My Ajusshi / My Mister Live Recap Episode 5

We left off with Ji-ahn feeling an emotional connection with Dong-hoon. How he described being able to anything, even kill someone, if they hurt his family member cut right to Ji-ahn’s heart, because she did just that when Guang-il’s father was attacking her grandmother. But, will this change everything with her plan to get DH fired? Will she switch alliances? She still needs another $10k, perhaps her and her techie friend can just voice-fish a few dozen people and call it a day.

OPENING
Everyone is at the bar that they love and they are watching a soccer game. The youngest brother is talking to DH. He says, even though he doesn’t have money, he still likes to buy nice underpants. He wants to have nice underpants when he dies so he won’t be embarrassed. What about you brother?

His last moment, only his underpant will come with him. So don’t feel embarrassed about me. DH is all like, I’m not. Then the brother asks why DH’s wife doesn’t know that he is a cleaner. DH tells him that he didn’t have a chance to tell his wife, but the little brother thinks his brother is embarrassed about it. he asks his brother if he had any trouble and tells him that he wanted to crawl into a trashbag. The only thing he did in all his movie career was wait. He still gives him pocket money so it makes me want to go into the trash. i know you give me a gift card and you got it from soemone, but I know that you bought it. I know you did it all for me and now I will work hard with cleaning and i will buy you some nice tuna. (JA is listening in while washing dishes at work.)

DH tells him to buy him something more expensive, i-noma (jerk). DH goes to pay for everyones bill but then the friend says that everyone should chip in, so everyone chips in and DH counts it all up. They all leave, it is only DH and the bartender, but she is almost sleep again. He tells her he will put all the cash in a small container and she should lock the door so she doesn’t get robbed again, bye.

He leaves and we go outside where some ajusshis are talking about how they have to work in the morning. The bartended comes outside and says they can stay longer but they leave. She wanted to drink more with them. But as the men leave she says to herself, I wanted to leave with you guys (join you guys).

The brothers talk about DH and the little girl they saw him with. JA is walking around the street by this point. DH doesn’t want to talk about her, but the oldest brother keeps shooting the breeze about how brothers need to be open about women. But then JA walks toward them. He asks her where she is coming from and she says it was a part time job. He tells her that she works hard and walks on.

DH keeps walking and his brothers follow. We see things from her perspective as they talk about her, that’s the girls right?…..I have a feeling…..just stop…

MORNING
Umma tries to wake up her sons at home and they want to stay asleep. She tells them to wake up over and over again and hits them

DH texts the monk while on the train

DH: How is the temperature? I go to work everyday dragging my heavy heavy body
Monk: Your body is only 150 pounds, but your mind is heavy

DH is lost in thought.

Cut to JA kicking DH’s foot on the train which pops him back into reality. DH stands right up and runs out. He follows her, but he is pretty far behind her. They both go into the building together but they are pretty far apart. But then they get into the elevator together with a lot of other people.

DH – You wake up people with your feet? Only yangban wakes up their servants.

COMPANY PEOPLE
The heads are all meeting. Yoon tells several people that he took care of everything that director Park screwed up. So it is theirs now. They need 10 people to keep JY as the CEO. Wang2 is in on this meeting as they talk about who they need. They start to talk about how JY handles company situations well. They also talk about how JY moved DH under director Park.

Wang2 takes a call from someone and talks about JY and how he is trapped. maybe he was talking to Director Park?

DH
Meanwhile, DH is meeting with his team and talking about architechture stuff. Safety and all those things. Yoon walks smugly up and interrupts them. He says they won’t have any earthquakes, so they don’t have to make it that strong. DH wants to make it properly. Yoon tells him, that is why you are always a manager.

MORNING
Umma tries to wake up her sons at home and they want to stay asleep. She tells them to wake up over and over again and hits them

CLEANING BROTHERS
One of the neighbors is nocking on her neigbors door again because this person keeps throwing up on her door. The woman comes out and apologizes to this ajumma. She looks very hung over. The lady tells the ajumma that she is having a hard time, can this ajumma tell her all these things later? The brothers look at each other while they clean the throwup.

they go outside and one of the brothers says that they should only come there on Thursdays. They hop in the car and drive away, but they stop. KH gets out of the car and runs back.

We see the drunk woman trying to get back in bed when she gets a ringing of her bell. it is KH. KH tells her to call him when she throws up and don’t get yelled at (in banmal). She runs out and says that he is a director…he is the director right?

