ISLAND

Kang buries Badu right next to the fisherman’s grave. Cha-young does a play on words and says that the fisherman will not be lonely because he is buried next to the sea, but Badu is also a word for the sea so he won’t be lonely because he is next to his dog and the sea.

She asks Kang if he is okay. He says he just feels sleepy and looks out at the ocean.

Meanwhile, Joon is looking for them while simultaneously thinking about what his mother told him about his father and grandfather and how they were the best ever. So you tell him about his birth secret.

The father goes to sit with his mother in the hospital. She is still unconscious or sleeping. He tells her that he has a secret, when he learned that Jae-hoon died, I was really really sad. My cry was a true cry. It was real.

I could not even eat because I was so sad. Also, I was super happy. I felt like a huge tightness went away. I felt really good. Umma, since primary school I had to take indigestion pills. But since he died, I did not have to eat them anymore. That is funny right?

But now, I have indigestion again. The endoscopy said I have no problem….

The sister comes in and asks if he is going to the meeting. he says that he is not going. So the sister says he does not have to go, you would just add another yes. 

Then she tells her mother that she should not give the company to that woman, she has nine tails. The brother says that she is her sister in law.

The sister tells their mother that she can do it! But then the brother covers her mouth. the Grandmother looks like she is having a nightmare. The brother and sister argue some more.

The grandmother’s eyes slowly start to open. (Hmm, perhaps she is faking?)

Elsewhere, Hye-mi (Joon’s mother) is cosplaying Maleficent in her new office as she puts on drastic makeup and all black clothing.

ISLAND

Joon sits with the niece at the fisherman’s place and Kang and Cha-young come back. Joon aks him why he did not pick up his phone. Kang says that he does not want to pick it up. So Joon asks, what if it was an emergency?

Kang walks off to the room.

Cha-young tells him that he is so sleepy right now, just let him sleep. The niece asks how he can sleep as dirty as he is right now? Cha-young tells her that she thinks he was so tired that he can’t even wash up.

Kang basically passes out in the room as he falls to sleep.

Outside, the niece asks Cha-young why he is so tired? Cha-young explains that ever since he left this island he was tired and had a hard time. So the niece asks, he is sleeping like that because of that? What happened to the dog?

Joon looks on and then walks inside. He sees Kang passed out on the floor and tells him to wake up. Stop sleeping and wake up, lets go back. he pulls kang up, but Kang is really tired.

Joon tells him it is not the time for him to sleep like this. Not yet. Let’s go to Seoul. Kang looks at him, exhausted and tells him to just leave him alone. I could have lived here with my mother and ajusshi and San. I wanted to live happily.

He lays back down and goes back to sleep. Joon looks like he is having a crisis. As if he just realized he helped ruin someones life.

Joon goes to the beach and sees a text that says that his mother became the chairperson. He sits on the beach and thinks about this.

Back in the house, Cha-young sees Kang knocked out on the floor, so she grabs a blanket to cover him with and a pillow as well. Then she looks at him for a moment and falls asleep next to him.

He wakes up first and sees her sleeping there.

HOSPICE HOSPITAL

A woman with deep red hair sneaks into the kitchen of the hospice and starts her live YouTube video to  talk about food. 

But then she drops it and Tae-hyun comes in and sees her. he starts to video bomb the live footage and then scares the daylights out of her. She tries to think of something and says he is today’s guest.

ISLAND

Cha-young walks to the beach and stands next to Joon who is staring at the ocean. She asks him if he thinks they can climb a mountain with only one foot? I will try it. I will try to climb the mountain in front of me with only one foot.

Doctor Kang also tries to climb his own mountain, so I will try it also. Like before. I will imagine I have two feet.

Joon tells her that it is good, Cha-young, that you are with Kang.

Cut to Cha-young making a meal in the kitchen. We go through her entire process of making the meal and also see flashbacks of her learning how to cook in the chefs kitchen as a sou chef. 

She makes an absolutely gorgeous seafood spread of food and tells herself that she can imagine the kind of smells that the food has.

On the beach, Joon calls his father while thinking about telling Kang to wake up. He tells his father that he has something to tell him about the family. 

Then we cut to Kang walking to where Cha-young is on the pier. He says that he aws looking for her for awhile. She asks when he woke up. he says he just woke up. He took a shower and found some clothes.

She asks if he remembers that Joon came? Kang says he kind of remembers. She tells him that it feels like they are just sleeping there. Kang thinks that is true. Cha-young asks him if he is hungry? He says yes.

So she tells him that she prepared the food this time. Lets eat.

Kang looks at her and thinks.

Kang – (Min-sung, I am still confused. One thing for sure is that this woman who just bothers me and is walking toward me, I am tired of pushing her away with all my might.)

She smiles and stands up while telling him that she should expect that it tastes good. i made it super deliciously.

Kang – (Now, I will follow what my heart says. Sorry.)

He stands up quickly and stands in front of Cha-young.

Kang – Can you not go back to Greece? And….can I like you Cha-young?

They both gaze at each other.

Fade Out

COMMENTS

I love it when Kang and Cha-young are t-o-g-e-t-h-e-r! Ah, why can’t we just keep them together on the island all the time! Today’s episode was so lovely!

I really don’t care about anything else in this show. Joon’s family is all sorts of wacky and the patients come and go so I don’t want to get attached to any of them and am kind of annoyed that they are taking up screen time from the main couple.

This drama excels when Cha-young is cooking, so I really wish they wrapped the story around that and her making last meals for the patients. It would be nice if we don’t even really see the patients, but we see the care that Cha-young puts into every dish and the time and strain she takes to find the proper ingredients, even possibly going overseas or deep into the forest to get items. That is the story I want!

Actually, this show feels like the origin story of that drama.
