A lot of us are still quarantining and social distancing, but the good news is some interesting dramas are slated for release this month.
Here are four that will provide some much needed escapism.
My Unfamiliar Family

Genre: Family Drama
Starring: Han Ye-ri, Kim Ji-suk, Choo Ja-hyun, and Shin Jae-ha
Plot: Kim Eun-hee (Han Ye-ri) plays the middle child in a family who is drifting apart. Instead of confiding in her parents or siblings, she talks to best guy friend Park Chan-hyuk (Kim Ji-suk). This drama will explore if blood is really thicker than water.
Comments: Personally, I’ve always found the subject of if blood is thicker than water fascinating, so I’m looking forward to this one! I’ve also loved Han Ye-ri since Age of Youth (aka Hello, My Twenties). I’d watch her in anything.
Backstreet Rookie

Genre: Action/Comedy
Starring: Ji Chang-wook & Kim Yoo-jung
Plot: Based on the webtoon by Hwalhwasan and Geumsagong, this drama is about a chance meeting between a regular guy named Choi Dae-hyun (Ji Chang-wook) and a high school troublemaker named Jung Saet-byul (Kim Yoo-Jung). They meet again four years later, and Dae-hyun now runs his own convenience store. The twist? Saet-byul isn’t a troublemaker anymore and she wants to work for him.
Comments: They grow up so fast! I feel like Kim Yoo-jung was a child actress yesterday!
Sweet Home

Genre: Horror/ Psychological Thriller
Starring: Song Kang, Lee Jin-wook, and Lee Si-young
Plot: Based on the popular webtoon by Kim Kan-Bi & Hwang Young-Chan, this drama will follow reclusive high school student Cha Hyun-soo (Song Kang). After his family dies in a tragic car accident, he moves into a small apartment and bands together with its residents to fight the horrifying monsters popping up around the world.
Comments: Googled some images from the webtoon, and I’m definitely having nightmares tonight.
It’s Okay To Not Be Okay (Alternate title: Psycho But It’s Okay)

Genre: Romance
Starring: Kim Soo-hyun & Seo Ye-ji
Plot: A man working at a psyche ward (Kim Soo-hyun) falls in love with a children’s book author (Seo Ye-ji) who suffers from antisocial personality disorder.
Comments: This was on our previous list, but I had to add it again, because it’s airing soon and will be Kim Soo-hyun’s first drama since The Producers!
There were more dramas scheduled for release, but a lot of them have been pushed back to July for one reason or another.
At least we’ve got four to look forward to. Which one are you most excited to watch?