Cut to KH hurridly walking back to the van. SH asks him if he knows her and he says, he doens’t know her. But she is waiting outside and watching him leave with a business card in her hand and a smile.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Two men are talking at work. If I were him I would quit when the hoobae became the CEO, that poor guy. Do you think he will quit, he won’t quit….if he misses the time to leave the company, then he will be disgracelfully let go. (DH and his team here these people talking about that). His colleagues tell him not to drink aone.

DH AND DIRECTOR PARK
They both meet at a cafe and talk. But Director park talks in code-sh terms. DH says he doesn’t like JY because last Spring he pretended like he was close friends with me, but I felt like he owes me something. He tried to be close to me but I didn’t accept it. I didn’t like him before, but that moment, we started to become bad.

So you didn’t like him because he tried to be friends with you? You really hate him. Look at this, this is what he did to you. He hands him a document. (JA is listening in)

JA’s friend calls him and tells him that the rent is due and she yelled at him when she saw the halmoni. But he told her to give them some time.

AFFAIR
JY and YH are kissing in bed. A phone goes off, but they don’t answer it. Another phone goes off, but he doesn’t accpet the phone call. But then he answers. JH wants to know who that was, was it a man or a woman? A man or a woman?

But he doens’t answer.

Cut to JA letting JY listen to the recording she has…maybe he has something…maybe we missed something….you can catch something….we have to take him down this time.

JY wants to know if she is also wiretapping. She just tells him that they have his cell phone numbers. JY tells her not to call him and leave her phone number, just use a public phone. So you failed with DH?

JA says she thinks this method is better than a scandal. Getting people who tried to fire the CEO is better, we can fire them with that. But JY says he can’t use illegal wire tapping, he needs evidence. JA leaves and tells her friend to put the recording in the company inspection team email.

BUS
DH opens the packet he got on the bus. It is a list of phone numbers. he puts it back inside the packed and looks out the window, disturbed.

FRIENDS HOUSE
JA wants to know why her grandmother is so clos to the window. The grandmother says she wanted to be closer to the window so she could see that moon, but it is hard to see it from there.

JA leaves and buys some things from the local grocer. Maybe she stole all the things? And the cart? She is running down the street with the car and gets hit by a bicycle. But she gets back up and keeps running. DH sees all of this and yells her name. Ji-ahn shi…..Ji-ahn shi….. but she is just taking off down the road and up the hill.

DH runs after her and keeps yelling her name. he runs all the way up the hill and turns the corner. He has the persimon that she dropped and he calls her. he looks around and holds the persimmon in his hands. Then he sits and puts his cell phone away. he looks at the sky for a moment and then hears a cart noise. JA is trying to get her grandmother up the steps to her place.

DH asks her where she is going so late, you dropped this. JA stumbles and her grandmother almost falls out. DH grabs it and sees that halmoni is in the cart, he tries to hold in his shock, but his eyes are very wide.

Cut to DH helping JA carry her grandmother’s cart to the street. But as soon as they get there, she ignores him and leaves. He just watches her walk away.

Halmoni says that the moon is pretty, she likes it. So JA stops the cart and lets her Grandmother just look at the moon for a moment. They both watch the moon in quiet and a lovely song plays. then Halmoni asks who that guy was. JA says it was a company guy. Halmoni says that he looked like a good person. JA tells her that it is easy to be a good person if you are rich. Halmoni just sighs and looks back at the moon and then back at her granddaughter.

A little while later, JA pushes her grandmother back home. But she stops when she sees DH waiting for her. DH carried halmae all the way up the steps and JA watches him from the bottom. She looks concerned or maybe touched by the effort? Then she starts to walk up the steps behind them carrying halmoni’s blanket. When they get to the top DH tells her, door, and JA runs ahead and opens it.

They all go inside and DH helps Halmoni to her room. Halmoni tells him thank you and JA gets her in a comfortable position. DH leaves without saying anything and JA doesnt offer to say anything. But then JA goes outside and DH turns to talk to her. But they are both quiet. He tells her that she is a good kid and he is leaving. He turns away again and starts walking down the steps and back to the street. JA watches him walk the entire way.

then we see DH returning the cart to the shop and even putting it back in it’s rack. He goes inside the store. And JA is still standing at her house.

