KOREAN DRAMA DINNER MATES RECAP EPISODE 21 & 22 – PART 1

We open at the pension where everyone is all showered and changed and preparing to spend a happy night together. Jin-kyu comes in to the kitchen and asks Hae-kyung if he can take the medicine to Noeul because her foot is a little injured.

Hae-kyung looks at Do-hee but he is pulled away to go be a doctor. Sora asks Do-hee if she isn’t going with him? She asks, well, why shuold I? Though she does look hesitant about it.

Outside, Gun-woo and Jae-hyuk sit and chat. He asks Jae-hyuk if he is really not going home? Jae-hyuk tells him that is not a place he can go back to even if he wants to. Gun-woo asks if he is really okay just finishing things with Do-hee? You look more relaxeed about it. JH tells him that everything is going well.

Elsewhere, Noeul sits by a tree outside. Hae-kyung comes walking up to her and asks if she has a big injury. She tells him that her feet hurt a lot so he asks to see it.

NE – Oppa….

HK – If you are okay then I am leaving.

He closes the medicine case and leaves.

NE – Did you love me? Did you really really love me?

HK – ….Yes.

NE – *walks over to him* How much? Tell me. Can you tell me?

HK – Noeul.

NE – When you say my name like that, I am happy.

HK – I loved you a lot and it hurt so much like I was dying. I had a hard time for a long time. But now I am all better. I feel nothing now.

She cries and puts her head on his chest.

HK – You will be okay.

He sighs and holds her arm. But then he sees Do-hee looking at the two of them. His lips part to say something. She turns and goes inside without saying anything.

Cut to Sora telling Byung-jin that she wanted him to stay there longer. he said that it was difficult to take 10 hours off today. Hae-kyung and Do-hee are also standing there. 

BJ tells him that he will have to work all night when he goes back. He looks at Hae-kyung. Hae-kyung apologizes and says that they will be with them until the end next time.

They say their goodbyes. Hae-kyung tells Do-he that he will call her and they leave. Sora asks her if they are dating? Dohee tells her yes. Sora pretends to choke her and says I knew it! You didn’t even tell me, I should have shot you. But congratulations, this time it seems proper. I feel good about it. I have a good feeling–.

But Do-hee covers her mouth and says her feelings are never right. They walk away joking about it. But then Jae-hyuk interrupts their fun and asks to talk to Do-hee.

He thanks her for that day. She says she did what she had to do. He tells her that he might have died if she did not do that. She tells him it wasn’t that bad. But he says no, for real.

She mentions it is her fault and apologizes. he puts his jacket around her. She puts the jacket on the bench and leaves.

Cut to everyone playing games in one of the rooms. Do-hee walks in and tells them that they should play loyalty game. It is a drinking game. Do-hee starts to drink a lot of alcohol and everyone claps.

It looks like they are starting a truth game? Do-hee asks Sora where Noeul is. Sora says she is taking a walk.

Do-hee gets a message and goes to the side to check it. It is Hae-kyung. He tells her not to drink.

She looks out the window to see if he is watching her? She takes another sip of her beer and tells him okay. he says he will check. She texts back, okay, don’t worry.

He says, come out, I will check you.

Her heart starts racing. She looks around and sneaks outside. Jae-hyuk tries to follow, but the boss pulls him back down.

Do-hee goes outside and is pulled to the side by Hae-kyung. He tells her, lets talk. So they walk and talk.

He says he dropped Byung-jin off and came back again.

DH – Why?

HK – Because my heart was not feeling too happy.

DH – You don’t have to explain it to me why you were with Noeul like that.

HK – I want to explain it to you. When you are with Jung Jae-hyuk and I am not there, even thinking about it makes me mad. It is not that I don’t trust you it is just my heart is like that so I want to ask you all the details and to explain everything to you.

DH – Then do it. Explain and I will hear it.

HK – I didn’t tell you that – I love you. It is so childish and difficult and heavy but that is the only way that I can explain to you why I am doing this. So, Do-hee, trust me.

DH – yes. I will trust you.

HK – *holds her arms* No one can make the past not happen. I will do my best so that this moment is precious.

DH – *nods*

He leans in and kisses her (finally!). It is a long soft kiss.

HK – By the way, you drank.

DH – Um….because I was so sad that you weren’t there.

He laughs and leans in for an even bigger kiss. The camera scrolls out on their kiss. it is super long and soft and adorable.

Later on, they walk around holding hands. He tells her that he will see her around lunchtime tomorrow? Would you like to watch a movie together?

She tells him that she did not see anything that she would like to watch. She actually likes a lot of classic movies.

