VILLAGE

Seo Dan asks him if he is leaving? Seung-joon says that he came there to hide for 10 years at least. But everyone knows and I cant stay anymore. But the good news is that the state department is a bit loose now, so I need to leave with this chance. Tomorrow. I was about to have big trouble by those thugs right before I leave. If I am followed, I should at least go to my district and be followed, not here.

Seo Dan says, okay. Seung-joon asks if she can drop him off at the airport. She says that she can do at least that for him. he thanks her for that and also for what she has done for him. She tells him never mind that. He says she is cool. you don’t even tell me not to leave as a joke.

She asks, why would I joke like that. He asks, yes, why would I hear it even though it is a joke. He smiles at her. She looks at him but then stands to leave. he lightly holds her hand.

SD – What are you doing?

SJ – I thought I did my best to live my life. But I don’t know where I am going. I ran so hard, but finally I am on the bottom.

He kneels on one knee.

SJ – Someone like me to a woman like you. I know that I should not do this. But I want to give this to you.

He reaches into his pocket and pulls out the ring. Then he slides it on her finger and apologizes.

SJ – I am sorry, it is the ring I gave to Yoon Seri. You picked it because it is pretty. that one. This is all I can do. Later, when I visit you more normally. then, in case, if you are still single. Please give me a chance.

She tears up.

SD – Don’t lie to me *sobs*

he stands up and gives her a hug.

SJ – I like you Seo Dan. I like you so I am going to leave knowing where I am going. I am going to live my life like that. I will do it.

NIS AGENCY

An officer briefs the chief. 

Chief – Even though they look like that right now, they are special forces on the border. We have to know what they did here.

The officer hands over his usb and says that they all used Yoon Seri’s credit card. We have to know if they took it from her or if she provided it for them to hide.

So they look at the credit card information. One of them was a PC bang. So they look at what they did – play games (lol). they bought all the game items in order to succeed. The agent checked it, he tells the chief that gold items are cheaper than diamond items. he bought both. 

The chief asks what the 900 won thing is? the officer says it was for a video service with Winter Sonata. And other dramas. They were all dramas that Chae Ji-woo was in (the actress). So I think he is a big fan of Chae Ji-woo. Should i investigate more?

The chief grumbles and tells him to stop. 

The officer also tells him about a norebang that they went to and ate at a convenience store and ate ddukboki. But didn’t spent more than $10. But I am looking at the relationship between those stores.

The chief tells him not to do it! They just ate some food! Who are they! Why are they even cheap with their spending?

Another officer comes in and says that they restored Jo cheol-kangs computer.

INTEROGATION

So the chief takes the computer to Jung-hyeok and tell shim that they found the computer at the site. it was difficult to crack the email, but we did it. If you rad this email, then You will understand him more. Why he tried to shoot Ri Jung-hyeok even though he was about to be killed.

Chief – He also did not have anywhere to go. he could not go to the North, he could not stay int he South. But he did not want to die alone.

Jung-hyeok reads the email and thinks back to what Jo told him about not being able to go to the North and how his parents will be executed.

Chief – Your father said that his son would come back in a few days, so don’t worry about your father.

JH – Yoon Seri, how is she?

Chief – She is in the intensive care unit. She has blood poisoning after surgery. So why were you so harsh to her? You can’t even take it. 

Jung-hyeok looks on, very worried.

NORTH KOREA

Seung-joon is dropped off at the airport, Seo Dan is with him. He thanks her for coming with him and tells her goodbye. Be healthy.

She nods and then gets back inside the taxi. he tells her not to be sick but she zooms off. She cries her eyes out in the taxi though and looks at her ring.

But then we see a group of cars following behind her.

At the airport, Seung-joon tries to make his way inside while avoiding the state police. But then he gets a call from the bad guys that say that if he does not come then they will take her with them. Seung-joon tells them that he has nothing to do with her.

They tell him that they will kill her then. Seung-joon explains that she has a powerful family. You all will die first if you touch her.

they tell him that they do not care about that. i will give you one hour. if you tell anyone or bring anyone with you then she will die.