BROTHERS
SH talks about the throw up girl, she was a new actress that messed up Ki-hoon’s movie. But his movie still went to Cannes. But his career went down because of her and her career also went down because of him. So they aren’t good for each other.

They get ready to go to work and the throw up girl is outside to greet them. her name is Cho Yoo-ra (YR). YR is bright and happy as she greets them. But then try to ignore her and they both have cold faces toward her. But she is trying her hardest to smile at them, she even brought them some bread. She gives it to them and they thank her.

While she leaves, the oldest brother asks KH if she liked him. He says, a little bit. SH wants to know why she was hiding and he said it’s because her acting was always bad.

WORK
DH takes a tiny break in the break room. JA comes in. he asks her who takes care of her halmoni while she works and she says her friend stops by. He asks her her name in Chinese characters his sons name also starts with “ji”. She says it means rich and good life (peace). He says that is a good name. He leaves.

Meanwhile, company men listen to the company record between Director Park and DH.

Afterwork, all the men want to go eat and drink together. DH sees JA walking alone and invites her with them. But she is super standoffish and doesn’t talk to anyone. She just sits there and looks at the wall. DH tells someone to give the food to her and they pass it down. One of the men says he is sad that she is wangta (people don’t talk to her).

The girl who is having the company affair tells JA to flip the meat for them, but JA doesn’t respond. JA asks her, what if I cook it better than you? They both stare at each other and have a bit of strong tension.

Director Yoon comes in and starts to pick on DH about not greeting them. He is just giving him a hard time. DH gets up and goes to sit with all the other men and pour them drinks. His colleagues sigh and turn back to their table. They start to talk about how the sunbae goes to greet the hubae? What the F?

Ah, the entire company is at this meeting. The CEO starts a toast and raises his glass, but Yoon yells at everyone, DOnn’t raise you glass higher than the CEO! The CEO tells him to just stop so they can drink comfortably. They all toast.

But then DH starts to have a hard time, because he has to keep the CEO’s cup filled. Yoon still gives him a hard time. But the CEO tells him to just relax, DH likes to drink alone. he is the same.

Meanwhile, all the company men look at CCTV in the office. then we cut to them going through DH’s desk to find the phone record file. But it looks like they can’t find it.

At the company outing, Yoon tells everyone that the CEO is leaving which means that everyone should be at attention. But one of the friends is drunk and tells the CEo that he heard he was his managers hubae, is that true? Then, you should call him sunbae-nim privately since we are not at work. DH runs up to him to pull him away. Yoon yells at him, THIS IS NOT SCHOOL! And he keeps yelling about other things like bullying and stuff. Yoon threw DH somewhere, but he wanted to charge the drunk guy. It causes a big commotion in the place.

Outside, the CEO tells Yoon, if the chairman knows about this then you are in trouble. Yoon goes back inside and tells them all not to talk about what just happened.

DH talks to his colleague and tells him that he F’d him more today, just stop. The colleague apologizes in a drunken way.

Inside, JA is still drinking alone at the table. She pours her own drink while another colleague drunkenly talks about him. He thinks DH should just listen to the people, they also feel bad because their manager is bullied, whose fault is this? The CEO’s fault or my managers fault?

JA slaps him and calls him a dirty guy. They are all like….huh? What is going on?

JA leaves.

DH is quietly walking down the street amongst the snow and JA is also quietly walking and listening to him. DH is a little drunk himself and looks at the railroad tracks. He looks left and right up the tracks and then behind him. It looks like he doesnt’ know which way to go. He turns back to the front and takes a step, but he falls in the snow.

JA stops walking.

DH just lays there in the snow as all the snow falls on top of him and JA stays standing in the snow as well.

But then she starts running. Perhaps she knows where he is?

DH looks at the sky
DH – I can’t die today, my underpants are not expensive.

He pulls himself back up and starts walking again just as JA gets to him. She watches him walking away over te hill until he is out of view.

BAR
The CEO drinks alone at a bar. He calls someone and says that they shuold see each other.

JA walks along a sidewalk and meets with JY.

He tells her, you go to team meetings? Was it fun? A day like today? Did Park really get the phone record? You heard it, why can’t they find it?

JA – why are you dating a married woman in this important point. You can just not see her. Is she that attractive

JY – For men, married woman are more attrective and sfe because they can’t talk about it and she is hot. She can’t just leave me.

