then OG hits Z upside the head hard. He yells at her that they should have invited him! What are they doing! Z tries to leave and OG tells her to just come over here and sit. He plops her on the couch. Then he turns and smiles at SJ. He takes her roses and throws them away. OG tells SJ that she doesn’t need these flowers, these flowers are dangerous and he told her not to get hurt. He removes her bandage and tells her that she is still pretty with all these scars, but it hurts his feelings. He puts his hand over her hand and cures her wound. Z watches them. OG looks at his watch and says that he can’t wait any longer.
OUTSIDE
MW and SM are in a car talking about OG and Z, perhaps OG will take Z to Sooyangdong? (W missed a good part of this part)
Inside the apartment, OG tells Z that they should go to Sooyangdong so he can burn her. He leans in and tells her to go quietly. Then he lifts her up and tells SJ that they are leaving. SJ is oblivious.
OG and Z leave.
SJ sits and wonders if she should call. Someone rings the doorbell and SJ goes to answer it. It is MW. MW comes in and tells SJ that he is there to stop her. Don’t call OG tonight, OG is doing something important.
Cut to Z and OG at his place. OG starts to pour a drink to Z and says that they shouldn’t fight there because he has a lot of precious drinks around. He tells Z that she should want to do a lot because she just woke up after 1000 years. MW will want to stop her so don’t go to MW.
Z/Shaman says that OG wants to stop her as well. But OG tells her that he wants to do what he wants to do. Z tells him that she wants to become SJ and she wants to have OG. She gets up.
Z – OG, you will protect me from now on and in the future.
OG – Why am I so popular right now? That is something you can’t do.
Z pulls out some flowers and blows them into OG’s face. OG blocks his face quickly, but a rose goes into his eyes. He is seduced. Z goes right up to OG’s face.
Z – I can control souls…what I want is you…forever…so don’t change and stay next to me. Protect me forever.
OG is frozen with roses in his eyes and Z sits on his lap.
Fade Out.

So “excuse me” is jeo-gi, and “honey” is jah-gi. However, “jeo-gi” is also the word when you say “there” as in “there it is”. So, he’s making a multi-layer word play.)
SM: Because if I call your name, you might get hurt. Back there, when I called your name, you got hurt.
OG: (sighs) So, are you not going to call my name any more? (at SM’s look and lack of response) Oh? Then, are we cancelling the contract?
SCENE #5: OG wants Seon-mi to take off the bracelet, but Seon-mi doesn’t

I think it’s Alice who likes PK. Cause the prince notice that Alice body seems to react if PK is around (when he possessed Alice at the first time)

Okay so the story just took another unexpected turn like what even! I hope SJ interferes and rescues OG from this love spell. I thought I started liking MW but he better not pull any strings behind OG’s back!

I think it’s both Alice (whose heart was thumping at the photoshoot) and the Prince (could be bi?) since the Prince continually hits on PK. LOL the bulgogi joke comes to mind.

They aren’t afraid to touch on these subjects with this drama while still making it playful and fun. I also like how they have a cross-dressing person (a transgender person?) with Winter Gods sister. They don’t clarify, but I am just happy that she is in the show.

Wow! What an ending! We are on to something great aren’t we? We will get to see the power of SJ and SOG’s love.
I like how SOG is still protecting SJ even though he knows she can harm him… The scene outside the elevator gave me hope that his love is deep enough to go through many trials…
I am really excited for next week’s episode…now is SJ’s turn to show the depth of her love….
This drama is amazing… it just gets better…
That ending was crazy. I mean, we never get a break! I feel like I need a nap after watching Hwayugi.
Holy Crap! This episode was super good. I did not see any of that coming in the end and I am actually a little bit confused as to the power play going on between OG and MW in this episode, but oh my goodness. This new spirit has played both of them.
I like the idea that there is a spirit that both SOG and MW can’t defeat individually! However if the two of them combine forces, it will be wonderful…
Those demons they were after for the first ten episodes are like warm up exercises for SoG! Hehehe.. So we will see how great SoG is, in the next 8 episodes…

After watching the subbed version of episode 11, I suddenly remembered a key element in the original Journey to the West: the double Wukong. The second Wukong, which represented the evil side of the Monkey was killed. Perhaps that is the “solution” we will see next week?
Kind of fulfils the Death Bell but also keeps OG around, kind of a necessity – can you imagine Hwayugi without the Monkey? Also there’s another fatal flaw to exploit: MW’s Nachal.
I’m wondering with the new “Buja” – what will happen with the PK-OG dynamic? Will PK “shake” OG loose of the hypnotism?
Questions, questions, guess that’s why we keep coming back for more. A silly question though, is it 16 episodes??
It’s 20 episodes so looks like we still got a lot to watch out for. 🙂
LOL @Mymay yeah, there have been conflicting reports. Another fan said 22 episodes reported. Only afraid that Hong sisters will do more two step dances if the series gets extended but if it’s all action-packed, hey, the more the merrier!
Right now I am thinking the shorter the better. I love a concise storyline. I did want Go Back Spouses to be extended though.
this episode was amazing, but good grief did it pack an emotional punch at the end! I hate that Zombie/Jung Se Ra is now possessed by some evil entity.
Some take-aways I have had:
I think MW, SM, are going to learn about arrogance – their complacency in their own decisions seem to have them seriously underestimating OG, that Sacred Tree, and now the Zombie situation. I think by the end of the series it’ll be a hidden subplot that the Heavens were teaching and punishing MW as well.
Connecting to what AnnaA said in the comments of Episode 11, I think all to do with GGG is to make OG humble, and perhaps that will be to watch someone he once treated callously, then came to love suffer due to his own mistakes, thus making him more divine or heaven-worthy.
We have four weeks left of this drama and I cannot wait to see where the story takes us.
And I hope SJ and OG become a heavenly couple.
Maybe so! Maybe the gods are challenging OG in this painful way in order for him to learn a lesson. It makes me wonder how bad OG must have been to everyone for them to want to treat him like this? He must have been a real pain in the a$$.
plan to read this live recap after seeing the full eng sub of the previous episode, i’ve watched the (11) raw one though (and I can feel how much OG cares about Z and how much OG’s hurt because he couldn’t believe his love would have the heart to hurt him..)
i hope Seon Mi’s love will break the spell…

I think it’s that scene with the shaman-Buja and Nachal human sitting next to each other that is key to why MW (according to OG) “wanted to die”. OG is obviously upset that MW was “killed” and confronted the BR/Patriarch so I doubt he killed MW.
I agree with @*V their previews are rather misleading.
