The production team and actors of My Ajusshi are in a bit of controversy over the drama’s subject matter. It is enough of a controversy for them to hold a press conference about it. Hopefully everything gets settled and they can focus on continuing with this very well done show.

OPENING
GI watches JA and DH eating and smiling from across the street. He followed her there and basically chased after her as she ran all the way to the cafe. He stopped outside as he saw her go in and just waited across the street. he had the perfect view of the two of them through the window.
JA hears the wind outside and looks at the door. The neighborhood ajusshi comments on the building, he wonders if it is okay under the wind. He goes outside and Dong-hoon goes to check as well. So JA follows them both. DH sees a big crack in the building and checks some other parts of the foundation. He free checks the building and says that it is the same, nothing is worse than before.
The Hyung thinks it is a little worse. DH says teh building is fine, but it might be the foundation. After they did the subway construction, it started to lean to one side.
JA and DH leave and walk back. She asks him if he does it for free, maybe a lot of people want him to check their buildings. You are an architect right? He says he isn’t an architect, he is a structural/mechanical engineer. He starts talking about a lot of detailed construction engineering-mechanical engineering things and all the ways to make buildings. There should be an internal force stronger than an external force. In life if you have an internal force stronger than an external force, then you can withstand.
He says he had a very smart friend, but after college he went to the Temple and became a monk. His parents got sick and the town was in shock. What he said was that he would be a person who owns nothing. A lot of people try to get something to show what kind of person they are. But I don’t know what I own, when everything cracks, what I thought was the core me, then it all crumbles. What I thought was my core is actually not my real internal force. It was just…everything is not me. So maybe I agreed with him unconciously. I thought I liked your resume with just a specialty of running rather than a lot of specs.
JA says that she hates winter. She hates Spring as well. She hates Fall, it is all tired and all starting over and over again. DH sys a 21 year old shouldn’t say those things. She says she is not a 21 year old. Maybe she is like 30,000 years old and had a lot of reincarnations. Why am I reborn again and again.
He sends her off at her hill. She tells him she will see him tomorrow. She starts walking up the steps, but then she runs back down and tells DH, fighting! They look at each other for a brief moment and then he keeps walking home.
He walks past a park and to his building. GI followed him all the way home.

His wife is at home. She is standing and looking at something. He asks her what she is doing. She doesn’t respond at first. But then she says it is about a trial. he turns to go to his room, but he asks her, did you lose? She says that she will win. He tells her to go to bed and he closes the door.
VO – You don’t know, but the safest woman in man’s world is a married woman, then she won’t say that she is having an affair.
In his room, DH takes off his coat slowly and starts hanging in on the hanger. He looks at nothing and the camera scrolls to a happy family photo at their sons birthday party.

CONSTRUCTION SITE
Park meets with Wang2. They talk about DH. Park says that DH got something, but he doens’t want to say anything, he is not the type of person who will attack someone. he is the only one that we can push. After the chairman dies, a lot of family members will sue for their stake in the company.
DINNER
The secretary tells DH that they need 10 people to vote for the CEO (?). The chairman wants to have a CEO reevaluation soon. We shouldnt’ let the CEo become the CEO again. You should become a director this time. So it will be 5 and 5 and the CEo will be out. We all know that you are the first in line to be a director, that is why the CEo pushed you to the safety department.
DH asks if he is a good person to be ane executive, he is not that type of person. He is not good at business or those things. I am just good at doing what I do with my technique.
The secretary says that he should get promoted with time. But DH says he doens’t want to get promoted and replace his mentor.
The secretary runs to talk to Park and Wang. He tells them that DH is not on JY’s side. He is a good person to push. Wang2 wants to push him because he is a clean honest guy with no history of bribery.
COMPANY
DH shows up at work and walks past a team working on something. The person talking acknowledges him. DH keeps walking and goes to the break room.
Meanwhile Yoon is talking about something but he sees a message on his computer. He meets with Wang2. Wang3 recommended DH for a promotion. Yoon is against it, that is his authority. But Wang2 says that he can recommend anyone he wants to, everyone is under him.
Across town, the public phone is getting removed in front of YH’s workplace. She calls JY, but he doesn’t receive it. Instead, he gets up to go home as he thinks about the situation he is in.
YH drives home as well and gets a call from JY. DH also calls JY at the same time. JH doesn’t pick up either call. She gets a text.
JY: Are you busy? I can’t contact you all day.
YH: I went to the campite yesterday
JY: I’m sorry, let’s meet and talk
YH: I am thinking, what should I do so I will will like I won
YH: Let’s see each other, where are you?
He paces the hotel and calls her again. She looks at the phone, but doesn’t answer. She is visiting her brothers place. The brothers help her park and she looks at the 6 missed calls on her phone.