DH goes hom eand talks to his wife. they tallk about the brother calling her and asking her about an LLC. DH says he quit movies and is a cleaner now. YH asks DH, why don’t you start a business? You can’t be at the company forever, it is better to start a business when you are younger. DH thinks they need at least 500k to start a business, it isn’t that easy. He starts to talk about businesses failing. YH asks him how long he will go to work like cow going to the slaughter, that is not living. Just quit, I can help you!

But DH doesn’t say anything and just leaves.

We see him walking through his apartment and we hear him breathing. JA listens in on the subway.

COMPANY
One of the team members says that it is a secret that he got slapped okay? I will get my revenge later (but non chalantly).

Then we cut to a team member writing an apology letter about how he was drunk that night. DH also writes an apology letter.

Cut to the team going home for the day. irector Yoon asks DH if he wrote his letter properly, while DH was with his team in front of the elevator. DH looks pissed. But he goes down the elevator with his team.

However, he goes back up and looks through his drawers. He sees something is wrong. he goes through his drawer and finds the phone records, he hid it waaaaaaaay inside his drawer in a hidden area. He checks all the phone numbers. The internal line and the external line. He puts it in excel and color codes it with markers and basically has it all organized. Then he calls someone.

DH – this is our company, we want to send you a congratulations president for the opeing of your company, I need a phone number and a name.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

BROTHERS
they either finished a job or are about to start a job. A sports car drives up next to them and some people get out. One of the guys asks him if he remembers him, he was his sub director. YR says she was drinking with him and told him that she saw KH. KH just nods and the man leaves. KH also tells her to leave since they didn’t have a good relationship anyway.

But the woman slowly walks up to him.

YR – Excuse me director, thank you so much to fail. Now I feel good, I can breath now. Thank you so much.

She turns and leaves, but western music plays. She turns back.

YR – Director, would you like to drink?

KH sighs.

They go to their bar and drink. The bartender is there. YR talks about how the director was so hot and she became the main actress of his first long movie, but after 3 months, she became stupid because he was yelling at me all the time and I did all the stupid things. But she is happy that he failed. It wasn’t her problem, it was his problem. Until now, I thought I was a bad actress, I started to drink right after I met him, I became broken, whenever people talked about him, my blood boiled, if his life went well then I would die.

KH – I try hard not to be succesful.

YR – Thank you, you are so lovely, our failed director.

SH starts laughing and this scene is pretty comical. The two leave but KH turns back, he calls her a crazy woman, because of her, my life didn’t go well.

COMPANY
DH calls all the suspicious numbers. It looks like he called this number many times, but it is a wrong number. He looks at the phone records and circles a date. Then another date and another. he has figured something out.

MORNING
DH is still at work, maybe he didn’t go home that night.

DH – Wrong number, rejected call I know, but what is can’t accept a phone call?

Colleague – What is can’t accept a phone call?

JA goes up to him and tells him it is from a public phone. You can only call but you can’t recieve. DH looks at his computer and searches for public phone locations. he finds one and then makes another call.

DH – Can I get the location for a public phone?

INSPECTION TEAM
The team looks at the CCTV from last night and see that where he hid the phone records. They go straight to his seat.

But DH gets off the other elevator as they get on. Split screen. DH gets in a taxi and the team goes to his desk.

DH – (on the phone) I think I can catch it, it is a public phone, every other day…id I go there then I think I cancatch them.

In the pffice, the inspection team goes through all of DH’s things with everyone looks on. JA looks at them and then looks like she wants to help DH.

DH gets out of the taxi near his wifes business. There are a lot of law offices around this area. DH walks to the payphone and checks the number.

Then he turns and sees his wife walking with someone. His face is shocked a he looks at her walking closer to him. They get to each others, and JA shows up at that location as well, she watches them as she continues walking across the street. So for a moment, all 3 of them are in the screen at the same time.

DH – Every human just talks bad behind peoples backs, close friends don’t mean they don’t do it, they just talk bad about you that’s it.
YR – That guy once had his prime, but you guys are nothing
DH – How dare you slap someone, why did you slap him, what did he say?
JA – Because he was talking bad about you, ajusshi.

TEXT PREVIEW
The internal investigation team is ruthlessly searching for JY’s call list in DH’s desk. Meanwhile, DH follows JY’s phone list and is shocked because it was in front of his wife’s law office. Also, DH’s two brothers try to cheer him up and JA starts to share DH’s emotions while wire tapping him (listening to him over the wiretap).
