Extraordinary You Ratings climb to 4.1% in 5th week

Extraordinary You is a little show that could, premiering on MBC to 3.1% ratings and steadily climbing to 4.1% ratings in week 5 (episodes 9&10). As a huge fan of the show, I can see the appeal with viewers slowly starting to tune in.

There are so many things going right with Extraordinary You. The acting is great, the meta of referencing itself as a show within a show while also pulling inspiration from the mega hit show Boys Over Flowers is hilarious and smart and done with a surprisingly heavy and yet light touch so that we also see this drama as its own show. If you have never seen Boys Over Flowers, you will still understand all the references as they lean heavily into dramaland tropes as a whole, not just any one show.

Though it is a pretty big task to pull ratings from the Wednesday & Thursday hit show of the moment, When the Camellia Blooms, Extraordinary You has done just that, dropping the rating climb of When the Camellia Blooms in its 9th week from 14.5% to 13.4%. This helped Extraordinary You to climb to its highest ratings to date from 3.1% to 4.1% in one week.

We will have to see if this was only a blip in viewership, or if the charm of this high school drama is winning over the more mature audience for When the Camellia Blooms. Or perhaps the storyline is stalling out in When the Camellia Blooms which gives kids more control over the remote. Who knows, alls I know is that Extraordinary You is great so far and everyone should be watching it.