All the brothers happily greet her as she ggets out of the car. They happily talk about the dduk cake she brought and little things like that. Then they all go inside. AR is there as well.
Upstairs, everyone starts preparing for the meal. The brothers put the table together and AR helps prepare the food. YH goes to the kitchen to help as well, but they tell her that she works hard all day so she should just sit. But it looks like YH really wants to help out. They all playfully tell the sister-in-laws that Ummoni likes them more.
YH stands in the background as she waits for something to do, but they tell her that she just came from work, again, and to just sit down. It is fine. So YH goes to sit, but she isn’t comfortable sitting either.
They get a call from DH’s grandson who is at boarding school. Everyone talks to him on Skype or KaTalk. They talk to him about studying and offer some bad advice about how studying is nothing, we have proof, lol. they said don’t be too lonely, you will meet a better woman, but the wife is there and says…I’m here! But it is all playful.
JA eats all the leftover food at her restauraunt job while listening to al this family talk. the boy asks how Umma is and DH says, your mom…..is …..good.
After eating, they talk. AR says she came there to see Ummoni because she doesnt’ want to see her husband. Then she talks about how the brothers hang out a lot. Umma says that the brothers used to fight a lot and bleed all the time, but now they don’t fight after they started drinking. AR gives DH advice, your wife should be #1 in your life, otherwise everything crumbles. Umma says that wife and husband should have a good relationship, then if a war happens, nothing with break them.
They all sing happy birthday to Umma. She quietly prays over her cake. JH looks at her phone again as she prays. It is a very long wish.
Later, they clean all the dishes and YH texts someone. DH sees her off in the back room. They all help clean with YH off by herself texting in the back room. SH prepares an envelope and gives it to his wife. This is the money he made recently. She says he should have given it to her right away, then she would have yelled at him a little less. He says he will give it to her every month. They also give money to their mother. She says this must be her lucky day.
The conversation turns to Jung-hee. Where did she find a house? Umma says she comes out from the same room in the morning, so maybe she just leaves and walks around with y’all and goes back. they wonder why she would do that, that’s sad.
DH opens the door to the backroom and tells YH, let’s go. They drive off. But when they get home, she tells him that she still has work to do so he can get out and she will go back to work. He tells her to wait until tomorrow. But she raises her voice and tells him to get out she has a hard time already. She closes her eyes and apologizes to him about it and reiterates that she is having a hard time. he gets out and she drives off.