He says he has a lot of classic movies at home.

DH – Your house?

HK – I didn’t mean it that way, haha.

DH – You should go.

HK – Okay, I will go.

She walks him to his car and wishes him well. He drives away with they both waving at each other.

MORNING

Jae-hyuk is walking in Seoul? It looks like he is back in Seoul. Keanu calls his name.  So Jae-hyuk turns around slowly.

Flashback to Keanu as a doctor. He is trying to call Jae-hyuk on the phone. He can come to him. But Jae-hyuk tells him that he has nothing to say. Keanu tells him that he knows it was not his fault, how can you do this to me!

Keanu walks up to Jae-hyuk. 

Jae-hyuk throws his bag at him and takes off running.

Keanu starts running after him.

Jaehyuk cuts through neighborhood alleys like this is Jason Bourne.

Keanu keeps chasing him.

But then Jae-hyuk falls to the ground after avoiding a car.

Keanu gets to him and tells him that they need to talk.

MOVIE AT HAE KYUNG’S

Do-hee and Hae-kyung watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s through a projector at his home. Fancy! She is all on her side of the couch super into the movie. He tries to make conversation and asks if she is hungry, but she shh’s him.

He can’t believe that she is that into this movie. 

HK – Do you enjoy this movie that much?

DH – Yes.

HK – More than me?

DH – Yes.

HK – *sulks*

DH – *leans close to him* How about ojino and peanuts?

HK – *smiles* Call.

He hops up and she happily keeps watching.

Meanwhile, Jae-hyuk and Keanu are sitting at a cafe. No one else is there. 

Keanu – How have you been? The last few years I was thinking about what I would say to the guy that ruined my life and family. What would I think. I thought about that all the time. But seeing you like this, now I think I wasted my life just blaming you and living worse than dying. I feel like I wasted my life. So I am not going to live like that anymore. Jae-hyuk, lets correct it. Say that your report was a mistake. that it was wrong. You say it. Because of that news, I became a murderer doctor for just a little money. My family became stigmatized as a murderers family. They already left the country. Let’s correct it. You are on TV again. You need to say that it was not true.

JH – I am sorry doctor. But I can’t. You know me. I am abandoned by my family and not acknowledged. I wanted to get acknowledged.

Keanu – Was that all about you being recognized!

JH – I will do anything you ask me to do, but not that.

Keanu – You don’t have to do anything, if you think that you were wrong, then you correct it. But if you cant do it then I do not know what I am going to do. I have nothing to lose. I am giving you one last chance to be forgiven.

Keanu leaves. Jae-hyuk takes several breathes and cries. He tells the doctor that he is having a hard time, leave me alone.

MOVIE NIGHT

The movie ended. Do-hee finally looks up and sees that Hae-kyung has been working at his desk while she’s been watching the movie. She goes up to him quietly and looks at him. Then goes back to the couch where the snacks are and starts to eat them and drink the beer.

He keeps working.

she yawns.

Cut back to Jae-hyuk who is taping a light in his apartment. The light goes on and off. He thinks about what Keanu told him. Then he looks at his crazy psycho board filled with Do-hee and thinks.

Back at movie night, Hae-kyung looks up from his work and sees that Do-hee has drifted off to sleep. He is happy.

Meanwhile, two scary boots walk to Do-hee’s house. it looks like it is a person who is pretending to be Keanu. He goes into Do-hee’s house.

Movie Night. Hae-kyung sits on the couch next to Do-hee. He thinks about waking her up but doesn’t really know how to do it and decides to move a hair off her face. But that wakes her up.

So she sits up. He asks if she liked it? She says yes, I enjoy it every time I watch it. he tells her this is not my type. It is his mothers taste though.

HK – My type is….

He leans in like he wants to make out. But she leans away and tells him that he can be the good boy type tonight. It’s time to go home. He reluctantly sits back. 

She stands and grabs her bag, they head out.

In Do-hee’s house, the fake Keanu is breaking lots of things on purpose and searching around.

He finds her calendar journal and flips through it. Then rips a page out of it.

Outside, Hae-kyung drops he off. She kisses his cheek and tells him that he is her type. He watches her walk to her place, but drives away before she goes in.

When she gets in, she sees that the place has been robbed. Hae-kyung calls, she answers with a quivering voice so he asks her what is gong on?

He hurries back.

She picks up a pan and walks around her small place with it. It looks like that guy is still there? She might have seen a leg?

Fade Out

Okay, this show is devolving into the Jae-hyuk show and me no likey. But in good news, at least we got a kiss!