HOSPITAL, SOUTH KOREA

Seri is still in critical care. 

SR_(Voice over) – I had a dream.

We go to her dream where she is signing paperwork and gives it to her secretary. He tells her that her next meeting is to test the extreme sports wear. Will you really paraglide by yourself?

VO – in my dream, I went back to the day I had my accident.

She goes back to that day of running in the woods and then all the events that have led to this moment.

VO – And in my dream, I knew everything. If i go there today, I knew what kind of scary things I would undergo and who i would meet and today would come. I knew everything.

The chief NIS officer gets a call and tells Jung-hyeok – Seri is in critical condition.

Jung-hyeok runs through  the hospital to see Seri. All the NIS officers follow him. he presses his face against the window to see Seri in the critical care unit. the Chief NIS guy finally catches up and watches.

In the North, Seung-joon thinks about going inside and taking his plane, or leaving. He sees a taxi and rips up his ticket. then he goes to the site and starts to shoot all the men with a rifle. he is a really good shot. He has a good amount of bullets too.

But he gets shot, but he tells Seo Dan not to worry. In my country I shoot clay for fun. then he hops back up and shoots the men again. he gets all of them but one. Then the one he did not shoot comes out and shoots him. Seung-joon is able to shoot that one man, but not before he gets shot int he chest.

Seo Dan runs to his side in slow motion.

SJ – (I was wrong – if I die, I do have someone that can cry for me. That is you. I am sad, but also happy.)

In the South Korean hospital, Jung-hyeok keeps looking at Seri in the critical care area.

SR – (In my long long long dream, I made my choice.)

In her dream, Seri closes the notebook and stands up from behind her desk. She walks past her secretary and goes to take her paraglider.

Hong tells her that the wind is strong. She tells him, do you know why the wind blows? he says no. She tells him, it blows to pass by. To pass by, not to stay. When it passes by, I can fly to meet you. I will undergo everything from the beginning again. 

VO – If I can turn the clock back 100 times…

JH – (If I can turn the clock back, I won’t meet you and you will not know me, so you will always be happy. If I can do it.)

SR – (…meeting you and knowing you and loving you…I knew that I would make that dangerous and sad choice.)

In the North, the ambulance hurries away with Seung-joon in the ambulance. Seo Dan is by his side.

SJ – (If one of us dies and the other is alive…if it was decided like that, then it is right that I die and you live. That is the right thing.)

In the South…

SR – I was happy to make that choice, Ri Jung-hyeok…

Flatline…

Jung-hyeok’s hand drops slowly from the window and he stares on in disbelief…

EPILOGUE

IN the NIS briefing, the chief asks the officer if that is it? the officer explains that he asked the psychiatrist to look at Lee Jung-hyeok’s behavior toward Yoon Seri. We have the result.

The chief sits up straighter and asks for it!

On the video, it shows Jung-hyeok and Seri  walking in a park. It was after he gave the balloon to the little kid

Man – as you see on the video, when Jung-hyeok is with Seri, 90% of the time, his body leans towards her.

He watches her talking on the phone.

Man – And he mirrors her unconsciously where, we saw that many time.

He bites his nails when she bites her nails.

Man – And when strange men come close to her, he repeatedly protects her.

Jung-hyeok moves Seri to the other side of the sidewalk when two men walk by.

The chief holds his head like he has as headache.

Man – The psychiatrist says that this is stereotypical behavior of a man in love.

Chief – Do you really have to analyze that? It is obvious. Aigoo. he straightens his jacket in frustration.

Then we cut to the actual scene of Jung-hyeok and Seri walking in the park. It starts to rain so he holds the umbrella over them both. But mostly over her and pulls her closely to him. They smile and look at each other and continue walking.

Fade Out

COMMENTS

Ahhhhhh! What an ending!!!! Why would they do that to us!!!! So who thinks that Seri is dead? because I kind of feel like it could be her and she will have to be revived by the doctors.

Or, what if both Seri and Seung-joon died and see each other in the afterlife? What if hey have some kind of conversation and then decide to go back to to earth? Or what if only one of them can go back and he lets her go back? Ahhhh, there is so much that can happen!