HOTEL
JY immediately apologizes to YH as she enters the hotel room. He says that DH found their public phone and is having it removed. She could be in danger/trouble, so lets stop.
She sits and says that seh couldn’t think of a married life with him. She thought about leaving him. She wants to hurt him. He is pitiful, very pitiful, he has been pitiful since college. He pretends like he has everything though he has nothing. We all knew that you were like that. I was happy that your life went well, but you are still a poor guy, you are always tense. But when you were with me, I thought I was something because you weren’t nervous when you were with me. I thought I was smart.
he tells her that they loved each other. No one dates a person for one year risking everything. She says, don’t you know what I risked? I was about to get a divorce for an asshole like you. He asks if she thinks she could get a divorce and live with him? Can seh betray all her other family members? No you can’t do that, I knew that. Seperating like this is better for you. When you can go back, you should go back.
YH – You, were you truthful in any moment
JY – Please, i am having a hard time.
YH – It is so embarrassing that I liked someone like you, I’m embarrassed enough to kill myself.
She leaves and he stays sitting in his seat.
She goes home and takes off her coat quickly. She puts it in the closet and crumbles to the ground in tears. She thinks, how can I live my life, this is so embarrassing, how can I like my life….
At JY’s place. He thinks of what she said…you are pitiful, very very pitiful.
JUNG-HEE’S BAR
The brothers are there and filming an action scene with alcohol. they are having an amazing time making soju cocktails and drinking them. they says that this is homework! Jung-hee comes in looking like a showgirl, they are all like, huh? But she says foreigners like this. They start shooting their soju movie again, lol. Everyone cheers and jumps up and down. then they continue drinking and eating.
DH sits at the bar with Jung-hee. He says that someone told him her age is 30,000 years old and he doesn’t know why she is reborn. But he knows, it is because this isn’t her home, she mistakes that this is her home, that is why she comes here. How can she go back to her real home and not be reincarnated again. Jung-hee says she knows how to do it, you have to stop hating and give love, love, love, that is how you can go to your star land again. DH smiles, it looks like he likes that.
All the drunk men leave with Jung-hee as they jump around and dance. SH says he will follow her to her house this time. But they just let her walk down the street by herself and they wave at her as she goes. Then they tell each other, let’s go. And they leave.
At JA’s place, she gets her Grandmother ready for bed and tucks her in. GI waits outside her place as well. A song plays in the background during all of this.
Jung-hee gets back to her bar and says that she is back. She goes upstairs and turns on the light. (The song is all about how he can go back to his star home when all the thousands and thousands of stars blossom.) Jung Hee says that she wants to give everything without conditions, but no one wants to receive it.
Dh walks home singing this same song as well. But he stops in the street.
JA gtes ready for bed, but she hears a noise on the phone. It sounds like DH might be crying. She turns her head to the phone. The camera cuts to DH all bent over and tearing up. But he tells him self, fighting, and he keeps walking on.

AUDITION
YR is at an audition reading a monologue, but she is bad. Really bad. the casting directors tell her that they can stop there. She doesn’t’ want to do it, so just don’t do it. tell your manager that you don’t want to do it. the other casting director says that she will talk to her alone. So the casting director leaves and the male casting director talks to YR.
He tells her that he really wants her to do this movie. She liked the scenario, she thought it was good, so why are you doing this? YR starts crying.
Cut to her going to the Brothers Cleaners. But the door is locked. She stares at it for a moment then she gets a coffee from the coffee machine. She throws the coffee on the window of the store and leaves.
THUGS
The loan sharks wonder about JI. She has never tried to seduce a man, so is she dating him? Is she seducing him? GI says it is different. he leans in and crumples his beer can. then he stands and leaves.
He goes to a video cafe and find the friend there. the friend is too into his game to notice him. But GI hits the desk and makes him notice him. he pulls him outside.
JA gets a call from her friend and says that GI say her and the ajushi together. he said he doenst’ know anything and doesn’t know where she is or what she is doing. The friend is pretty busted up as he talks to her. He basically tells her to get the money and leave the company. GI knows that she works there now.

