The premiers didn’t stop in October! We’ve got 6 Korean dramas premiering this month ranging from a birth center comedy, an AI program that helps you figure out your pitiful romance life, a Danielle Steel-esque high society revenge, a supernatural ghost hunting show all from a noodle shop, and more coming up this month that all look interesting in their own right. There is a little bit for everyone so take a look and mark your calendars!
Birthcare Center

Genre: Comedy, Drama
Starring: Uhm Ji-won, Park Ha-sun, Choi Ri, Jang Hye-jin, Yoon Park
Plot: Oh Hyun-jin (Uhm Ji-won) is the youngest executive at her company. Dubbed an “ace”, she seems to be good at everything except motherhood. After giving birth, she checks into a postnatal care facility. At the facility she meets other women on a similar journey.
This one’s fresh out of the oven, folks! It’s nice to see more and more dramas highlighting motherhood and all that comes with it.
Please Don’t Date Him (Alternate title: Please Don’t Meet That Man)

Genre: Romance
Starring: Song Ha-yoon, Jun, and Yoon Bo-mi
Plot: Wanting to date but avoid toxic people, a programmer named Seo Ji-sung ( Song Ha-yoon), creates an artificial intelligence program to help people do just that. Too bad the only guy she can’t figure out is Jung Kook-hee (Jun); a firefighter living off the social media grid.
Uh…is this technology available? Asking for a friend. This drama sounds like a mix of My Holo Love and Love Alarm. I’m intrigued.
Live On

Genre: Romance
Starring: Jung Da-bin, Hwang Min-hyun, Noh Jung-hyun, and Yang Hye-ji
Plot: Pretty and popular in school and on social media, Baek Ho-rang (Jung Da-bin) has it all. But when a mysterious figure online threatens to reveal her deepest, darkest secrets, she joins the broadcasting club in hopes of enlisting the help of Go Eun-taek (Hwang Min-hyun). Will the righteous president of the club be able to help her find this hidden enemy?
Is that you, A? I’m getting war flashbacks to my time spent watching Pretty Little Liars. “‘Cause two can keep a secret if one of them is dead.”
The Goddess of Revenge (Alternate title: Get Revenge)

Genre: Suspense-Thriller
Starring: Kim Sa-rang & Yoon Hyun-min
Plot: Kang Hae-ra (Kim Sa-rang) is a beloved reporter who shot to superstardom therefore permitting her to marry rich. After a scandal, she falls from grace. Armed with her anger and determination, she teams up with a cold lawyer who’s also been burned named Cha Min-joon (Yoon Hyun-min) to destroy those who brought them to ruin.
It’ll be interesting seeing these two act together. Aside from a very brief supporting role in Abyss, Kim Sa-rang hasn’t been in anything since 2015.
The Uncanny Encounters (Alternate Title: A Wonderful Rumor, Amazing Rumor)

Genre: Supernatural
Starring: Jo Byung-kyoo, Yoo Joon-sang, Kim Se-jeong
Plot: A group of hunters called “Counters” track down and capture evil spirits under the guise of being employees at a noodle shop. So Moon (Jo Byung-kyoo) is our central Counter. With astounding physical strength and stamina, him and the rest of the counters keep the neighborhood safe.
I wonder if their noodles are any good…
Awaken

Genre: Suspense/Thriller
Starring: Namgoong Min, Lee Chung-ah, and Kim Seol-hyun
Plot: Three very different detectives named Do Jung-woo (Namgoong Min), Jamie Layton (Lee Chung-ah), and Gong Hye-won (Kim Seol-hyun) team up to solve a series of mysteries all linked to a case that took place in a small village twenty-eight years ago.
I’m so proud every time I see Namgoong Min listed as the main lead in a drama. I grew up seeing him as the second male lead in everything, so this new turn as leading man in the past couple of years is well-deserved.
There you have it! Our November watchlist. Which drama are you most excited to see? I’m really looking forward to “Please Don’t Date Him” and “Awaken”. The characters in “Please Don’t Date Him” sound quirky, and I’m always down to watch Namgoong Min in a good mystery.