JUNG HEE BAR
The actress talks to Jung-hee about when she was little. She was very nice to the first wife of her father. She tried to be nice to the second wife too and everyone liked her. They wondered why she was so happy. She says that she was always happy until 10 years ago. She didn’t know what the hardships of life were.
The ajusshi’s whisper that he should take her out. Maybe we should leave? Your a bad guy…bad guy….
They try to leave, but YR stands up. She sits with KH and says that he was the one that wrinked her and made her straight again. he ironed her. Now, whenever she went to an audition, seh always thinks about him yelling at her, she wants to act again, but she feels like she is suffocating when she goes to auditions. She wants to be happy and bright again. (All the ajusshis tell him to straighten her….straighten her…) she yells at him, he should do his best to straighten her out again!
DONG HOON
DH walks on the street with some juk. GI runs into him and tells him to walk straight. DH goes home and tries to give the wife some juk. He wants her to stand up and eat some. She tries to get up and eat some. JA listens to this.
She recognizes the voice of the person who ran into DH. But she also hears that GI pick pocketed DH’s wallet.
DH gets to the subway and doesn’t have his wallet. He looks around for it and then head out of the subway. he has to take a taxi to work. he reports to the company that he lost his ID.
At the same time, GI looks at DH’s ID from his lair.
At the company, DH gets a coffee and sees that JA didn’t go to work yet. GI calls the company and says that he wants to talk to JA. She says she isn’t there yet. He hangs up the phone quickly and looks crazy…this girl.
The woman is startled by the caller. DH says she should call JA, so the woman calls her. JA is in front of the Thugs building and doesn’t pick up the phone. She goes into his office and he is surprised to see her. She says she thought he would come to her company so she came there first. She is paying him, so why is he following her.
He says he wondered how she made money. How did you get into a company like that? Do you make coffee and take phone calls? So you picked that guy? I saw you drinking together and walking you home. He didn’t’ look that rich. Do you two take company money together? he isn’t that guy. Does he know that you are a killer?
She asks him if he knows that she killed someone. He can’t kill her, but she can kill him. She says that she gets $1000 from the company and she gives him the money. That is her part time job. That is her only way. JA looks out the window and hears a silence. She says that they came. I called tho police and told them that you pick pocketed. I can take the wallet if you want.
GI pulls it out and says that he knows his name, Park Dong-hoon, and his company. He throws the wallet out of the window. JA says, if you go near him then you are really dead. He asks her if she liked him. She says yes, and leaves. he is left a bit taken aback by her confirmation.

The duty police come in and tell GI that they have a report. JA goes and picks up the wallet from the ground and leaves.
Cut to DH getting a call about a customer picking up his wallet. He tells them thank you, he will be there to pick it up. JA comes in at that moment and sits at her desk. He sees her and looks like he wants to talk to her. he goes to the break room and grabs a drink, then he walks over to her desk.
DH – Is your halmoni sick?
JA – No, I slept late.
She keeps working on her things and he leaves to his desk.
BROTHERS CLEANERS
The brothers are busy cleaning an office area somewhere. They quietly clean and then leave. SH tells the youngest to walk slower. But he is in a hurry. He tells SH that he will be back and he takes off in the van. Sh calls him a bad guy (like Cinderellas sister kind of guy).
KH runs up to YR’s door and rungs the ringer. She is still sleeping inside. he knocks on the door repeatedly which makes her pull the covers off of her face. She goes to the door and he starts talking right away.
KH – I will straighten you out so tell me what I need to do.
YR – It’s okay
KH – I will straighten you out!….I’m sorry, I will be nice to you until you get better.
YR – Once…..can you hug me once?
KH comes back to her door. He slowly pulls his arms up and tries to hug her, it is a bit of an awkward hug. He kind of hugs her as she stands there like a statue, and then he leaves right away. She wipes away a tear.

COMPANY
All the higher ups talk about promoting DH. He works the hardest and has a high ability, look at his numbers. The secretary is all for it, but Yoon is against it. The secretary and Yoon go back and forth with how great or how bad DH is. It is a battle.
But Yoon slips up. He says he puts the good guy on the safety team! His team rolls their eyes.
The secretary is all like, so you said the good guy is on the safety team? It is confirmed then. He is the best person in the company, if he doesn’t get promoted, then who will trust us? He is #1.
Cut to DH at his desk. Everyone cheers him. He finds out he is one of the candidates up for promotion out of 3. The CEO walks past, upset at the world. Everyone giggles at how the CEO isn’t happy and ask DH if they should drink today.
Yoon meets with JY about what happened with DH. they have two people as a candidate. they want one to resign so they can focus on one of them. But JY just texts JA to come out. He storms out of the office.
At the same time, Director Park calls DH and tells him not to back out. He needs to grind JY and kill him that way. That is justice, okay? DH looks hesitant as he holds the phone.
JA meets with JY at a fancy bar. She tells him that a woman figured out that she kissed DH because of how she lifted her feet to kiss him. He also said publicly that he will fire her. So she had to back off. JY says that DH is a good person, but he doesn’t know why people like him…would you like to date him for real? You can get extra money and say he forced you to because he is powerful. I will give you a $10k advance. I need to have something. You can date him and sneak peek him and wire tap him. It is money for working hard.
JA – so how should I work hard? Just get naked?
he says that she shouldn’t’ do that. She should just report to him one at a time. Just make a lot of evidence that he cannot deny. Do you understand?
JA leaves and slowly walks away thinking about the meeting.
She told him that no one would like someone like her. He told her to just eat and drink, that’s eat. She says, that means he likes me? JY says, yes, that means he likes you. No one eats and drinks with a woman they don’t like. But she thinks a lot of poeple do that. But JY says not with Park Dong-hoon. If he eats with someone, that means he likes them. So just do that much. I will take care of the rest.
She stops at the subway, still thinking about the meeting. DH also stops at the subway thinking deeply. She turns and sees him standing there and thinks back to what JY told her…..
VO – ….PDH is not like that, if he eats and drinks with a woman then it means he likes that woman and if something happens then he won’t deny it.
She looks at Dh staring at the subway, everyone gets on the train except them.

This is the song sang at the bar and on the street as the bartender and the men walk home. The song in the drama is sang by Ko Wo-rim who is a Seoul University Opera singing student. The OST isn’t released yet. It is originally a Russian song, but the lyrics are very different.

Great job! Thank you for the live updates. this show is really amazing and realistic. I like how there relationship develops organically. I don’t care if it is platonic or not. When they are together, it just feels right. Even the silent interactions are kind of soothing.
V and O, your recaps make my day tonight. the whole day, or should i say the past few days when all teh press and reports and comments were saying there shouldnt be any loveline, i was devastated, while still hanging by a thread since the director’s comments. but your recaps lift me up, with a hope that there are after all mutual likings between DH and JA, while i will not hope that they shall have happy ending. nonetheless, i truly wish at least they ever fall in love with each other, and experienced a true deep affection. with your recaps, i am sure JA will not lie when she confessed that she liked DH. and again, your recap end the show with another blessing that DH will only ate with the woman he liked so carefreely…. wow. you make me go to bed a very happy puppy.

Notice how GI is always bending down to get in JA’s face? (I mean, beyond the height difference.) I think that HE thinks he is trying to intimidate her, but instead it seems like she is the stronger one. She normally does not look at him directly, like she can’t be bothered, so he is trying to get in her line of sight . He has to get to her level, not the other way around. She is a tiny bad ass… And when he ran into her as she came to his lair and he reared back with that squawk of surprise, I actually cackled! I love this show. Thanks for recapping!
Wow, this is a good observation. It is like he wants her to notice him so he had to go out of his way to get in her face. But she isn’t bothered by him and doesn’t shirk away or flinch when she is around him. He is just an annoyance to her.
agree! i noticed that too in this episode. He is so desperate to intimidate her when he knows so well its hard!

She told him that no one would like someone like her. He told her to just eat and drink, that’s eat. She says, that means he likes me? JY says, yes, that means he likes you. No one eats and drinks with a woman they don’t like. But she thinks a lot of poeple do that. But JY says not with Park Dong-hoon. If he eats with someone, that means he likes them. So just do that much. I will take care of the rest.

Remember when he told her if she can’t repay the dept to tell him, he wants her to depend on him like that way it’s will give him the excuse she stay by his side.. but now our girl found her knight who will protect her and GI doesn’t like it one bit..
Not the reason she killed his father but I think there is more story about these two we don’t know about!

I think that song is an OST song that isn’t released yet. This drama sticks very closely with their soundtrack.
oh my! can this get any better? Am enjoying the poignant moments and yet I feel the chills go down my spine at the next moment.
I think the show is trying to say how everyone deals with their life/loneliness etc. It was hard to watch JH go to her home and say ‘I am home’. Every character has so much depth. DH’s wife break-up was to the point. A smart woman kicking his ass. Loved the execution.
It is interesting how much DH talks to her. Its strange, given he never talks to his brothers even though he drinks with them every day.
Now, our lead lady has some tough choices to make and growing up to do.
